Okay, most of the posts on the topic are just gleeful schadenfreude, so I'll respond to the one that has actual criticism:

I'm curious on your evaluation. I certainly see some flaws, particularly the lack of top-tier arm strength and the lack of wheels / tendency to run backward instead of step up in the pocket when the pressure is on, but he's also pretty darn good at actually passing the ball, and the numbers back that up. (And, look, it's not like he had a ton of NFL help there outside of Travis Hunter. And his OC was Pat Shurmur, so you know that's not making things easy for him.)

Really, the only even semi-legitimate reason I can think of to pass on him is related to the Deion factor; namely, that the fans might start clamoring for him to be the new head coach if the team struggles with him. Even then... that's more about ass-covering than anything else. I guess I can see why you wouldn't want to bet on him as the guy, but, like, this is the same league that thought Kyle Trask and Kellen Mond were worth #64 and #66 overall, and Sanders is better than them. Dillon Gabriel spend six years in college and can't throw the ball further than 20 yards and he just got selected. Tyler Shough is older than Trevor Lawrence and Looks Like a QB the 40% of the time he can suit up so he goes #40 overall.

I think at this point his slide has to be more than just what's on the field, and my suspicion is that it's the ugly side of those implications. But I will let you all get back to dancing on his grave. Speaking of the ugly side of those implications.

I suspect there's a strain of this going around.

Also, on the Colorado topic, they just had their first 9-win (or 8-win, or 7-win, or 6-win) season in a decade.

I mean he thought he could dictate where he could go without being an elite talent. I'm sure these teams also have a much better idea of what he's like behind closed doors, how hard he works, what kind of leader he is etc. being an NFL QB is about a lot more than just raw ability. He obviously had a massive ego and" my **** don't stink attitude"which doesn't exactly translate into going to put in a ton of work to be a great QB in the NFL.

All things being equal give me the hungry guy over the spoiled born rich diva athlete.

If he wasn't Deions kid would he really have gotten all of this hype in the first place?

I'm not saying he's an elite talent, but taking Gabriel or Shough over Sanders should be a fire able offense, because he's 100% better than either of those guys.

I'd rather not debate any of it-- although I'm happy to hear any explanations why all the people so gleeful in this thread hate Deion and Shedeur so much and see just where exactly that leads. I think the NFL's own history there speaks for itself, quite honestly.

I will say this is a league that thought Mac Jones was worth the #15 overall pick, and he had similar college production with similar lack of mobility, an even weaker arm, and far more supporting talent.

This is a league that thought Kellen Mond was worth the #66 pick and he was dog ass even in college. This is a league that thought Kenny Pickett was worth the #20 overall pick because he hung around college long enough to finally have Jordan Addison fatten up his numbers. This is a league that used a third-round pick on Matt Corral, who almost immediately became a part-time UFL starter. This is a league that used a second-round pick on Christian Hackenberg for looking the part while he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn (and Hackenberg couldn't even become a part-time spring league starter; he started one game in the AAFL and immediately got relegated to third string behind Zach Mettenberger and Brandon Silvers. Who? Exactly).

I can see Shedeur slipping out of the first for not having the high-end tools. I can't see him not being worth a day-2 pick, though. I can't see him being that much worse than a bunch of guys who were JAGs and non-factors in college.

The idea that Deion isn’t a justifiable lightning rod is also absurd. Deion is a ****ing POS and all you have to do is look at his statements and actions since taking over the colorado job despite achieving nothing other than notoriety for a school desperately thirsty for relevance to the point that they are retiring the numbers of 2 players who just left with middling performances while their entire national championship team is…..well not given that same recognition. All to appease this clownass so he doesn’t leave for the first SEC school who gives him an offer

This is not a guy who on any justifiable metric is a first round talent. This is likely not a guy who on any justifiable metric is a second round talent. This is likely not a guy who on any justifiable metric is a third round talent. He was touted as a potential #1 pick cuz he’s Prime’s kid, which elevated the perceived talent of a guy who couldn’t do better than Jackson State with his dad as his coach out of high school.

The fact that he has even gotten himself to a point where he’s an nfl prospect is a testament to his talent, no question about it. But he was never truly an elite prospect, he was just hyped into it by buffoonery and media fellating over the aura of Prime (see: a scumbag coach for a mediocre team) and the idea that he deserved to be taken in the first 100 picks despite not being good enough to justify it just cuz other teams made stupid choices once upon a time is an argument, technically speaking

Sanders carries baggage. It’s unfortunate for him that it falls on him and is clearly gonna knock him down in the draft but that same baggage is also why he was hyped to the extent he was. Live by the sword, stock plummets by the sword. Cest la vie

Thirty years ago I didn’t see any Corona in Cabo either. Almost entirely Pacifico and the kids with coolers on the beach had Carta Blanca stubbies with the notch opener on the bottom.

Trump advocated for his "great genes" which is perfectly in line with how Trump thinks about race and supremacy and etc. And Trump doesn't run an NFL team. The **** he said is the same kind of **** NFL teams say behind closed doors, just framed as a positive instead of a negative.

Again, achieved their best season in a decade, hype or no hype. Like him or not, this was a consistent 4-5 win team for almost 20 years (except for one random hiccup in Mike MacIntyre's first year). They were 1-11 before he took over and they finished 9-4 in his second year. That is something!

If you're running a team and don't like Deion, fine. You don't have a strong enough organization to put your foot down to any of his bullshit though?

You keep saying this, and it's an assertion, not an argument. Okay, you don't believe Shedeur is a top-100 talent. Because... as far as I can tell, because you don't believe Shedeur is a top-100 talent. You're just repeating yourself at length without saying why.

I think he definitely has faults and a limited physical upside, but, like, I think he can play the position. Plenty of analysts do (I mean people who actually watch and break down film, not just guys like Kiper who draw from their sources and such). I'd rather him than toolsy guys who can't play. Or guys without the tools who also can't play but have other qualities that make them preferable backup QBs, apparently.

I mean, geez, Dillon Gabriel was ranked dead last in Matt Waldman's QB ratings this year (behind luminaries such as Max Brosmer and Seth Henigan), just to name one analyst. And he's already off the board. We're just at the point where even if you think Shedeur is cromulent at best, that's worth the risk if you don't have a long-term solution.

Nobody drafting gives a flying **** about Colorado having their best team in a decade. That and 3 dollars with get you on the train in NY.

Yea no **** he's a lot better than whatever trash they had for a QB was before him and the players Deion recruited around him are better than the trash they had before that. That's not what you base drafting players on.

You also ignore the part where he basically told half the league to go **** itself. You really want someone on your team who

1) doesn't want to be there
2) is filthy rich so it's not like he has to be on his best behavior or go work some **** job
3)isn't starting

That type of crap was worth dealing with from his hall of fame father because he was so good. You see this in all sports - when guys are elite and they're a pain in the ass teams deal with them. Then when they're older and merely decent nobody wants to deal with them anymore. This guy isn't elite and hasn't thrown one pass in the NFL and expected teams to fawn all over him. Not happening.

Some humble pie actually might be good for him in the long run.

I love Deion but since the Buffs season ended he’s done his son no favors, and one day he will privately apologize to Deon Figures.
