They keep sending me 4 free nights emails, possibly because I used to stay there a lot. It's not a super great deal though because I have to pay resort fees so it's only about $25 a night less than you paid.

If you can get 50$/night all fees included, then pounce on it friend I doubt it though, as I have not found anything in the 70$/night region outside of dumps like The Strat...

I had an offer from Rio in February for 5 free nights. I booked it for my June WSOP trip. There was no resorts fees or any other charges.

Just to make sure I called again today and confirmed that no resorts fees will be charged on this promotional offer !!

Rates are pretty good right now with suppressed demand and dwindling travel. I'm getting 8 nights in mid-June at Harrah's for $725 total after all fees, which is about the best you're going to do on the strip in summer barring some type of comp situation. I paid slightly more than this for 8 nights at the Gold Coast back in 2018 during my first WSOP trip.

I am curious. Do you plan to drive, uber, or take the bus to Horseshoe/Paris?
I am jealous of this deal. I wonder if they will give me a better than advertised price if I call for a 3 or 4 night stay.

The bus option is much cheaper. But I mostly have car for convenience.

The last two years I have driven to Las Vegas and do the National Parks on the way there and home. In prior years when I stayed at the Rio and it was there I always rented a car anyway. I like the freedom it gives me so it was worth the money because I also played events in other casino's

I booked a last minute room for a conference the week of April 6th to 10th and I got horseshoe at $13.00 per night. The demand must be virtually nothing. I would suggest people who have booked a room check back periodically to see if they can get a better rate. Thank you mister Trump.

We live in interesting times. I wonder if WSOP attendance will be affected. I will take your advice and check on rates.

Just to be clear I was not trying to be political. I just think in these uncertain times maybe US citizens are reluctant to spend their discretionary income. We may be looking at a bunker mentality. In my poker circle of friends there are about 30 of us who came down to the WSOP the last couple of years. So far out of about 20 people I have asked I have gotten 3 yeses (one of which is me). I have another maybe 5 who are going to wait and see. That leaves 12 who are a resounding no.

I think the numbers this year may drop but how much is any bodies guess.

i THINK THE reports of vegas seeing a10% drop in feb march is true, its pretty big,

onpaper mayb ew ewil ee a drop of about -10% this years wsop

I would say more than that. In my online poker club only about half of the Canadians are going while the others have made clear they don't have interest this year. A couple months away maybe they'll change their minds. But pair that with a lot of Europeans who could be actively making the same choice I feel like a 10% decrease is playing it safe on numbers. Maybe with it being majority Americans it won't make the difference I'm thinking it will. But I feel like there's been times where tables I've played at have been 50% American and 50% European. And some of those "Americans" could have easily been Canadian where I was just assuming they were from the U.S

Outside of what has been a fairly noticeable boom in live poker the last year+, I do agree that tourism is down year over year in Vegas. This is not anecdotal. The numbers are public and I think February visitors was down 11% year over year, which is a big number. A chunk of that is conventions. But it does represent a general view of the economy and expenditures by companies. At some point there has to be a dip after the big post-Covid runup. I will be curious to see the March numbers when they come out because this is usually one of the busiest months.

I feel like people (myself included) have been predicting a reduction in WSOP attendance for the last few years. Maybe it was the crypto crash. Or inflation, or whatever. But there has always been reason to think this would be the year, and still the WSOP has managed to continue to grow.

Maybe there will be a pullback this time, though. I mean, it’s inevitable, right? It can’t always keep getting bigger. But I wouldn’t necessarily bet on it. I suppose we’ll see. I, for one, wouldn’t mind a somewhat smaller WSOP. Some of the events could benefit logistically.

FWIW, when the WSOP was at the Rio, Caesar’s strip property rates fluctuated quite a bit and often came down leading up to the summer, which is a historically slow period in Vegas. The room rates usually work like airline rates, and are driven by demand. So I wouldn’t be at all surprised if rates outside of the HS/Paris came down.

February last year had Super Bowl, right? ... However, I don't know how much that impacts the numbers but should be part of it...

Feb last year also had 29 days, so that immediately accounts for 3.5% of any drop

These are valid points, but January was also down (though not as much as February). And February was also down compared to 2023. We’ll see what March looks like to be able to tell if there’s a trend, but I don’t think it would be a stretch to say the U.S. is going through a disruptive economic transformation and this causes uncertainty here and around the globe at the moment.

Why Canadian ? What is the root reason to stop Canadian to cancel their Las Vegas visit ?

I suspect we’ll see a 15% drop in attendance and a 100% increase in MAGA hats people will use just to tilt their opponents. Even non-MAGA will wear them to look for an edge.

And my 15% attendance drop isn’t just due to economic uncertainty but because a number of foreign tourists who aren’t particularly happy with the US at the moment will likely forego traveling here.

15% in popular events like Mystery Million event is like 3500 to 4000 players !!

If that is the case Attendance for Mystery Million can go bellow 15000 !!!!

But I agree with you lots of Europeans and Canadians are unhappy and uncomfortable to visit USA

Well here's the thing. Will foreign, especially Canadian, players' distaste for Trump trump their love and excitement for poker?
See what I did there? :p

by riverph7 m

Why Canadian ? What is the root reason to stop Canadian to cancel their Las Vegas visit ?

The tariff wars : there is a very strong anti-USA consumer mentality that has sparked over the past couple of months with many Canadians - like a TON - boycotting USA products and choosing to go on vacations in other countries. I can this attitude affecting a lot of recreational players, along with a weaker CAD$, weaker BTC and an economical recession as a forecast...

Trump loves to make enemies, yes.

Actually he is good at it. Maybe only proven skill!

Anyway Trump would like to destroy Las Vegas if he can !

Trump was denied Casino License for his property in Las Vegas due to his many many bankruptcies !!

Surely there’s a more appropriate thread for this convo.
