I find doing me + wife taxes is the nut low task. Lol @ me, I was even doing this by hand / printed form as of only a few years ago. Now at least doing with interwebz app but still just such a hassle, even for as simple as our taxes are. This year I wasn't given a tax form that I've been given every other year (lost in mail?). Meh, whatever, filled out our taxes without it and if CRA has a problem with it they can correct it themselves.

Still trying to balance whether stress/headaches of doing it myself is worth it versus paying someone else to do it. Cheap nit in me is winning out so far, but maybe not for much longer.

Had moved some money into checking to cover tax bill. Writing checking and signing forms this AM, saw I'd made an error in my calculations, and was going to be a little short. Oops.

Fortunately, had enough in local savings to transfer over and cover the difference.

Wife's an accountant/former tax preparer. She handles it all, I just provide the forms.

We've ("we") been done for months, now. Today is just another day.

our tax system is actually intentionally complicated - those companies like h&r block and quicken spend a fortune lobbying to put an end to any measures to simplify the process like the rest of the world

taxes in china takes literally 5 minutes

Borgata 10-15 years ago was 10 handed and the tables certainly could have been bigger, so fairly uncomfortable with large men to your left and right.

Nowadays it's 8 handed and I really enjoyed it when I've played.

I’ve been doing them with the same software for a long time. Never had any issues. Returns have had varying levels of complexity over the years.

Paying someone to do it doesn’t seem worth it.

AMA: i've toured/tour as a DJ globally, played some small festivals. not EDM music but 'underground' type **** (maybe most known name would be something like the types of stuff four tet played prior to their current situation of giant ampitheater 5K+ attendance mega whatever the **** it is. To qualify the statement a little - i have a vinyl collection that is approaching 4500-5K, stopped counting a while back. I prefer DJ'ing records but im not a tunnel visioned purist and always have thumb drives too. I produce music, i've had 1 track achieve some global recognition within the niche demographic scene i operate in (3rd on RA's best of the year list) . if youre a fan of boiler room (moreso boiler room 3-6 years ago than today) or actively check a website like RA for parties to go to, you've probably heard someone play my song(s).

I'll field almost any question. If its car related, i'll say this upfront though: its most likely the alternator or you need to replace a belt (timing, serpentine) if the car was manufactured post 2005 maybe, i have no clue - its all computer.

Oh and they always have AA if they 5bet. (I need to learn how to take advantage of this. maybe ii'll start bringing a newspaper or ask people about early bird dinner specials as a conversation starter)

i dont know but i figured i'd hedge against some curve balls ahead of time.

tangentially though, i owned a 92 corrado vr6 slc for some time where i was forced to learn a little bit about car repair/maintenance. some ******* blew a stop sign and t-boned me sending me spinning 360 across opposite lane of traffic and busted the frame and well, i was heart broken as fixing the vehicle from that stage would cost much much more than insurance was willing to payout unless i wanted to lawyer up or some **** and then it wouldve just been a time suck.

so its in pieces at a garage of a guy who is one day gonna swap frames and restore it as that is well beyond my ability. its been 6 years maybe? hes good, hes cheap, but hes not fast.

oh **** for real? i was just ****in around, "takin the piss" - i didnt expect it to be anything serious/legit (hence the auto mechanic advice post script.

ahh yeah i was just tryin to engage more with the folks here moreso than specific engagement around the subject matter i was bringing up.

And for me: if it’s an entire list preselected by wedding party of music that must be heard it’s 7k minimum but if you want to my hire me for my bespoke selections with maybe 5/6 songs selected for specific moments 2.5k minimum (this would be I can deliver a classic 1970s disco set all vinyl that you might’ve heard at paradise garage or studio 57, tho less the latter cuz they verged on cheesier selections)

Those numbers are non inclusive of equipment necessary, time needed, and any other addons extras like “hype the crowd” or **** like that
