Also, still furloughed. I can confirm that in retirement I need some routine.

You'd crush the OMCs at the poker room. Just drink coffee to fit in.

Back when I played a lot, I admit I enjoyed visiting small rooms when I was traveling and playing Thursday morning/early afternoons. Very easy pokering.

I’ve never really fixed a tire or anything, so it got me thinking what I’d actually do if I got stranded out there.

Bond with the hill folk?

That’s good news Rick- thanks for sending some positivity in here

Some colleagues were discussing a disconnect about how is supposed to lead to , and I commented that it sounded like underwear gnome logic. None of them got the reference. I have the olds.

Not quite to GILFs but ngl we aren't far from it lol.

Some of the kids playing in my program this year are children of players from years past. I am old.

I hitchhiked round Eastern Europe for 2 months in Spring 1990 as communist countries were collapsing. I used one source for all info on all countries which was a Lonely Planet Eastern Europe guidebook. Basically trusted/took advice from that but then adjusted as and when i met other people who knew or who i wanted to hang with. Sometimes you donÂ’t have a choice though in

That’s incredible — traveling through Eastern Europe at that moment in history must’ve been unforgettable, and it’s beautiful that your daughter’s carrying that same spirit of adventure.

Was that what it was like traveling back then? Things seemed so much simpler— it’s fascinating how much of your life unfolded without smartphones. Do you all think it was better that way?

I'll be in Colorado in a few weeks Road2Pro. Glad to read you're having some fun.

My favorite nature spots are Yellowstone, Yosemite, Sequoia, and Glacier, in that order. It's getting a little late in the year for them unless you like snow. This time of year would probably be a good time to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway, including a visit to Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Not a bit of that I didn't love. Start keeping track of states visited and work on

That’s really cool — have you always been into road-tripping and exploring like that, or is it something you’ve gotten more into lately?

Do you usually take your dogs with you, or keep those trips more solo?

If responsibilities weren’t a factor, would you want to actually live near a place like that, or do you think it’s better enjoyed in doses?

lol what happens in the dark forest stays in the dark forest.

Out there, you either find yourself—or someone finds you

It’s hard to compare eras I think? Travel is cool and adventurous and a time to explore yourself, whenever you don’t

But certainly easier being a parent - I have my daughter on Life 360 via her phone so I can pinpoint her exact address at all times. I think I called my parents 3 times in 4 months on one of my trips when I was in SE Asia

Rtp check out Blackhawk Colorado

Leather chairs in the poker rooms, 2 big (& 1 small) rooms all 10 minutes walk apart

Easy comps for free hotel stays (ameristar there is Penn which is super easy to get free rooms and even if you don’t have basic status with them you can get a free room on weekdays by grinding 200 points before 11 pm which is like 5 hours at the poker table or a couple hundred at 99% rtp video poker

In the Rockies for great excursions and hikes on off days

Hopefully he's traveling for the joy of it, not so that he can just be miserable in a different place by continuing to play poker.

Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian penners.

We hosted a Sunday family dinner, which was awesome cuz I got to have the Blue Jays game on the whole time.

Then did our annual Thanksgiving camping trip, and spent the next few nights eating dinners with friends around the campfire with the game on in the background on the radio.

It’s weird - at our stage of life we think about being healthy and strong to live longer but then you also witness the costs and problems of living longer.

80's++ looks horrendous, tbh, and really brought home hosting the Thanksgiving family dinner last weekend. MIL with mobility issues and, while her long term memory is sharp, her short term memory is completely gone (i.e. same conversation repeated within minutes). SIL's FIL has mobility issues and Parkinsons, he looked like he just wanted to be put out of his misery while slumped on the couch. Just really reminds me how I have to make sure I get in my living right now cuz the future could easily be very bleak.

Lol, I may get there sooner than I think. I'm making up the Thanksgiving seating plan and can't for the life of me remember my wife's friends name (who I also know fairly well). But I'm sharp enough to know that it is also the name of my stepsons's ex-wife... whose name I also can't remember. My wife has to give me the first two letters of the name before I get it. Lolz / yikes.

I’ve been road-tripping with my psychiatric service dog

Goldendoodle's are awesum, we love ours. 😀

I'd maybe recommend at the very least practice putting on a spare tire so you know how to in a time of need. (lol, are there actually spare tires anymore?)

My Dad is 85 and in great shape and health. 3 mile walk every night and still mentally very sharp. I think he can have a very enjoyable life into his 90s, albeit if he has to care for my mother that would be a huge burden on him

Just saw Mom (82) and her beau (87). She's alert and mostly healthy, and after the other knee gets replaced, mobile, too. He on the other hand, may not make next NY. Downright frail when I saw him last week.

My Dad's 87, sharp as a tack, and except for his eye-site, he's doing very well. He walks ~3 miles/day when the sidewalks are clear. His dad lived well into his 90's. He married a woman 10+ years younger, so I'm hoping she'll be able to care for him well into the future.

My mind, however... I struggle to sometimes find the right (common) word for a situation. I tend to switch words, like, I'll be thinking "dinner" and say "breakfast" instead. Often enough that I notice it. And recent enough so that I remember when it didn't happen ever. Scary to think what may become reality for me.

Sup!

I became a dad today to a beautiful daughter. She's 4 weeks early but a healthy 5lbs12oz and so far is doing excellent!! Mrs Turtle did amazing and is happy and healthy
Hope all is well here.

Congratulations! Good to hear all are well.
