Ukraine-Russia War Take 2
Here is what the preliminary take on the Ukraine thread disappearing is:

It is pretty telling that despite being a wanted war criminal everywhere but Russia; Russia sucks so much that he changed his name and tried to start over in Finland so his children wouldn't have to grow up in the suckiness that is Russia.
It seems the people of Serbia and Hungary arena the middle of their own fight not to end up in Russia's sphere of influence.
I'm guessing he got caught up in the Wagner mess (Rusich is the core of Wagner), ran out of friends, and what awaits him in Russia is being thrown out a window. Not necessarily by the regime cleaning house, as much as by someone who wants to make a mark and get their own payday.
And yes, the people of Serbia and Hungary are certainly making a mark these days. We'll see if it is too late or not. Hungary's government has been on Russia's payroll for a long time and have been taking away people's civil liberties and corrupting the courts for years. Meanwhile, Serbia's government might have a couple of true believers, which is even worse.
"It is being publicly stated that our troops shot down 7 drones that they themselves launched. Well, the West believed in this circus. Oh well. Look, Mr. Witkoff said that he was impressed by Russia's commitment to the ceasefire."
Kremlin propagandist "Rybar" mocks special envoy Steve Witkoff, who believed the statement of the Russian Defense Ministry that the Russian air defense itself shot down its own drones that were flying to attack Ukrainian infrastructure on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday.
The Defense Ministry was laughing.

"To Be Or" is a propaganda media project, the author is a Ukrainian who poses as an anonymous Russian.
Regarding the video, I found the original and "To Be Or" version is cut right before Rybar says that the same goes for Ukraine side, who also hit the Russian oil transfer point despite Ukraine agreeing to energy ceasefire too. So he is just implying not to blindly believe word agreements for both sides. Nothing is publicly signed at the moment, the work is in the progress and no one knows how long its gonna take.
So no one was laughing, you better not shill such clear propaganda sources like To Be Or, Nevzorov, Trukha, Unian and others
upon the Ukrainian withdrawal from Kursk, there are dead bodies all over and many signs of mass killing, even of children. this is typical of Western "warfare". the scenes of mass murder makes the Bucha look like child's play.

Reports by Tass and the Moscow Times, which are Russian government sources, don't quite meet the description you appear to have in your head. One mentions 22 civilians killed, the other mentions two.

For non-Kremlin accounts, which strangely (or not) fail to mention Kremlin talking-points :--
theres pictures bub.
I don't think the crypto-fascist infested hellholes you frequent for news wanted you to acknowledge Bucha, but I guess it is good that you do after some 1500 posts of ignoring it.
I talk about Bucha all the time. its a joke compared to what you guys do to Gaza. like 80 people were executed and you guys called it a genocide. you know what the West calls 80 civilians murdered? a slow morning.

Russia can invite in international investigation and observers on the matter, this would give independent verification of any Ukrainian war crimes.
Not that they will of course.
The ever-mercurial Mr Trump now tells NBC he is 'very angry, pissed off' with President Putin for, basically, temporising and putting off Trump's Nobel Prize for peace in Ukraine. Putin's current time-wasting gambit seems to be that nothing can happen while Zelensky is in office. Trump is threatening elevated tariffs on Russian oil and trade bars on any country that buys Russian oil. Which probably won't happen, but Putin, basking in the glow of a phone call from the White House after all this time, seems a little naive about Trump.

Quite often it doesn't matter who is in power. But in this situation, trying to deal with Russia, consider who is going up against who. You think some complete idiot tool like Rubio is going to get the better of the Russia braintrust? Look at him compared to someone like Lavrov, or compare Trump to Putin. Or take Trump's buddy Whitkoff, some real estate hustler who knows f all about geopolitics. It does matter here that we have a delegation of complete dolts who are in way over their heads. These people are chosen by Trump not for their skill or experience but for political reasons and the drawback of that is about to playout substantially, mostly to the detriment of the Ukrainian people who are going to suffer even more.
Russia is winning this war. Why would they stop their winning unless they get what they want? The economic war against Russia has only resulted in more cohesion in the block organizing in opposition to U.S. hegemony. In other words it has completely backfired. It might have "weakened Russia" temporarily and oversaw the construction of a new wave of mini mansions in the D.C. area, but in the mid and long term it looks like a disaster which has created a two-headed monster out of Russia and China.
This thing is pretty well cast. Russia is probably indifferent to U.S. actions at this point. It would want back into the G7, the total neutralization of Ukraine, the dropping of all sanctions, the return of stolen monies, and dropping of all claims to most acquired territory. If it's not given that, Russia is, in my estimation, perfectly happy to go down the path of entrenching itself against the West and deepening a BRICS opposition. They will keep kicking Ukraine's ass until they can force a regime change. The fight is out of the Ukrainians. The smarter people have given up and are leaving the country along with the lost cause. The amount of time needed to rebuild Ukraine is probably around 35-45 years right now. How much longer does that need to be?
Economic sanctions to Russia havent backfired.
It is correct to claim that they were far less damaging than what proponents claimed in 2022, but it is false to claim they helped the Russian economy.
Russia wouldn't be indifferent to american actions, but the actions america would need to do in order to bring Russia to it's knees aren't politically viable under trump.
What the USA should do if it wanted to punish Russia is what they did to avoid china supplying war material to Russia (which they don't) : credibly threaten to cutoff any entity or nation that doesn't boycott Russia completely. Chinese banks got an ultimatum early on: if you do even one transaction related to war material with Russia you are cut off from international banking in full.
If trump went to India (and every other country that still deals with Russia) and credibly told it you either embargo Russia in full or we won't issue a single more visa to indians, and we will sanctions any indian bank that processes a trade transaction with Russia cutting it of from Swift, they would put Russia to it's knees.
And you know it. But it's either that or the very bland current regime with some tweaks.
The USA is still relevant for most countries in the world: credibly threaten a COMPLETE embargo of a country if that country doesn't join sanctions would work.

Europe is still the major consumer of Russian natural gas. If the Europeans were willing to put their money where their mouth is, this might be enough without even having to go the India route.
Sam thing with Iran, who does a tremendous amount of business with Europe on the black market and through intermediate companies.
But if nothing else, Europeans have shown they are mostly bluster and aren’t willing to make necessary sacrifices that would endanger their failing welfare state socialism project.
Whoever nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace prize that could have been the smartest thing anyone did for this war because we know that Trump is going to do everything possible to win it

About a third of the world is currently under U.S. sanction. You can only use isolation as a weapon so many times until you are isolating yourself. If the U.S. could do what you propose it would have.
The Ruble was supposed to be reduced to rubble. Instead it's getting stronger. The oppositional coalition to U.S. hegemony is getting stronger. Russia is winning the war. The policy has therefore failed and that's all there is to it.
Russia is set up to play both sides and that's what they will do. Long term they are going to choose the more stable partner, one that doesn't say it's your friend while encroaching a military alliance designed to destroy you closer and closer. BRICS will complete an alternative, competing banking system. When countries don't have to put up with our antics anymore the built-up resentment will flow like a tidal wave. We should have people in power who know that they are supposed to be managing the decline of the U.S. empire. But, no, we've got nothing but used car salesmen or used-car-salesmen remora.
1/3of the world population or GDP wise is NOT under full american embargo enforced as I described.
Only Cuba , NK, Venezuela and Iran are and the latter 2 not completely. The USA isn't going to issue arrest warrants for anyone worldwide who had business with Venezuela.
I am talking treating anyone who doesn't fully comply with a COMPLETE, NO EXCEPTION EMBARGO as you would treat bin laden.
That's the kind of sanctions I am talking about: treating anyone who doesn't fully compel with the embargo worldwide as an enemy of the state.
If you know as a businessman that the USA are going to assassinate you and your family with drones if they find out, are you going to do that deal? That's the kind of pressure I am talking about.
The USA has shown repeatedly they can do it physically. So it's not some "iperuranium fantasy" is it? They should threaten it for real and do it.
After 3 billionaires in Indonesia 2 bankers in Myanmar, a couple of kazaki and ubzeki are drone killed with their families, do you think people would comply or not?
This isnt isolationism, this is being willing to use the full extent of your worldwide power for your goals.

Even you know you are arguing in bad faith, you aren't 15 year old.
How is is possible to see the world like this?

Didn't know where he was afaik.
How many businesspeople are willing to go into hiding with their families just to make some money evading usa sanctions?
There is no bad faith arguing here.
I am claiming that if the USA wanted, they could force 90-95% of the world to fully embargo Russia, just by threatening lethal violence worldwide on anyone who refused.
I think you know that would be physically possible.
Just be willing to use the same amount of violence you used at your most extreme since the creation of your nation.
Keep in mind I started by claiming it is politically impossible under Trump.

you truly live in la la land but what beyond possible not possible, is it really something you should dream of?
Something you should aspire to?
I really imagine you going to sleep every night wondering why 99% of the people you interact with don't share your views.
Do you think you know better?
Do you think you are a god? (or sent by one)
You seem to be persuaded to know much about everything than everyone, and you even said you would do a better job than anyone.
Wtf are you wasting your time here for exactly?
This is the greatest mystery.
Non zero chance you are a chatgptbot.

That’s not fascist at all .
Especially for a “libertarian”.
Sounds a lot of winning for defending luciom “freedom” ideology ….
weez i am not advocating in favour of credibly threatening allin third party embargo and extrajudicial killings in order to make the whole world (or close to it) sanction Russia.
I am saying it is physically possible, and it's a choice not to do it, which is a very relevant element when answering someone who basically thought the USA is impotent to significantly damage Russian economies through sanctions.
The USA (even under Biden) chose to do only a small fraction of what it could wrt Russia, that's it. You can agree, disagree, think it should have done even less, or more, that's another discussion.
I am not sure which kind of reading comprehension problems you have with what i write though. If someone during covid tells you that killing every person found infected would reduce the spread, would your comment be "you advocate for genocide"? what's broken in liberal minds not to be able to keep a claim/argument distinct from advocacy to that claim/argument? the fact that you never do it because you are uncapable of abstraction?

That would be very authoritarian yes. And? am i advocating for it? where in the post? i am saying they could do it. And they decided not to do it. So it's not they couldn't achieve that, they chose not to achieve that.

There is still a ways to go to reduce imports from Russia, but this post more than anything shows where you read news.
First of all. Gas imports and oil imports from Russia have been greatly reduced. There was an increase in imports of LNG, which people have been misinterpreting as an increase in imports of gas. Some out of ignorance, some out of willful ignorance and some to spread propaganda.
Overall imports of fossil energy from Russia is about 75% down from its peak. As of now, Russian Gazprom is reporting losses, as it fails up for this shortfall in other markets.
Secondly. Read map. I repeat this point often in this thread, but it bears repeating. Especially in Eastern Europe, it is not an easy for many thing to shake dependency or abandon deals with Russia for their energy consumption.
Case in in point: Even Ukraine itself had a Russian gas pipeline through its country, and it was just recently closed in 2025 when Ukraine did not renew its agreement with Russia. This alone should inform people that things are not always straightforward in the realm of agreements, infrastructure and energy dependency.
I don't know why you think there is a "enormous black market" (paraphrased) for trade with Iran, you seem to believe the EU has a sanctions regime towards Iran ala the US. There are sanctions towards certain companies, certain individuals and some goods and services, but there is no general sanction regime. Regardless, the big trading partners of Iran are China, Turkey, India and Pakistan.
I can't be bothered to reply to the "bluster" thing. Perhaps try to avoid influencers and news pundits sponsored by Moscow in the future.
