If he wasn't demoded then it seems pretty likely he passed away. Would it make sense for a guy to just stop posting after almost 20 years and 90k posts and not say goodbye?

Yes he did pass away from Covid, sadly. We should put our opinions of him as a mod and shitlib aside for one moment, and take pause to reflect on his redeeming qualities which he must have had even if they were invisible online.

Management just got mad and shut down the entire subforum. That's what led to the exodus to UP. I don't think that decision was about a specific mod. Maybe I'm wrong.
I think you are probably correct. Supposedly Mason didn't like the direction the forum was taking as a whole, not about any mod in particular.
Come to think of it, in the last pic he posted of himself he wasn't wearing any shoes.
He was demodded from politics. He was still an orange status mod though. Then the politics was moderated solely by "well named" who burnt himself out to say the least. As you could imagine "well named" wasn't a big fan of mine. I used to send him obnoxious post reports to just highlight his bad (biased) moderation. years ago, before I ever posted in Pol and during the great AC era, Mason shut down the forum for antisemitism.
It had been brewing for years with plenty of warnings. Just like with real politics people obsess about the particualr straw rather than the problem.
As someone pointed out a few times. The toleration of a hateful group who would ban the owners in a heart beat was quit impressive but they couldn't expect it to go on forever. There was some sort of attempt to behave better by a few but even that was turned into mocking.

In USA#1, we don't watch debates to learn. We watch to observe the extent to which one or both elderly candidates have gone dotty.
I was in the car during the debate and tuned it in my radio near the beginning. Couldn't listen for more than several minutes as it was truly painful to hear. They both sounded dotty, and I was appalled that these were the choices and that one of these guys was going to be elected twice.

I made a thread in ATF after seeing how ridiculous the forum became during the whole kavanaugh circus. The thread gained steam highlighting what a clown wookie was and the all star cast of circus freaks he had assembled dominating the forum. Admin took notice and they were on thin ice

I think losing the forum bothered wookie which might have motivated him to continue abusing his mod status and make a public accusation I was cyber stalking people based on a post report (to a mod. Weird theory that I'm confessing cyber stalking to a mod in a post report, but he is deranged afterall)
Anyways, does someone have the details? It's hard to imagine admin just ignoring this total abuse of his mod status and then the weirdo quietly walks away months later. Possible but suspicious
