TV: what have you been watching?

I think The Walking Dead may be the best drama thats currently airing/in production.

There, I said it.

I loved Oz when it first aired. There hadn't been anything like it on TV before.

The show was a career launching pad for a lot of actors you'll recognize.

That said, I suspect it may not have aged well, and I haven't rewatched any episodes.

Yeah when it first hit Oz was groundbreaking must watch TV. But I tried a rewatch once and couldn't get past a few episodes.

Why are so many shows so dimly lit? Turn on a few lights. We get it. Establish that it's dark, and we can infer it's dark without turning the show into a black hole.

Has anyone here seen Oz? How was it? I have a long list of older shows I've never seen, and I'm leaning towards watching that one next.

I watched it about 5 years ago, so it was already an "older" show then. I thought it was really good. Not quite on the level with BB, The Wire, Sopranos, but still very good. Enjoy.

Just started watching Mythic Quest on Apple TV. It's hilarious. The COVID episode in season one is terrific.

just started Battlestar Galactica. Watched the 2 part mini series and was deeply moved. My wife asked, "How is it so far?" I got all choked up telling her about the 2nd part where they had to flee and leave behind a bunch of humans while the Cylons wiped em out. I've had the blu-ray box set for years, never watched it.

You are in for a treat my friend, enjoy

Another similarly metaphysical Galaxy-wars type series that I extremely enjoyed, was Stargate Universe ; unfortunately it was cancelled after 2 series. I guess Stargate fans were looking for the campy feel of yesteryears as opposed to a more conceptual and nihilistic series...

Battlestar Galactica is elite. And an incredibly moving and adult show.

omg i'm so jealous i can't watch bsg again with virgin eyes

i tried rewatching it a few years ago and it wasn't the same :(

First two episodes of Prime Target were decent.

Rewatching some of the great Dr. Who episodes, especially the ones with David Tennant and, my favorite, Peter Capaldi.

Here's one great scene. The Doctor and River Song have lived through various timelines. This is the final one.

Don't watch if you hate spoilers. Oh, hell watch it anyway.

"I hate you."
"No you don't.'

We gave up on the second season of The Old Man. It almost became a parody of itself.

But, on a whim, we checked out the first episode of Mythic Quest. Apparently its been around a while. Not sure how I missed it. Based on the preview it didn't look like anything we would like. Holy moly, it was frickin' hilarious! Hopefully the series stands up to the first episode.

Forgot about Mythic Quest. It was great, especially if you played old mmorpgs.
Just saw they're halfway through S04. Can't even remember if I saw the third season, so think a full rewatch might be in order.

I'm about halfway through season two. It definitely stands up. F. Murray Abraham is terrific in his role as the writer of the storylines for the games. I like how the show skewers corporate culture.

It's a nice way to kill an hour or two.

Watched Apple Cider Vinegar, based on Belle Gibson (wellness influencer/scammer/liar). Kaitlyn Dever is great in it, but spending 6 episodes with these people was too much for me. I was rooting for the cancer.

I've been rewatching Supernatural and loving it. I gave up on it at around season 6 or 7, but my wife assures me it's fairly solid throughout. So we started from the beginning and I have no recollection of these episodes so it's fresh and new.

Binged the last 6 final episodes of Cobra Kai last night. I love this show 😀 It has gotten more and more ridiculously over the top with each new season. But I thought they wrapped it up gloriously. Very satisfying closure and completion for all characters.

I especially loved how they brought practically every character who had been in any of the movies back into this thing. It was often stupid but always extremely entertaining. Johnny Lawrence? Easily a top ten TV character of all time. Zabka killed it in practically every scene and the character was written almost perfectly. Stupid, mindless entertainment for sure but so much fun to watch!

Didn't realize the new season of Fool Us started.

Something about magicians from Spain totally owning Penn and Teller.

I grew up on SNL and thought the anniversary was pretty great!

Obviously am very aware of SNL and it's impact, but never watched it other than the odd clip. Just read a list on the BBC of the best bits of the anniversary, sounded pretty awesome.

Adolescence on Netflix is very good. 4-part miniseries about a kid charged with murdering a classmate. Each episode is done in real time over one long take...it's pretty impressive really, and the acting is excellent.

I'll watch anything with Stephen Graham in it, but I was surprised to see he also wrote it.
