Home ownership
Maybe I missed a thread similar to this, but that's ok. I have been in my home for 10 years now, and there are some thi
First shower in the new one. Pretty good.
Lots of room in there.
Seemed as if the shower never got above tepid, though I had the control full-on hot. I mean, the glass did show a slight bit of fogging, so it was at least warmer than the air.
I take pretty quick showers, maybe I didn't wait long enough. The new showerhead may be slower too. Now I'll start the look for something like I used to have, with the hose and all.
The pebble floor felt strange, but I think it's just "something different syndrome", not bad.

Nice
Do you have a tankless water heater? When my buddy bought a house with a tankless heater, he said the drill was to "turn the water on, take a s**t, and by the time you're done, the water is hot".

They do this for the kitchen where it's hot at the faucet and not throughout the house. I assume they do it for bathrooms as well.
No, regular old natural gas water heater.
The bath I'd been using is ~20 down the hall from this one. It heated right up (as did the old shower). Both of those had a handheld showerhead. I suspect there's better flow with them compared to the wall-mounted one the kit came with.
It'll be fine now that the weather is nice until September. Even I might get that addressed by then.
Might consider adding a continuous water pump.
I had a house where the water went to the kitchen, then the laundry room, then the guest bathroom, and finally the master bathroom. Made a huge difference. And it has a timer so you set it to only circulate when you're awake.
Also, might unscrew the shower head. A lot of them have a plastic restrictor in line and you can pop that out with a screw driver and increase the flow. At least the old ones did. Not sure about the newer ones.
Broken YouTube LinkIt felt a little warmer today. Found in the instructions some info about how to adjust the "scald guard" in the valve if the water is lukewarm.
It's a little warmer than I would call lukewarm, but I'm going to have the guys look at that and see if they can make that adjustment.
While the return line is by far the best method it can be done without it. One way is add a sensor at the end of the line and it can use the cold water line to be the return long enough for the hot water line to fill with hot water.
This page is tl;dr but explains it well.
Also, get that flow limiter out of the showerhead. CO has ridic low flow requirements.
what would you know about water flow aquaswing?
Everything.
dynamically fluid response to a fellow hydro homie
I can't top that.
why try

New Refrigerator day.
My old trusty LG finally died last week and I have been without cooling for 6 days and this caused me to have to use Ice Chests, and that caused me to loose my wedding ring.
I certainly hope this new Samsung Fridge lasts longer than the 15 years of service the LG did.
Coincidentally, the fan on mine started making noise yesterday, so I guess I will be de-icing the coil this weekend.
Fwiw, my parents have a similar model as mine without the preview door or whatever it's called. They did have an issue with the ice maker, but it was from a broken piece somewhere. No leak, but it wouldn't work and of course they never bothered to fix it.
Yeah, I thought about the good vs bad reviews. Obviously all the bad ones are when something went wrong, but on the flip side, all the good ones for the most part are when the fridge is a week old. Thanks for the input Randall, I think I may just say **** it and get one. For some reason I thought my current one was an LG, but it's a Samsung and been issue free for 14 years. I r
Had the icing issue again with the coils at the back. I actually heard the fan making a noise when I mentioned it upthread, but it stopped within a day and didn't think anything of it. Fast forward to 3 days ago and the fridge is reading 52F. I go ahead and de-ice the coils and it returns to normal.... except now the ice maker doesn't work.
After disassembly and investigating, the foam at the bottom "jaw" of the assembly has been iced up and the foam balls popped out of it causing the assembly to not close correctly. I am going to see if it functions as it should before looking into any more parts and am fully expecting the foam to cost as much as a new ice maker, but this was a super easy fix.
The bottom "jaw" I am referring to is below the teeth in this pic. If you unscrew it, then it drops down revealing the coils. When the ice/foam raised the one side, it looked like it was having a stroke (I'm sorry that I don't have a good pic for that).

I've read a lot of things about just defrosting the ice maker assembly, but in my case it wouldn't have mattered. While there was ice in the assembly, the foam damage does the same thing as built up ice and defrosting won't help.

what model refrig do you have?
A lady just yelled "looking good!" out the passenger window of her car at me. She must really like SuperTunias!
I'm going to push a lot of fertilizer at them and see how spectacular they can get. I have SuperTunia Vista Bubblegum and Jazzberry out front [emoji255]

Sure she was talking about the garden?
If not, her husband is a raging cuck!
Quick preview. You can see the Salvia also coming in and some Joe Pye Weed on the left just getting started.
On the right just offscreen laughing, is a gigantic catmint that is just starting to flower. Of all my epithets the one I am most proud of is friend to pollinators.

Dudes are here installing the trim/doors in the bath.
Yesterday we had a short, but fairly powerful storm blow through. Took the gate (generic suburban cedar fence) off the hinges and latch. Cracked the pickets on both the hinge (on the fixed side) and the latch (on the gate side).
I'm not handy, but try to do this sort of stuff. After looking at it for a while, I took some scrap wood (fortunately, I have quite a bit) and stacked it to hold the gate structure on while fooling around. Went to installed the new picket on the hinge side. First screw got most of the way in, drill battery dead. Second got a few turns, backup battery dead.
Threw the battery in the charger and took a break. After a while, marked the holes, and stuck the bolts in there.
Much to my surprise, it swings. I think it's one of those jobs that's going to be ok, but nobody's going to confuse it with a professional job. It's kinda windy/breezy today, so should be a decent test if it's going to hold.
This is a Porter Cable drill I got when I first moved out here, 26 years ago. The batteries haven't been great at holding a charge for some time, but since I use them so infrequently, that's normally not a big deal.
On the plus side, Dad's day is coming up. Even though I don't qualify (yay me!), maybe I'll take advantage of the sales.
On the latch side, a couple of the bolts came out when the gate crashed off, and I can't find them. So, I'll have to get new ones, or maybe a whole new latch. I imagine I'll mess that up, I always have trouble with the latch lined up properly.
Anyway pleased with my efforts so far, given my mediocre skill.
