General TV Discussion and Thread for Shows Without A Thread Thread
OOTV doesnt like family comedies much huh? Raising Hope and The Middle are two of the best(possibly the best outside of
The book readers had their Red Wedding. Us TLoU’ers had this lol
They blew the load too early imo. I'm very familiar with the game so I have a good idea of what comes in the rest of the season and I'm not sure how they will make it work. It works for a video game but I'm not sure if any TV/Movies have pulled it off
Started a few series this week
Mobland - so far 8/10
im liking it the cast is strong and storyline so far is great
I really don't see the point of having Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren doing these silly Irish accents. Pierce is already irish and can probably master any accent from here. But cos Helen can only do the atrocious accent he has had to match her accent with what i can only think is meant to be a "Thick" kerry accent, but then she sings asong about wexford which is not that accent,i think she ruined 1923 and this series with her terrible accents.
Friends and nighbors - 7/10 so far
Looks like it could either get great or terrible, so my verdict is its gonna be a 9/10 for full season or a 3/10 depending on how the storline goes but so far im liking it.
The last of us 9/10 i really like this series ,i have never played the games and no nothing about the story
Holy ****, as someone who never played the game, I definitely did not see that coming. Damn. This is a Game Of Thrones level surprise.
It was way more surprising in the game since Abby's goal isn't made clear until the moment it happens, and you don't find out about her motivation until much later in the game.
It was still well shot and emotional though. The biggest difference in the scene was
Spoiler
Ellie crawling over to Joel and lying on top of him. I think that really added to the heartbreak.
One thing regarding The Last Of Us: I do not care what happened in the game at all. I never played it, so how close or how far away the show is from the game does not matter to me.
That being said, I'm not thrilled with the last show, as wonderfully made as it was. I'll spoil-tag the rest, just in case:
Spoiler
With Game Of Thrones, Ned's death and the Red Wedding, as shocking as they both were, were also both earned shocks. It made sense within the history and happenings of the show. With Joel's death in The Last Of Us....I don't think it was particularly well-earned. It was a huge shock...but beyond staying faithful to the game, I'm not sure why they did it. It seemed to come out of left field.
I'll reserve my judgement until I see the last 5 shows of the season (apparently, there are only 7), but I've gotta say, on reflection, I'm a tad disappointed.
No love for Andor here?
Everyone I go on the internet it gets huge praise.
Andor was great, is there a second season or something?
Andor is amazing...when is the 2nd season out?
2nd season starts tonight with 3 episodes.
It looks like 3 episodes every week.
guys, i get that you're spoiling what the big shocker actually is, but still, talk of a big shocker itself is somewhat of a spoiler
good point. sorry
i agree about the spoiler part above
but ive always dodged threads if im waiting to see an episode or if i am being nosey ill have a look but ill blame myself if a spoiler is there.
Spoiler
what an episode just after watching it, even though i knew it was coming due to comments in the thread 😃
was a great episode though very shocking moment

I'm the same. I also didn't play the game, so this is all very new to me.
Spoiler
I kind of doubt Joel is gone. I'm guessing there will be plenty of flashbacks.

What would you have changed? Tease Abby in season 1? Give Joel more screen time in season 2? Give more screen time to the revenge plot?
One of the last scenes of season 1 is Joel murdering 20 "good guys" in cold blood so he definitely earned it even if the show writers didn't.
I ****ing loved andor s1 cant wait for this one.
Just start a thread

I really expected it to be the end of the season cliffhanger. I thought they might completely rework the structure by having Ellie and Abby both in their 3-day treks across Seattle, but we don’t know why. But we’d find out when
Spoiler
Ellie chases Nora into the basement and she says “You know what he did….” and when them ends with something like “he deserved it” and then we find out what happened to Joel.
But they’re sticking to the game structure far more than I thought they would. That being the case, I’m glad they got it over with. As for the horde…. I’m not sure why they did that so soon, but I guess it was to add their rebuilding of Jackson onto the main storyline.

I think my main issue is that
Spoiler
Joel and Ellie are the only two interesting characters on the show. Tommy and his wife? Not so much. Dina and Abbie? Too new yet. In Game Of Thrones, we had many interesting characters to take up the slack of losing a couple of others....I'm concerned we don't have that with The Last Of Us now. But I guess we shall see.
To go more in depth might end up being too spoiler’y but I will say this:
Spoiler
Abby was my favorite single character in part 2 the game. I think it’s about 60/40 in favor of her arc, but as a gaming character, she had the best guns and was really fun to play lol
They haven’t got there in the show yet, but they did show footage in the trailers:
Spoiler
The part I’m most intrigued about are the Seraphites and the WLF. Ellie and Dina show up in the middle of something they know nothing about and i don’t think they really ever find out.
Also, in regards to episode count, and this was confirmed:
Spoiler
The show is splitting Part 2 into 2 seasons. How and where they do it, I have no clue.
