So I’ve never used PayPal for anything before bc of all the horror stories. But if we’re talking no fee per WSOP+ app and credit card cashback on a lot of buyins, I would consider taking the risk.

But, it looks like PayPal DOES have a fee of their own for any credit card transaction? Can anyone clarify/confirm?

There are fees if you are using credit/debit cards I believe to deposit/transfer money. But, if you link the PayPal to a checking account and get verified, there are no fees as far as I can tell. I never seen a fee when using PayPal to send/receive to/from WSOP.com using a verified account, but I haven't tried moving large amounts. I too am curious about all the horror stories people have about PayPal.

I will be curious to see how easy it is to obtain receipts for the tournament buy-ins. These are used in the U.S. for tax purposes. The registration instructions keep mentioning the “ticket” can be obtained in the app or get printed out at the Verification desk. But who wants to go to the verification desk line in order to print out proof of their buy in?This is whe

Just guessing here since I will not know for sure how the app will work until I get to Vegas. But for tax purposes couldn't you take a screenshot of the "ticket" on your phone, then email that to yourself and print it out when you get home? I agree the kiosks worked very well for me the past couple of years.

This is probably obvious about late reg but just wanted to clarify, if I buy into an event the night before (like before day 2 of main event), as long as I then get in line before end of late reg I am good? Like I dont need to show up at start of day 2?

Yeah. That sounds possible. It’s just that the printed receipts were super convenient.

If there’s a fee to use a credit card through PayPal, why not just use your credit card directly through WSOP+ rather than risk getting scammed by PayPal?

And in regards to linking a checking to PayPal instead of credit card, why not just use ACH which is much more secure?

Just search through X- lot of big names that got screwed by Paypal out of nowhere- I remember Dan Zack and Phil Galfond in my feed off the top of my head.

Although I thankfully never connected my Paypal account to any money, I often get emails from Paypal (I think) requesting verification of scammer bitcoin purchases.

I think if you buy-in the previous day, your stack starts getting blinded off as soon as play begins.

Would never use credit card for poker. Will check out the X feeds of Zack and Galfond PayPal issues.

I'm gonna use Luxon Pay I think, anyone had any issues with them?

I have been using Luxon Pay for the past year, across a few destinations (and currencies) like BSOP Sao Paolo, EPT Prague and now Vegas. The app works fine, currency conversion affordable, albeit I have yet to withdraw from (and made deposits through tournament scores (BRL and Euros) and now ACR withdrawals (USD$)). It would definitely be my recommendation for non-American players/international players. GL

Thanks!

Does anyone know what the first day they will start doing in-person verification is?

The PDF schedule that you can get from WSOP.com says...

5/27 9AM - Registration opens, live action & satellites begin

So that seems like the answer.

Satalites to events besides the main event , smaller buyin events , is that a thing?

Yes, download the schedule from WSOP.com and scroll to the last few pages.

People use Paypal to do illegal **** (play on ACR ignition and other stuff.) Paypal is a regulated legal entity and will be fine to use just for WSOP or WSOP.com

Been doing a little digging re: using a credit-card-backed PayPal account for WSOP entries. The long and short of it is, I don’t think it’s clear what will happen in all circumstances.

Typically, making a credit card purchase through PayPal for products and services does not incur a fee. PayPal states they do not charge a fee for consumers except for transfers of cash to friends (payer has option to pay the fee or pass it on) or currency exchanges.

However, Paypal also states the credit card issuer may charge fees which PayPal has nothing to do with. This includes cash advance fees which can be extremely costly. I have read that folks using credit cards for sports gambling app bets are getting hit with these nasty cash advance fees. That is not the same as using PayPal, but it does show credit card issuers’ typical stance towards gambling-related purchases.

So, the question becomes, how does PayPal label the withdrawl request from the credit card issuer, and how does the issuer treat the transaction as a result. If they treat it like a normal product purchase, then players get all the benefits of using a credit card (points, grace period, etc). But if the credit card treats it as a cash advance, watch out. You will incur a fee (as much as 3-5% with some cards) and you will start paying interest immediately (ie no grace period).

If you try this PayPal back door, keep a close watch on the transaction in your credit card account and be prepared to pay your entire outstanding balance, ie not just the amount of the cash advance. I think it varies, but in one instance years ago I took a cash advance and paid for it as soon as it posted. Not only was I charged 3 days interest (the amount of time it took for the transaction to post), but I was also charged interest for the remainder of the pay period because the credit card issuer used my payment towards my regular credit card balance first, not specifically the cash advance portion.

I might consider experimenting with the credit-card-backed PayPal feature at the WSOP on a smaller buy-in. But bottom line though, it doesn’t seem at all clear as far as what to expect in terms of fees. Frankly, the idea that fees can be avoided seems a bit too good to be true. Merchants incur fees when offering PayPal as a payment option, just like any credit card issuer. I’m kinda surprised the WSOP doesn’t charge a fee for use of PayPal. Maybe this is just a short term oversight.

Of course, if your PayPal account is backed with a bank account or has a positive balance, that may still provide players with an advantage over carrying cash. On the face of it, it doesn’t seem like there would be any fees when using Payal in this way so long as the WSOP doesn’t charge any.

The PayPal use for paying at WSOP Event Buy-In !!

As per my understanding:

When you buy anything using PayPal, you will have 3 or 4 options. Credit card , ACH using your Bank A/ C , or existing cash balance in your PayPal account.
For WSOP if you use your balance of PayPal a/c there is no charges .
But you have to have balance already uploaded in your account and available.

Pretty much this was what I was thinking. I’m prob just going to wait and hear what others say after the first few events.

Other passing thought I had was of potential delays using PayPal, in particular with re-entries. I’d obv want my seat right away if I re-enter, but what if PayPal with credit card takes a few hours to go through?

People are now able to verify in person.

Whoa. Went to wsop.com today and it looks like they've done a site redesign. The schedule page now includes starting chips and level times, but there's no link to structure sheets. I'm assuming this is a glitch and they'll be back at some point, but come one guys, a little QA maybe?

All historical bracelet event pages have been removed! E.g., don't bother clicking this

.

now include everything under the GGPoker sun. There's no way to just see total bracelet event data as WSOP, WSOP Europe, WSOP Asia-Pacific, WSOP Paradise Island, and Online are all separate.

This is exactly the opposite of what I was hoping would happen when GGPoker took over the WSOP brand :(.

Okay, I don’t suppose anyone wants to be the guinea pig for this now and post their experiences? Update per KevMath:

https://x.com/kevmath/status/19231109122...

If you’re wanting to use an American Express, MasterCard or USA credit card to register for WSOP events through the WSOP+ app:

Presently no transaction fees are being added for credit card payment for WSOP 2025 tournament registration.
Fees are subject to change.

I know the availability to use a credit card today has been intermittent.
