2025 World Series of Poker May 27th - July 16th
For registration there is a 3% fee if CC used.
I haven't tried this yet, but my understanding is that this is no longer the case and fees are waived this year
"The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has confirmed that players can register for the 2025 tournament events using American Express, MasterCard, Discover, and USA credit cards through the WSOP+ app without incurring any transaction fees at present. Since 2018, the WSOP has accepted credit card payments for events with buy-ins up to $10,000. Notably, the previously announced 3% fee for credit card payments has been waived for the upcoming 2025 events. Purchases made via credit cards are coded as regular purchases, potentially allowing players to earn cash back or airline miles."

I was reading the FAQ and the 3% CC fee for online reg. was mentioned there.
No fees on any of my credit card regs.
Two friends and I tried it at midnight on Wednesday night.Friend #1 couldn't get a Caesars Rewards card from a kiosk, because their email "was not unique."Friend #2, who lives in NYC, doesn't drive, and so has no DL, couldn't verify their home address, because her US Passport card doesn't include an address., and the bank statement didn't count because it wasn't government-issu
Unless Iβm misunderstanding your post, all of the troubles you and your friends experienced have nothing to do with the app and everything with obtaining a Caesars reward card. If all of this happened last year, prior to the app, they would still not have been able to play because they couldnβt obtain a Caesars reward card, which had been required to register WSOP tournaments for years and years. It is not the app, in other words, that caused any of these problems.
Outside of the long lines to verify the app on the first day or two, Iβve still yet to see anyone post any experiences related to using the app itself that werenβt very easy and smooth.

Also on that same Q:
A 3% fee applies to credit card payments only. ACH, PayPal, and Luxon Pay have no fees.
Although I ended up scrapping my plans of playing in my first WSOP Main, my plan was to pay by ACH. So this is good to know.
Also curious to know if the ID verification process is a one-time thing. If so, then the wait times in 2025 should also be a one-off. The guys from the WSOP podcast weren't sure about this, either. My hope is that this is something that can be done in the "offseason," so to speak.
If you just wanted to see updates, and follow [somewhat laggy] chip counts like on WSOP [in previous years]
Would the WSOP app work?
Or is it just for people in a tournament/buying in?
Is poker news the best option now?
I'm sure I will get use to it. I'm just wondering if the app might be more like the old experience of having them on the wsop website.
On the app can you type a players name and find out what he's in, and his chip stack. Or do you need to be 'in' a tournament to search that [and only] that tournament, to see if the player is in, and how they are doing?
Pokernews is the best for live updates, on the 25k HU they are decent, on small large field probably not much updates and slow chip updates.
You have to go to each tournament and type the name in to see if they are in it.
But on WSOP+ app you can see the table and other players and see if any of them have past cashes etc.
Also on the app you can mark players with color code to easily spot them when scrolling down the list.
Thanks
So Poker News sort of like WSOP in old days
I can go into each tournie and type in player names and see if they are in and where they are in the chip leader board
The WSOP app does all of that too [?] but also I can see the actual table and opponents for the selected player?????
I wonder if the app means there will be a record of all buy ins and cashes.... so we can see how much players are really winning/losing each year.
Just download the app, you do need to make a log in to save notes and color codes, etc.
I would use the app for typing in players names on a tournament, yes you click the player and it tells you the table #, then click tables and find the table to see all the players there.

I think the app's a good option . There's a chat function too so you can see people's random excited posts and stuff. It gives you a different perspective than poker news.
I was initially skeptical about the app possibly decreasing entries, but after experiencing it for a couple days I actually expect it to do the opposite.
They made it so much easier to rebuy and fire more bullets in more tournaments and the customer experience is night and day better.
I did have an issue where I was eliminated from a satellite and the app wouldn't let me re buy. I had to go back to my old table and ask the dealer to officially "eliminate" me with the tablet before I could buy back in... But that is more a dealer learning curve issue.
I'm sure the forum will be happy to see their favorite player from the 2024 Main Event pulling a million dollar bounty:
nothing is real
Saw that headline and immediately came here. On the flip side probably means a bigger gap in our respective ABIs this summer, so incrementally less likely I get to play with him!
and the paigow jackpot guy just hit the other one lmao

Uhhh....no Visa credit cards? Or is it misrepresenting that list with USA credit cards

Damn it'd be sick to pull that.
Who is Tyler montoya and why is he infamous (im assuming)?

Very young player (23? 24?) who made a deep run in the Main last year and rubbed some viewers the wrong way with his frequent table talk and borderline arrogant demeanor. Honestly, I re-watched the coverage recently and wasn't bothered by him, but I know there were some strong anti-sweats last summer.
The way I see it, not many people are going to come across well at that age playing for big money.
I mean, to act like that you most likely have some underlying dickhead behavior at the least. However, he's 23yo, made a lot of money probably (undeserved) and making a run in the main. Doesn't excuse his attitude though.
Ill say, just seeing him, he does look like a dirtbag. Good ****ing pull there buddy. Some people just run good their whole life and chalk it up to 'mindset'

he's an arrogant 23 year old with bleach blonde broccoli hair that thinks he's the best to ever do it already
the archetype of him has come and gone a thousand times over and that downswing is gonna hit like a prison sentence
Lol donkaments
App is great for impulse rebuys.
This is the myth that will never die. The entries and prize pools of WSOP tournaments will not be affected in any way because of the need to...download an app.
Proof by contradiction would be to find one single individual that isn't playing because of the app requirement, which I imagine wouldn't be too hard. Maybe sit this thread out, champ. You clearly can't handle it.
You just found one! I vote with my wallet, and after many years of seeing how poker players are treated at the WSOP I will not be attending this year. Basically we are treated like so much cattle, and merely as just another income stream for the shareholders.
I remember when the WSOP was held in the springtime, parking was free and rooms and food were inexpensive. Now we are being taken to the cleaners and laundered out for whatever money they can get from us. And it's working. I had planned to go over for the Seniors and Super Seniors but now with all this hassle at getting an app on my phone just to play, I've decided to take a pass. Nobody there will miss me and I won't miss the God awful lines to use the restroom.
It truly is for the youth who don't mind all the aggravation required to attend and play at the WSOP. They can have it!
