President Elon Musk

He probably deserves his own thread at this point, discuss accordingly

My assumption is if you took all of their public statements from the last 4 years you'd find that Elon lies more than Trump but believes the lies he tells more than Trump

Comparing him to Trump kind of proves the point.

Not quite everything. If Elon and Trump made opposite statements regarding something I knew nothing about, I would be inclined to think Elon was the honest one.

I think I agree with this

Leon, for his insane level of faults, has accidentally had the correct views on certain thing

Neither one are honest but their lies come from different places. Trump says things to feel good and empower himself in the moment. He's pure id. Elon says things to appear intelligent. He has massive insecurities. Neither of them have any motive to accomplish anything for their fellow man or to communicate in good faith.

I mean, ya

If I have to pick one or the other to say a morally honest thing though I’d pick Leon

If there’s one thing I’m confident betting my life on is that trump lies like he breathes air. I think by pure accident Leon is capable of saying something that betters humanity. It’s rare if it exists at all but I give him a non-zero shot at getting there whereas I give trump exactly a 0.00% shot at getting there

Strong disagree.

I think Trump lies to shape public opinion, rally support and to attack his enemies but more importantly to maintain political relevance. It works for him.

Elon lies to advertise business interests and spark attention towards what he wants. His "funding secured" bit wasn't a mistake for him in hindsight. It also works for him too.

Liars like that trip over their feet when they lie so often, which makes them look like complete morans ... but I don't think you're giving them the correct amount of credit. They've got a real good idea of what they are doing and they are playing the stupidity part just like is done all over AM radio.

The Republicans/conservatives know better. They don't try to shape opinion as much. They try to appeal to the base fears in people and exploit them. That's one reason Trump took off like a rocket after that "they're not sending their best" speech and more so as he went around confirming fears people have about elites and the media and "the others" generally. They aren't going to put a guy in a dress and say you have to think this is normal now. They are going to look at the Democrats doing that and then hype the fear they know it induces in people. Shaping opinion is the ill fated project of the Democrats. Exploiting emotions is what Trump does.

Recently Trump said he was looking for DOGE to reduce the defense budget by half. The next month he was hyping the largest defense budget ever. It all depends on the context. It felt good to say the defense budget was on the table when everyone was complaining. Then it felt good and presidential to celebrate a trillion dollar defense budget so he did that. It's all to make him look in control in the moment. He doesn't need to shape public opinion all that much when the opposition is running people like Pete Buttigieg.

Yeah there are various buckets for Elon's lies. He famously lied to secure funding for Tesla. They both lie defensively about their opponents on any given matter. I'd say Elon's lies are more strategic.

Line on how many Instathots will release DMs with Elon trying to knock them up in the next year. Even dozen sound good?

dozen seems low. elon is the type of guy to have thousands of surrogates

Come on now, he's a crazy eugenicist who wants to spread his own genes far and wide, but he's no King Solomon (or even Wilt Chamberlain).

Well the rumor is that he gets them to do IVF

Yeah, I've heard that was true about at least some of his kids. But that's even more perverse. Not acting on the natural urges that cause us to release endorphins and even often experience affection for each other, while perpetuating the now unnecessary effect of becoming slaves to genes who use us for transportation and multiplication.

Sounds like the sort of crazy **** a nazi would do to me.

Other "terrific guy"s had similar ideas...

Yeah definite Boys From Brazil vibe.

I heard he sends them 50k just to establish lines of communication and show them it's really him. That kind of money can def buy silence so I'm going with the under.

Whistleblower reports to Congress that within 15 minutes of DOGE accounts getting access to NLRB database the entire thing gets vacuumed into Russia, then when he makes the report he finds a photo of himself walking on the street taped to his door.

But the savings!

Surely he took a picture of the picture?

by diebitter

Seriously? Is it a real actual research-based PhD or one of those American PhDs where you have to pass a course. I cant see the former, because there peer-review aspect should destroy his idiotic ramblings...

hmm a quick google suggests the former.

Wow, Harvard has really gone down in my estimation.

I guess Economics is the 'media studies' of the 80s.

Getting a PhD in the United States is extremely onerous. Maybe you are talking about honorary degrees? I agree that honorary degrees are dumb. I confess that I don't know if they are mainly a U.S. thing.

Gonna assume he has one but didn’t post it for privacy reasons.

You can look at a bunch of pics he took showing crazy data spikes and whatnot here tho:

I do believe Trump's actions generally benefit Russia, but the most likely reason for the access from a Russian IP is big balls or another hacker trolling with VPN. The whistleblower said the Russian IP accessed the data with the newly created DOGE credentials.

Connecting to government servers through rogue VPNs is incredibly illegal and a massive security risk

Which makes it even more likely as it fits the pattern of flagrant criming by this administration. Maybe DOGE created credentials and instantly shared them with Russian intelligence. That seems less likely than trolls trolling.

Definitely possible and also super illegal.

There will be a full investigation to find out what happened though, I expect. Pretty sure someone will get on that as soon as they figure out who the actual head of DOGE is.
