problem is he forgot the elimination diet strategy is supposed to allow you to swiftly reintroduce food (while monitoring the effects), and the idea of stopping at the bare bottom of what doesn't trigger you with allergic responses is ****ing nuts.

yes a lot of people especially in the anglo world eat a ton of ****. an elimination diet attempt could provide info for a personally tailored diet to know what if any of those foods is problematic for the individual.

but that is NOT an indictment of a varied diet being basically always better for you, it's just about a brute force attempt to identify "pollutants" in your diet. you are ****ing suppose to reintroduce all food you don't have a reason to exclude. various fruits and vegetables at a minimum.

the Peterson family made a mockery of a very valid method of subjective evaluation of dietary effects and I hope this doesn't prevent people who correctly identify the Peterson family as a joke (for dietary purposes) to use an elimination diet properly if they need it

in general people eat so badly in your culture any strict restriction will improve outcomes.

problem is the restricted diet can still be very very very very far from optimal, it's just that before that they ate so horrifically, restricting it in savage and rough ways was better than nothing.

Supposedly, he's allergic to sodium metabisulfite, had a severe reaction and was out of commission for a month and couldn't sleep. I don't see a good reason to doubt that. I have a health condition, and if eat or drink the wrong thing, it will **** me up. It doesn't take much, and the amount of time it takes to get better is around 1-2 weeks.

I don't think he was trying to say he literally got zero sleep for a month; just that he'd lay awake in bed all night. Ever have a night where you can't sleep and just lay there until the alarm goes off? Maybe you drift off for a few minutes once or twice, but you don't get any real rest? "I haven't slept for days/weeks" is common phrasing. In his case, it was a month of those nights.

Edit: Just watched the clip, and you're right. He did argue that he got no sleep whatsoever. I don't know if he's just not being clear or actually believes that he didn't get any sleep. Things can become a blur.

I am not quibbling with what amount to basic mathematical strategies for identifying and eliminating foods that are causing you distress because of allergies or other health conditions. I am pushing back on the notion that any such strategy, rationally employed, would ever result in the "lion diet" being the right way to go. And it seems like you agree.

If we do a little thought experiment and assume people's posts on this forum was available to these regimes in a fashion and translation understandable to the time-period, and we lived in them... every member on this forum would have been jailed, tortured and killed under Hitler's regime, Stalin's and Mao's regime. And yes, that includes fans.

So for a normal person, it is fairly irrelevant where we put these ideologies on the political spectrum. They make free speech, free press and assembly illegal, they are corrupt to the point of being ideologically worthless and they kill opposition, dissenters and the outspoken. It's like debating whether arsenic goes best with eggs or ham.

The interesting discussion about their position on the political spectrum is where they arose, how they identified and why that was.
