this comparison is beyond sensible. One is a discomfort and difficulty being forced to adhere to average random person in society's general living structure while the other borders touches and surpasses safety of existence and personal liberty. these are not at all comparable.

do you really think the discomfort of being a night owl is the same as the life experience of someone simply trying to exist as the individual they want to be subject to at worst attempts on their life? I remember being very wary when the Covid vaccines were first coming out because I knew there had been no long term studies done yet on mRNA vaccines. My fear though was not the effect it would have in 6 months but a longer term problem because the mRNA vaccines were new. Or so I thought. In early 2021 I found out that in about 2017 mRNA vaccines had been used in Africa to fight Ebola. So at that point I felt confident enough to take the Covid vaccine because my assumption was that if there were long term effects (like 4 years or later) they would have shown up. Which makes a lot of difference for people over 65.

What I don't get in this thread is how people are acting like it was the Covid Vaccines that caused more deaths in 2021. It was the Delta variant that was the problem. I remember looking at the CDC data which came from every State (and creating spreadsheets to analyze the data) and seeing how the vast majority of people who were dying were people who hadn't been vaccinated (~90%) or fully vaccinated (~7%) and only about 3% to 4% of the deaths were people who had been vaccinated. Even after Covid declined in force and was less deadly, the deaths were still 85% unvaccinated people. My estimates were that 1% to 2% of unvaccinated people over 65 were dying each year. Kind of like a Russian Roulette game. Except people who were antivaxxers were blaming God and not their choices.

You keep insinuating that there are forces necessary to exist, namely power structures, that keep people in line otherwise they descend into chaos/war/etc.

this argument was presented historically by hobbes in leviathan. the problem is, the conclusion of the statement carries the assumption that the natural state (eg. the state of existence without operating systems like religion) is one where the only choice people have is violence effectively. With Hobbes, the support stemmed from simply faith based bullshit, which just doesnt hold much rigor in today's realm. Furthermore, it's assertion is leveled by the fact that societies outside the judeo-christian hegemony existed and exist and have not spiraled into self destruction.

im asking you to please provide your evidence for the insinuations you've made here and elsewhere that humanity would trend towards chaos and not some other situation. We can again look back and pluck a concept form Kant which is namely the social contract - we naturally understand that someone taking from us is detrimental to our survival/existence, so it is more likely that in forming collective society, we apply that same understanding not just to ourselves but to the group at large.

By your logic, if i simply dont like a certain class of individual - I should object to their healthcare as burdening the costs for me and mine. If you truly believe this, then clearly healthcare and insurance systems are not for you and I would advise that you find another means for managing or mitigating impossible costs of existence.
