Came *this* close to posting that I'd officially gone into a downswing ($1500 is my magic number), something I haven't done since 2017, but just barely staved it off last session... for now.

Brutal hand. I had a similar spot last week—slightly lower stakes and in PLO, but got scooped back-to-back hands over four runs as a 70% favorite on average.

So demoralizing—it’s so hard to regrind that through your hourly, and you just have to accept that your monthly or even yearly results can be significantly impacted.

Curious how you usually reset and stay locked in after something like that?

I think he rarely ever shows up with 22. This is a good board for me as the 3 bettor and he can expect a bet way more often than not and have an easy shot at x/r all in.

Take a breathe, make a joke, sip my beer and move on to the next one.

I know we typically avoid strategy discussion in here but to expand in my humble opinion, if you’re never folding AK+, and in theory also 22 is actually one of the best hands to fast play here out of position—since you unblock all the Kx, K6, and can avoid those nodes where the turn checks through and you don’t get stacks in vs AK+.

That said, the ideal raise size would probably be more like 75% pot setting up a turn or River jam rather just putting it in on a rainbow disconnected board like this.

raise to 30 from bb vs btn straddle of 11 with KK next guy shoves 150 next guy reshoves 160 - old rick says no way someone doesn't have aces here and folds but new rick says "i'm in usa#1 now, these lardasses are both donks, i call" and see i'm up against kjs and jj lolololol

open jj utg+1 to 15 and get 4 callers,

flop J62ss - i bet 25 (wanted to keep in other hands other than flush draws) and get 2 callers

turn is 5x - i bet 80 and get called, rejammed for 350 and i call and so does the other guy

see i'm up against 56 and other guy mucks what was likely a flush draw that bricked out

best part was the 56 guy didn't realize he was drawing dead and told the dealer he needs a 5 or a 6

otherwise everything went well and took down a lot of big pots without showdown

in for 500, out for 1794 in 2 hours

also won nearly all my sports bets today

recently got backed off at 2 more places for bj so now can't count cards at 3 casinos :(

figure if shai gets shut down, he gets a few triple doubles, or shai sprains an ankle and misses a game or two it's very live to win, way more than 200:1 that's for sure

considering getting a concealed carry permit - feels extremely douchey of me, but my gf's ex is doing a ton of crazy stalking of me and his ex and owns a lot of guns himself (and no, he doesn't hunt)

for realskis, grew up around guns with extremely responsible veterans and avid hunters in my extended family - i'm actually a pretty good shot believe it or not

they were absolute nits, so much that i cringe so hard nearly every time i see someone outside my family handle a gun because i'm seeing all the stuff "they are doing wrong"

short and sweet is treat it like it's always loaded and going to fire at any second - sounds simple but i've been shocked at how many times people accidentally point their guns at others or towards walls that may or may not have people behind it etc when showing me their guns

never owned one previously, wanted to get one for a while just for funsies as i miss shooting but held off once i saw the bureacratic nightmare of taking one with me on a multi month cross country road trip

so was leaning towards getting one anyway and now although it's going to be a nothingburger 99% of the time, there's massive red flags with her ex and he was never a good person to start with

TBH, I'm not sure the purpose of having a concealed carry license unless you plan on killing him on the street at some point. Are you going to brandish your weapon the next time you see him? Might get you arrested.

A restraining order would be more appropriate.

restraining order is difficult - he's done everything in a manner that ensures it is a he said she said situation

ie the tracking device was a normal device that just happens to have an anti theft "find my location" feature so he could claim he must have dropped it accidentally

the threats were all verbal and unrecorded

she'll be driving to work and he's 3 cars behind her the entire way - but hey can can say he was going to the mall etc

etc etc

right now her legal option to install cameras, record all conversations (they have joint custody) and gather evidence

but he's also stalked me online etc etc

he has all his packages sent to her house, a place he's never lived with "the x family" as the receiving party

he was an abusive pos when they were together - so even if i were not in the picture she'd never be with him

they've been separated for years, formally divorced for 2 years, this is the first she's dating and he's losing his mind over it because before he was living under the illusion that she'd be coming back to him (she's way out of his league - he's become obese in middle age and she is much younger and in my very biased opinion smoking hot)

joint custody also makes things like restraining orders on circumstantial evidence very difficult and super costly due to the bloodsucking lawyers

like i said, it's 99% a nothing burger, but i can envision a situation where he rams my car with his truck at a traffic light and comes at me with his glock as there's no way this much shorter obese man who owns many guns would ever be coming at me for a fist fight - in which case i'd like to have what i was already considering buying anyway for recreational target practice anyway

needed some super cheap full grain leather belts so went to amazon and ended up getting a gift calendar for a friend as well as finally picking up this bad boy from the cart

In general, when you want an injunction (restraining order) you want to show specifically the violence or risk of violence.
