Rough seas with whale in 4-bet pot

Rough seas with whale in 4-bet pot

1/3 NLHE 9 handed

Changed to this table as it seemed to be the most action. One maniac left and things have quieted down

AF not getting nearly enough credit in this thread for hitting the bullseye on the first response with the relevant questions.

I'd also like to point out how well I run these days - card dead for an hour, finally pick up KK against a guy VPIPing 99% and he has AA..

This is a form of tilt that is very common.
You have a lot of reads on V that aren't relevant. Okay, so he calls way too wide ... but he didn't do that so who cares.
It's like having reads that often he min. bets draws and using that to decide to call it off with second pair when he bets 2x pot.

In your answer to AF's initial question, you said (the most relevant pieces):

-he almost never 3-bets at 1/3
-he often donks made hands
-he sees me as a very nitty premiums only player

First off "almost never 3-bets at 1/3" is _not_ 3-5%.
Esp. OOP.
Esp. vs. a nitty open and an IP call.

His 3x sizing maybe gives off tells, but it doesn't mean "he's now magically wide" ... esp. so when you 4bet huge and he calls anyway setting up a 2-3 SPR flop, which he donks.

Think about if someone just told you those player characteristics (never 3bets, and sees me as very nitty) would you assume that they are now 3betting AQ/KQ from OOP for 3x the open after a call inbetween?
Then when that "very nitty player" 4bets huge ... are they calling and then donking on QT6 HU with a range that KK loves?

Just glancing at some of the reads you had ... plays every hand, donks top pair, calls wide post ... the obvious thing to do is shove turn. But when you focus on the reads relevant to the hand ... I'd probably still 4bet, because of the small 3bet size (don't want BTN overcalling), but it would be much smaller because we are probably looking at AK/AA/KK/QQ and maybe JJ/TT?
Then I'd start to be _very_ worried when he donks on Qxx, because wtf does he have that we aren't crushed by AcKc/KcKs ... maybe AcKx? Even if he has JJ and donks with it we are still behind combo. wise. If he only donks JJc we are crushed.

And honestly wouldn't be shocked if JJ is basically never there.

I'm often not good enough to fold early, but we shouldn't even consider raising anywhere post and river should always be a call/fold choice where we are looking at pot odds and hoping we are good 20% of the time (mostly due to bad reads or V misreading his hand, or making an insane low stakes play).
