My inclination is similar to your last one: He's getting a sticking point over with. Because of how their last clue went, he feels like he has the runway to do something conservative. So my inclination is to guess conservatively in line with that sort of strategy.

I think plastic is a stretch, likewise march for marching band, but I could see going play, sound, theater.

i'm worried that play/sound are too connected, but theater could be an ok guess; can also make a list including play/sound so we can pick it up later if he wanted those

i'm wondering why a 1 clue tho rather than a larger clue

maybe smaller now to setup for larger and using n-1 (or not) next time

given sound hits instrument, our 0 clue, hard, I don't really wanna guess sound yet...it may have just been for theater and to eliminate play/sound/bell/piano so he can give another clue next turn

I think when it keeps us even, your reasoning makes sense. Trust IBD. In theory a 4 clue could get them clued 9, but then they can't GUESS 6.
