The last iteration of the moderation discussion thread was a complete disaster. Numerous attempts to keep it on topic fa
Instagram is always showing me these "cats of Istanbul" videos which makes it seem like a really nice place
all of north africa and turkey, never saw it in the gulf but time there was brief
morocco definitely wins in a catz4rollz battle with turkey as a close 2nd
there's feral cats in the background of most of my photos when i lived in muslim countries
whenever people ask me of my favorite single place to visit, the answer is always istanbul - turkey is amazing
also, i think it's important to mention i went to the safest parts of the islamic world for an american to travel and there's many more i would have visited if i hadn't decided it wasn't safe enough to go there
i've traveled all over the world and majority of time has not been in islamic countries
of the places where children have thrown rocks at me on the street and had to run away from armed muggers - it's always been in islamic countries - and yes that was a regular thing
i soon learned to never stay outside after dusk in morocco and never take an alleyway with children in it in egypt because they'd throw rocks and bricks at me for the lolz (and no not in a fun manner like a genuine intent to injure) - meanwhile the adults just sit there watching it go down without intervening
i do not think muslims are inherently bad or evil, but the people who think that they are just like you and me and wouldn't gleefully watch as their children injure foreigners are out of their element
Wrong+wrong=right? A bunch of whackadoo extremists did that. Not "Muslims" with the implication that the other 1.5 billion Muslims deserve anything that comes to them. It would indeed be pretty terrible if all Muslims were made to live in fear.
No reason for all of them to live in fear. More Muslims live in Indonesia than in any other country, and they have nothing to worry about.
I wasn't asking you, dumbass. I was asking rob. I thought he lives in New York City? Rob, are you just terrified every single day?
I used to own a house a mile away from the Pentagon. I no longer live there, and I'm not terrified every day, but I don't think that every Muslim is terrified every day either, at least not of anything threatened by the US.
BTW, you shouldn't be rude to someone who just contributed something more relevant to the discussion than is anything you have ever posted.
And Muslim terrorists keep attacking civilian populations in the west.
Their beef is only against the governments of the west, they have nothing to fear from individuals.
Our fear is from all civilian Muslims, because any one of them could be a terrorist. Until the activity stops, we should be treating every Muslim as a potential terrorist.
I don't think this is a fair characterization. The natural reaction of a civilian population to an attack is fear. For most people, the fear is most intense at the time of the violence and disappates over time. That's why people were expressing amazement that you felt afraid 25 years later. But whether your experience is typical or atypical is really beside the point.
Cool, because no one said that was any kind of goal.
Coordi said he didn't mind if the tactics used to accomplish other goals induced fear in that population.
I feel pretty much the same way.
I have some friends who went to Turkey recently. I've also been keen to visit but haven't done so yet.
I've been considering getting tooth implants in Turkey. Even including travel expenses, it would be much cheaper than having it done in the US. Not sure how to evaluate other risks though.

I agree.
Having said that: Trolls gonna troll!

it's very specifically the arabic brand of it
egypt and other places were normal
this is egypt in the 60s

what happened is the saudis started bringing in laborers, paid them very well and had them study at madrasas
men left egypt destitute and came back with money, vocational skills and a saudi interpretation of their religion
you took a population that was very poor and there was this "live this certain way and after a few years you'll come home with money and good job experience with enough money and future to buy a house and start a family"
keeping your women in burkas and praying so hard you develop callouses on your forehead became associated with making it and the rest of the country followed
the saudis were extremely good at utilizing their money to shape the rest of the muslim world to their perspective

In your haste to show your anger you didn't even realize his response was supporting your thoughts on this subject. Maybe stop being so angry.

Action and reaction. The cats of Islam are less pussy than you.

Dentist might be AQ or ISIS. You really want to grant unfettered access to your mouth to a suicide bomber?

I lived in Muslim norther Nigeria for a total of six months. Can confirm no rocks or stones thrown at me. Often invited into peoples homes to eat with them. Suspect problem is you. Either that or your stories are made up.
Precisely what I'm wondering here. Rob, you live in the DC metro region, you must encounter Muslims all the time, what's that like for you? Genuinely baffling how you interact with people whom you think are largely bloodthirsty terrorists. Is it just brown pants time all the time for ol' Rob?
I've had to live in fear ever since Muslims crashed an airplane into a large building near my house.

TLDR summary of the previous several posts -
Americans who live in fear of Muslim terrorist attacks have no reason to feel that way and are pussies, but it's terrible for civilians in Muslim countries to have to live in fear of actions taken by the US.
Could it conceivably be because 9/11 was a one-off event 24 years ago whereas many Muslims around the world feel the pain of US policy EVERY SINGLE DAY OF THEIR LIVES?
In any case, congrats on winning the support of overt Islamophobe Coordi!
Nothing screams empathetic like wishing others to kill themselves, Karl.
OK, but what about the fact that his death instantly makes the planet a better place? Certainly one more welcoming to Muslims!
Consider it a type of philanthropic self-euthanasia. Also, somebody who's a big fan of murdering Palestinians en masse such as yourself has no place to speak about empathy.
Can someone explain to me why leftists seem to get a hard on over Muslims? What is it about Islam that speaks to the commies so much?
Oh, and RIP KOG, see you on your new account, I guess. I still think "Friedrich_TheBigHomie_Engels" is a goer, they'll never suspect.
Karl, if you want to get perma'd (which you very clearly do), just go to this thread and make a request. It's much more efficient.
