How is it like this at all? You would have no problem understanding a random cardinal's responses to questions.

Also, I highly doubt that craig is Catholic. He may care about who the pope is for practical reasons, but I would be shocked if he views the pope as one of his personal spiritual leaders.

Sure but we are never going to get that level of response on these forums especially from a religious point of view.

And I'm not presuming anything regarding whether he is Catholic. It simply is a point to say he is the closest thing we have to a cardinal on here. And some non-Catholic believers also consider the appointment of a new Pope to be a significant event in their lives.

Someone must have told Trump that the Pope is always right!

Well a lot of us lived their prime young adult years during Wojtila reign, and he played a big role in shaping worldwide geopolitics, so there is that memory in the background.

I think popes after him were far far less significant in determining worldwide events but the idea the next pope could go back being really relevant still lingers

He most definitely is not the closest thing the forum has to a cardinal.

craig's views are probably heretical, at least to the extent they are scrutable.

In my opinion Craig has certainly said things (at least in RGT) that I would call heretical.

lol so u want to advocate for Adam and Eve. Yay incest

I do not believe it would be appropriate to advocate for Adam and Eve in a public school.

Christian miracles aren’t science either, but this doesn’t deter you from accepting their reality. I don’t think this is the issue for you.

This seems to be the issue.

Is this true or not: pain and suffering are undeniable aspects of this world.

I accept miracles in my own life based on my own personally experience.

I accept miracles from others based on their testimonies. (Of course, some testimonies are more reliable than others.)

Pain and suffering are indeed undeniable aspects of this world.

Given your proclivity for preaching on street corners and on college campuses to undoubtedly unreceptive passersby, I quite frankly find it a minor miracle that you remain unmurdered.

You sound like you're really fun at parties.

You really think Craig gets invited to parties?

Don't you people get together regularly to drink water and read the bible out loud to each other or some dumb ****?

by chillrob

What did you mean by "fruit" above?

Good works motivated by a love for Jesus Christ.

I reread the section where Jesus tells someone how to follow him. I can get the interpretation of being prepared to leave your family, but the giving away all your possessions seems pretty strict. Especially when you consider that Jesus and his immediate disciples seem to have had no possessions apart from their clothes, and were willing to give even those away.

The Bible commands believers to give generously. And not just stuff. We are to give of our time, talent and treasure.

There's also the bit about it being either impossible or awfully close to impossible for a rich man to get into heaven. I know that pretty much all those Republicans members of congress are very rich (along with the President, VP, and most of the Democrats), so i can feel pretty confident that almost none of them will even be eligible for a Christian heaven just based on that single qualification.

Being rich doesn't disqualify someone from entering heaven. But if one's hopes and desires are resting on their material wealth, then they most likely won't seek God in the first place.

I should add that fact to my list of miracles, then.

Not at all a fair characterization of parties that I go to.

Since parties I attend are typically alcohol-free, you probably wouldn't enjoy them.

They also sound pretty fun-free to be fair.

I would argue I'm the closest thing to a cardinal on here.

Careful. Pride is a deadly sin!

True.

Not sure how prideful it is to think of oneself as being the nicest car in the junkyard though.

...so what would your pope name be?

I wanna be "pope-a-dope".

Or "that_pope", shoving KK into trup QQQ.

Fundamentalists have historically objected to teaching about the bible and putting it next to the Iliad, Odessey, Alexander Romance etc as literary works of importance to western civilization. Among christians, there is significant controversy on what bible stories mean, so the only solution christians could sgree on was leaving it out of public schools.

I agree with this.

However, when teaching about world history, the influence of the Bible can't be ignored.

by craig1120

You are incapable of understanding me. I mean that without malice.

Except I don't believe anyone is capable of understanding you, even with the purists of intentions.

by d2_e4

I wonder if craig even knows the answer.

Sadly, this is a totally legit question.

by d2_e4

They also sound pretty fun-free to be fair.

But if you came to one of my parties we could play chess.

by Morphismus

...so what would your pope name be?

Pope Pius XIII

(Arguably, the last real pope was Pope Pius XII.)

addendum: Pope Pius XIII was used by a schismatic group. I'm using it anyway.
