Worst hand I've ever won at showdown with, though for just half the pot.

Double board hold em bomb. H has 64o and turns a boat on one board and a gutter on the other and bets about 2/3 pot, which clears out everyone but one guy. We go HU to the river and I miss my gutter and move all in for about 80 bbs effective and a bit over pot hoping to push V off a chop.

V tank calls with 34, for trip 4s on one board. H scoops with a boat on one board and 6 high on the other.

We got the national quebec day in summer, then it goes straight to halloween, and then to christmas

I know Thanksgiving by proxy really, if I would not talk to Americans online, there would be no obvious way to tell its Thanksgiving somewhere else in the world, nobody would talks about it around me, its just not mentionned, not celebrated, nothing!

Euros yeah idk, I saw a lot of **** from over there, having seen a few adults that Europe produced... def seriously dysfunctional **** happening over there, but then again I dont want to talk about eveyone there, because its just a small portion of them really that I met that were toxic, I bet they are good ppl over there too

What triggers me the most there is the spud! I saw these european with a sort of food truck and they make it sound like spuds is a thing of some degree of popularity over there

I imagine the spud food truck owner paying all his bill with that ****, potatoes and beans bought in bulk, that proly comes down to a few cents, he proly sells that for idk what, 5-7-9 pounds or whatever, profit margin is insane

But what really triggers me about spuds is that its just too much in the middle

Fast food taste great

So can you make a god damn ****ing choice.... a potatoe and beans with melted cheese, not exactly healthy, nt really fast food; doesnt taste amazing, is not the best for you

we can argue that you can have healthy food that taste great but, yeah its not all that realistic for me thats not rich yet, usually expensive and requires lots of efforts spend 4 hours cooking 150$ grocery bill n its gone in 20 minutes

My mother has Alzheimers and it’s absolutely dreadful

Is she in a home?

I’m more worried about my dad than my mother. Living with it/managing it would be horrific

dealing with lots of dementia myself - to my knowledge it hasn't interrupted their lives - they aren't forgetting important things, getting lost, not knowing where they are going etc

but they'll ask a question, 5 minutes later ask the same question unaware it's just been discussed

or i'll watch a baseball game with my dad and when i mention it over text the next day he'll tell me not to spoil it because he's going to watch it today etc

best advice i've gotten is "they know about it far better than you do" and reminding them they already had that conversation doesn't change anything, it won't help them remember, and it just makes them feel like **** so best to just plod along and answer for the 3rd time

Best wishes to everyone dealing with this shite, which is probably everyone in some manner, shape or form.

In my twenties, I definitely was naive and took for granted health of family and loved ones. It felt so rare for people in my sphere excluding grandparents. Well I guess not them, since they had all passed by then, but you get the point.

Now every conversation feels it has the possibility to turn into “hey did you hear about so and so, they got diagnosed with xyz serious illness.”

in good news it seems that my flight back home this summer to help pick out funeral plots and burial options for my parents was a bit premature as rickdad went from a few months to 2-5 years and his cancer is now undetectable - 20 years ago they would have said "he's beaten cancer" but now they know better and just say it's there but dormant

we chose a green burial option, which is pretty dope, you'd never even know it was a graveyard unless someone pointed it out to you

going to plant wild blueberries and raspberries over their plots once they go in

I’ve been road-tripping with my psychiatric service dog for about a month now, bouncing between hotels and falling asleep at truck stops. It’s been surprisingly awesome — my boy’s a professional chiller and always down for the ride.

For anyone who’s done something similar — maybe before settling down or while working remotely — what did you usually look for in a place to stay a while? How important was knowing your way around a car? How’d you stay healthy with the lack of stability? Did you check in with people often? And any favorite nature spots around the U.S.? Colorado was incredible.

One night I found myself on an unpaved road for 25 minutes with no signs of life — pitch black except for my headlights, no cell service, and a bird even flew into my windshield. Made me wonder how much of the country feels that untouched. I’ve never really fixed a tire or anything, so it got me thinking what I’d actually do if I got stranded out there.

Any insights or stories are welcome — I’d love to hear them.

I hitchhiked round Eastern Europe for 2 months in Spring 1990 as communist countries were collapsing.

I used one source for all info on all countries which was a Lonely Planet Eastern Europe guidebook. Basically trusted/took advice from that but then adjusted as and when i met other people who knew or who i wanted to hang with. Sometimes you don’t have a choice though in remote places and you have to decide whether to stay there or just stay up all night

Pretty much the same a few years later around SE Asia.

My daughter planned an entire 4 month trip around Europe last Summer using one too, so they’re still going

My favorite nature spots are Yellowstone, Yosemite, Sequoia, and Glacier, in that order. It's getting a little late in the year for them unless you like snow. This time of year would probably be a good time to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway, including a visit to Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Not a bit of that I didn't love. Start keeping track of states visited and work on getting them all. I only have 5 left, Hawaii, Alaska, Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire. Plan is to spend the summer in Alaska next year, not so sure about the rest. I guess eventually I'll go to NE states as a leaf peeper, lol.

My mom fell and broke her leg back at Labor Day. It has been a nightmare to arrange care for her and my disabled brother. Just managing his was tough enough.

The good news is that this brought her back to reality and she and my brother are moving to my sister's place. Much bigger city and will be easier to arrange care for him and eventually her.
