Problem is DoD has acted as USAid slush fund for at least 30 years, but probably longer and they have to establish the processes while letting the rest of the corruption flush out.

The point is Trump hammers his fist on Congress all day long and has them trembling in fear. If this were any other admin and Congress, the president would have been impeached and removed by now.

Yes. If a candidate runs on promising massive spending increases and then increases spending massively, I would be okay with that. I just very likely wouldn't vote for that candidate.

If you had set the O/U on Jan 1, 2025 at 5 months for how long Musk would last as part of the Trump administration, I would have taken the Under, so him being gone isn't a giant shock. Both of their egos are too big, and at the end of the day Trump only cares about the cult of Trump; and Elon has other priorities that would eventually conflict with the cult of Trump; so just seemed a marriage doomed for divorce for one reason or another.
I guess Musk was very upset when Trump pulled Isaacman from NASA. If Musk keeps taking shots at Trump and the BBB, it will be interesting to see if Trump takes further steps to go after Musk or his companies.

Musk is basically signaling to congress that he is going to primary those who disregard the deficit , and implicitly doing the same to democrats. I wouldn't be surprised if musk donates to anti-deficit purple area democrat candidates in primaries at this point for 2026.
Trump isn't even in the picture. Musk has a huge beef with congress, not with Trump. Trump gave DOGE all the powers he could, he even gave Musk the white house for photo ops with the Teslas recently lol.

Musk is just trying to publicly pull back because it’s become apparent that the majority of people hate his bullshit and his lame attempts at being funny by wearing two hats at the same time.
His dudes are still inside doing whatever they want, he’s just not going on stage to take the arrows. Also good timing for some of those lawsuits demanding to turn over documentation of who made certain decisions and how.
He’ll still get whatever contracts, regulatory changes, investigations shut down, etc. that he wants.
