Who is the Jennifer Harman of this era

In the Professor, Banker, Suicide King Harman took on Andy Beal heads-up, coming from the cadre of elite nosebleed Vegas players. I'm curious who would fit this bill today? Robbi Jade Lew seems to be a fixture of the big LA games. Vanessa Selbt used to play nosebleed but may not anymore and is Kristen Foxen more of a cash game or tournament player?

It seems like the nosebleed games (200/400+) have shifted to private and since Bellagio/Aria don't really get over 100/200 very often, the private games are obviously a source of mystery.

According to Grok she has the combination of skills, resources and mental fortitude. I realize that you didn't like the way she played several hands and are therefore confident in guessing her results in private games. I think it's no coincidence that Tilly and Tilt are similar words. She may be extremely skilled in inducing tilt on others who think she's a fish that she later crushes.

To stay in high-stakes poker action for a long time, you need a combination of skills, resources, and mental fo

The fact you need AI to explain a few poker terms is absolutely hilarious. Everything you say moving forward should be ignored.

Clearly clueless.

Love irony. Different audiences always react differently.

I guess it’s possible Tilly’s Simpsons take has quadrupled since 2013.

Ai Garbage

Can we just instate a ban on people who just post AI summaries. My eyes glaze over instantly as I recognize the soulless AI writing style

Not if they state it is AI in the comment.

I guess it’s possible Tilly’s Simpsons take has quadrupled since 2013.

According to Grok, annual revenues from Simpsons appear to have declined from 350-400MM to 250-300MM over the last 10 years. It would make more sense to peg Tilly's income on the lower end of the range, perhaps around 3MM. An after tax take home of 1.5 in California. Not enough to donate in nosebleeds. Of course, she has other sources of income.

According to some specific Grok questions, Esfandiari and JRB have spoken very authentically about her ability to read opponents and make exploitive plays.

When I'm weighing the evidence, I'll take the words of nosebleed players and her consistent presence in those games over the critiques of a random grinder.

But it's speculation for sure.

Speaking of Jennifer Harman...

Around twenty years ago, Daniel Negreanu posted in his FCP blog about his early experiences in Vegas. After some success in Canada he gave Vegas a shot a it didn't go so good. He went back home, worked on his game, and went back for another go at it.

It didn't go so good that time either. As he was sitting at a bar licking his wounds, Jennifer approached with some words of encouragement. More importantly, she fronted him some cash to keep playing and the rest is history.

He has expressed immense gratitude to her. If not for Jennifer Harman, we might never have heard of Dnegs.

has anyone said Clownie yet?

Melissa Burr is a mixed crusher.

This is literally the only answer in the entire thread that is actually pertinent to the question asked.

Melissa is also likely the only possible actual answer, but even she really doesn't fit into the nosebleed comparison to what Jennifer was back in the day. Melissa probably falls more into a category of the levels/stakes that Dee Luong played (even though Melissa plays all games and Dee really only played limit hold 'em).

Huck & Dee were the First Couple of poker in 1996. In addition to how good she was, she was also a bit…distracting to play against. To put it very mildly.

Don’t waste your time fellas, there’s nothing on Google Images that does her justice.

Yup. And remarkably... she ties in to the subject of this thread in a way that is also not included on google.

Melissa hasn't played poker since several years before covid in any serious way.

Melissa hasn't played poker since several years before covid in any serious way.

Thanks for the clarification. I understand that is the case... and I'm sorry I wasn't more clear.

I was simply saying that she was tee-ball compared to what Jen was... and that there's no answer that even comes close to what Jen represented to cash games then, now.

I replied to the Melissa answer.... because she was at least a reasonable present day choice based on what cash she played. All the other answers, including Kristen Foxen and/or someone like Vanessa Selbst, don't really address the actual question asked.... even if they're super smart/skilled at what they did and/or are doing.

Tilly, simply by default.

Tilly, simply by default.

Not in a million years. Comparing Tilly to Harman is insulting. Granted you need AI to think so I'm not surprised this is your answer.

The answer is nobody

Others have already said this, and it's not a very fun or satisfying answer. But it's the truth.
There are really good, talented female players, but nothing even similar to Jen Harmen and the old days. Multiple reasons, poker landscape is different, private games, lack of TV ,etc

Regarding Tilly. I have no inside info or anything but I can't imagine she is a winning player. Not saying she is terrible, she is fine. But when she plays in lineups that include some of the top players around she just isn't going to be a winner. She just seems like a recreational player at the highest stakes, it doesn't mean she is terrible, or a huge fish. She is rich and likes poker, and likes the competition. She can afford to play in those games and gets invites so she plays because she enjoys it.

Just like plenty of rich people might lose what not rich people consider a ton of money to casinos at other games, like blackjack every year for their whole life. They just enjoy the gambling. The richer they are the higher the stakes need to be to keep them interested .

I doubt Tilly is playing in private games as a "grinder" for profit on a daily basis. Where she is suddenly playing GTO and grinding out small edges.

Not if they state it is AI in the comment.

Especially if they state its "AI".

Posting output from a pattern matching algorithm prone to hallucinations that built a model from everything on the internet including clearly false sources, is the dumbest appeal to authority argument ever.

So.... what did he do?

by Kebabkungen k

Hes not my friend and hes kind of a douche so I wouldnt be surpised if he didnt tell the entire story. Makes sense lol, I seem to be misinformed about Bobbys room then.

Apologies for mis-reading your post, and I have another theory based on personal experience.

High stakes games are almost all invite only. You don't have to be a fish to get an invite, but you do need to pay heed to the unwritten rules and not be an ass.

So a mid-stakes private I was invited to was full. Then i got texted by a new player who had played with me once in the regular casino mix, where he had bought in short, and left after busting it and a second min-rebuy. I told organizer and he remembered the guy and said fine, he wasn't terrible but seemed like a nice guy and new blood is always good, we can make it 9 handed for him.

So guy shows up, and organizer gives him the best seat. He does another min-buyin and proceeds to get allin first hand and triple up. Then walks on games he didn't want to play, and after two hours of maybe playing half the games, quits as a big winner.

He will never get invited to another private game again by anyone in that game.

Now I don't organize, and feel strongly every player has every right to leave whenever they want to leave. So i don't care, but to stay in these games you must be able to read the room.

The guest of honor gets mad at people who don't play long sessions, especially if they hit and run. If he doesn't want to play with you, it's over. And the regulars in the game sometimes are loaning to the guest of honor in order to get the game to go, and consider it a slap in the face when someone who didn't loan and didn't help get the game going hits and runs with their money.

Lastly if you are skipping games in mix it's obvious, everyone sees it, and it's an angle. We are all there to make for an entertaining game for our guest, so no headphones, no sunglasses, play all the games the guest of honor wants to play and engage in table talk. Especially when seated next to the guest of honor.

So if the original story about the NL guy winning in Bobby's room and then getting banned after one day is actually true, its likely the guy hit and ran after playing only NL rounds he was favored in, and may have been a sunglasses/headphone wearing tool. So after he left none of the regulars just never wanted to play with him again, so even if he walks in as the game starts his name will be buried so far down the list he'll never get a seat again in his lifetime.

But, dear humanoid, rrrao was the best I could muster.
