2025 WSOP!!
I know it’s early and normally I’m not excited about WSOP this soon after but dang it, I’m itching to go back already!
I
As in a single PDF with the structure for all 100 events That's so dumb. It's 2025, this just isn't hard folks. As witnessed by the site they just took down, which was 10 times better than this new garbage. I mean, the PDFs all exist already, it should be trivially easy to put a link to them back on the schedule. And what about all the history from previous series Is that gone f
I really hope (and assume) all that history will be re-instated! I often go back to look at how the event I'm playing went in prior years ... and indeed to look at / remember the snippets of coverage that mentioned me! Luckily I already downloaded the single page structure sheets for my target events this year - and SURELY they will put those back!
This is horrible !!!What is the intention behind it .WSOP management is saying “we hate players let’s make their life miserable. So they stop visiting & Playing WSOP. So we can take it easy”Makes no sense of removing Structure Link from the page!!Genius at work !!!Here is update from Kevin Mathers “I’ve been told they’ll post ‘all-in-o
Finally had a chance to look at the new website. I’m not sure if the mobile version of the site is the same as the regular site. But the mobile version is comically poor.
The old site wasn’t perfect. But at least it was useful. And it had a lot of functionality and information. I honestly feel like an “Under Construction” or “Domain for sale” page would be only a little more useless.
I get that websites are not really en vogue and maybe they’re just pushing everybody to the app. Maybe that’s where they will focus their efforts. But people still do use computers for lots of stuff. I know when I’m researching events, making travel plans, etc I have tons of applications and windows open on my computer. Having a useful WSOP.com site would be preferred to needing to fuss around with my phone.
Instead of bundles of cash on the final table of the Main, there might just be a thumb drive?
The could get creative. Like last year, they could have just put out a pallet of eggs.
BTW, you guys arguing about paypal, etc are mostly Americans, right? Why not just use ACH to pull the money directly from a bank account, fee free?
There are a number of benefits to using a credit card compared to ACH which go beyond not having to carry cash. But there is almost always a fee which someone has to pay. That someone is usually the seller of products/services, but the fee is often passed on to consumers directly or in higher prices.
This goes for PayPal the same as any bank which issues credit cards. PayPal is a business. They don’t do what they do for free.
When it was announce that folks could register using a credit card and pay a fee, but they could also use PayPal with no fee, this was surprising to me given what I said above. PayPal charges the WSOP a fee. But now that the WSOP has announced they aren’t charging a fee for CC transactions (at least according to Kevmath), it makes more sense. Now their Paypal policy is consistent with the CC policy.
I doubt this policy will last very long. Why would the WSOP forego ~3% of profit except for a short-term promotion?
In the meantime, using a CC-backed PayPal account still may have advantages over using a CC directly. One of the selling points of PayPal is security. In theory it prevents people from having to share their CC information all over the place. Of course PayPal itself can have breaches. So I’m not really sure how big a benefit it really is. But in a perfect world, it’s more secure from a privacy standpoint.
Anyhow, the main thrust of my comments re: CC-backed PayPal transactions (which some folks here didn’t seem to understand) is that credit card companies are not keen on their customers using the cards for gambling. I think it represents risky behavior to them and CC companies main business is managing risk. That’s what they do to make money. When it comes to online gambling, like sports betting apps, it seems like CC companies are mitigating this risk by treating transactions as cash advances. This introduces very large fees and interest costs to the buyer. I’m not saying this is definitely what will happen if folks used a CC-backed PayPal account to register. I have no idea. All I’m saying is it’s possible, so players should pay attention to how their transactions are being categorized. It could make an enormous difference.
Anyhow, what we’ve seen so far with the “new” WSOP does have me a bit concerned. Like I mentioned above, some bumps are to be expected. And “change” doesn’t have to be a bad thing, even if it comes with some confusion. But the WSOP as an entity has been around for more than half a century. And it has been owned by institutions that go back even further to the fifties. Caesars Entertainment is and was not a well-run company by any stretch, but at least it had decades of experience. And the WSOP grew tremendously under its watch. With all due respect to GG, online poker sites seem to come and go pretty frequently. There is no guarantee GG will still exist in 3 years, and even if they do, there is no guarantee a live poker tournament series will continue to be in the offing.
Honestly the wsop that we knew from say 2006-2024 will probably cease to exist in the near future. We already see changes but at least the schedule/events/staff is mostly status quo as gg probably didnt have enough time to get their hands to change things as we see how everything is happening "last second" this year.
Could definitely see way more stuff happening for 2026 and so on like main event online flights (just a wild thought). And way more gg online integration (already happening with the website)
I was / am looking at Luxon (which I have used in London) but with a 2% fee to convert to USD in app it will be cheaper for me to use a Debit Card directly which has no FX conversion fee. So I hope the 0% card fee lasts ... I see the news that the zero fee is "currently" being applied. I don't understand why they would change it during the series but the language they are usi
They want to be able to say that it was just for now when they realize how much they're losing on the fees and then revert back to the normal fee structure.

I suppose I’m incentivised to pre register for all the events I might play … presumably it’s relatively easy to unregister and get the funds back

I’m not sure it’s a good idea to presume anything with regard to this year’s WSOP, but one would hope the process would be easier in an app as opposed to going to the cage.
Interestingly, I only just noticed that Hendonmob’s WSOP Bracelet leaderboard does NOT include online bracelets, while Cardplayer’s leaderboard does 😵.
Couldn’t find ring leaderboards on either of them… just Circuit money list.
Since I already had Top 10 Tuesday lists for these, it was easy to expand them to the Top 100.
The CardPlayer WSOP Leader Boards have more results and will be updated more frequently, but they don't have women's lists (and aren't as accurate ;-).
I also just compiled the WSOP Record Book for an upcoming PokerNews article, so that's there too.
Sorry, I don't really follow WSOP Circuit results.

Do you really want to give Paypal (or any other web based firm, Casino, or Casino app )full access to your checking , money market accounts? If so you are entirely more trusting in the their security protocols and ability to not be hacked than I am.
Admittedly I have an old school mentality but I have received entirely to many "we apologize but a recent incident has led to the possibility that your personal information was compromised" notices for me to be entirely trusting.
I will stick with establishing a WSOP TBIC Account funded by a Cashier Check and Cash to fund my entries.

I have been using PayPal for years and have never had a problem. I will likely use it for the WSOP

Online poker is still illegal in a lot of states afaik. It would be very weird to have some Day 1 flights online and some live.

No to Paypal for me. Every couple of weeks I get notice of a scam purchase of bitcoin, that I'm supposed to verify. How did my Paypal username get out there? I've never done a paypal transaction.
Not familiar with Galfond's situation but again these guys weren't buying into legal gambling events with their Paypal and got banned. They did a lot of other stuff, some of it might have involved exchanges with people that were flagged by paypal for fraud before (not Galfond or Moneymaker but someone they did business with.) All I am saying is that you'll be absolutely fine if all you do is buy into WSOP (or WSOP.com) with Paypal. I've bought in every summer on WSOP.com via paypal since 2017.

Clearly you haven't bought stuff at a store in the US or amazon. Do you pay 3% credit card free there? No, the store pays it. That's how CC companies make money. More people come to your store if you accept the CC (and at the same price.)
If it gets them 10% more customers in a year where attendance looks to be down WSOP will gladly pay the 3% fee that SOME of the customers will use (not all.) It's BASIC business 101.

GG is a for-profit company. If it will grow their profits (which means grow their customer base) they will do it. The changes they are doing so far are positive for the game (no fees to buyins, no more lines, tons of options to buying electronically) - structures have stayed the same, offerings similar with what we have come to expect from WSOP.
It has also grown online into the largest poker site from 0 dethroning two decades of Pokerstars monopoly in the space. All in all good changes as far as I am concerned.
The whole website stats thing and missing structures will be fixed it's probably a beta version. I suspect it will improve significantly over time (as far as I am concern separating the live / online results - has definitely become necessary.)
Has anyone used a debit card to register (e.g Wise card)? Were there any fees? The official WSOP tweet on no fees only mentions credit card so want to make sure before I pay.

The only businesses which eat transaction fees, are those whose volume and margins dictate that adding a fee does not make up for the loss of potential business due to higher costs to consumers. This is why you can't typically buy a car on a credit card. The margins and volume do not dictate the dealer would be willing to eat the fee.
So long as cash is by far the most common form of payment, the WSOP can afford to eat the fees on a relatively small number of entries. But this will not last long. If electronic transactions ever become the norm, there is no way the WSOP would eat the fees unless they increased their rake amounts to make up for it. That is not typically done since folks usually blame merchants for raising their prices, whereas merchants do not usually get blamed for transaction fees.
What makes this situation interesting is how, at the end of the day, it is the banks who are making out like bandits in all this. Think of the rake in cash poker. They take a percentage of the pot, but there is almost always a hard cap in how much can be taken. So, if you have a huge pot, they cannot take more than the cap. The same is not true in CC transaction fees. They take a percentage whether the transaction is for $1 or $1000. There is no cap. Businesses which do eat the fees will often not do so on small transactions because it completely eats into their margins. They also avoid doing so on large transactions if those transactions have relatively small margins. This is what it's like with the WSOP. The transaction amount is large, but the margins are relatively small.
In reality, it's kind of absurd there is no hard cap on bank transaction fees. The difference in cost between transferring $1000 and $5000 electronically is negligible. As we move toward a virtually cashless world, this will definitely need to get addressed.
It will be interesting to hear players' stories when they register with credit cards, PayPal, etc. as far as the 3% fee goes. There are a few brave souls that have registered already on the WSOP+ app. I have to say, if everything in that app works once tournaments start, it's going to be pretty cool as far as having the tournament clock, seating assignments, tourney prize pool, etc. all in one place. I assume there will be bugs to work out, but it's promising.

Is any of 2+2ers registered through WSOP app ?
Where on the WSOP+ App can you find the structures ?
It’s just so incredibly frustrating to not have access to the structures - at least for me a huge part of the fun of the annual wsop trip is thinking though which events to play, etc. which really amps up the anticipation. Just such a self own by these guys to take down a perfectly functioning source of info in such a poorly organized way.

Andy Bloch made a pdf of all the structure sheets before the old site was taken down. You can find them here.....https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1...

I (really highly) doubt cash is the most common form of payment, especially in absolute terms. Sure, for 1-3k BIs, there might still be a majority of peeps buying in with cash, but in 10k+ BIs and especially in SHR, I doubt many - if any... - still do in this day and age where apps are much more convenient. As an example, I used Luxon for my previous 2 series (EPT Prague and BSOP Brazil) and to withdraw from ACR as well. And I can assure that peeps were not carrying much - if any... - cash to the Bahamas and were using Luxon/cryptos/bank transfers to move the currency around. Of course, Vegas has the option of withdrawing a (relatively) substantial amount from atm's and banks as compared to the Bahamas, but times are changing, especially for international players that cannot enter/leave the USA with more than 10k in cash without declaring it/risking extra complications.

A+ experience in Bahamas and do not remember any significant bugs...
