Israel / Iran thread
Seems like this conflict is not going to end anytime soon and is worthy of its own thread.
Is this the most illegal act a president has ever taken?
this is Western civilization. submit to our whims and make yourself a slave or we will do mass murder. the West is just a gangster protection racket.
Iran need to move with the times with the other OPEC countries - they have got on board with the US agenda and realised prosperity in certainty of economic and trade links with the west.
Also did anyone see anything interesting with the timing of the middle east visit by Trump weeks before the Israeli defensive strikes that it was to make sure relations were at their friendliest before Israel went in?

Well, it would be best with them if they just integrated with the West and became an open, prosperous nation. But they dont have to. They can keep their totalitarian theocracy opposed to the West and focus on relations with Pakistan, China, Russia, Turkey, North Korea etc.
But what it looks like they cant do anymore is use Islamist proxies to destabilize and destroy Arab nations and attack Israel to pursue regional hegemony.

Everything was choreographed beautifully.
People are gonna look at Trump differently after this. They simply can't deny what he has done to change the world.
what happens now?
GOD
WE LOVE YOU GOD
I'm in Phoenix this weekend. People are already out in the streets celebrating. You can here the car horns blaring. This is a great day for our country. I'm happy for Israel as well.
It's over!
oh its over? I guess the White Empire can stop bombing then.
As soon as Israel has completed it's current bombings the Iranian people will emerge and start the regime change process. The future leader of Iran has already met with the President. Things are gonna move fast.
No. The scope of the Israeli strikes and the US getting involved makes this much less likely I think. There will be (understandable) bitterness at the US, even among people that dont support the regime. That being said, given the IRGC's behavior the last 45 years, especially the last 10 since the JCPOA was signed, this course of action is very defensible by Israel.
Iran was surrounding Israel with Arab proxy militias and threatening and attacking it.
It's not going to be the end until he dies or get killed. The dude was born in the 30s and is can still dictate the lives of 90 million people.
He's got an unelected, lifetime position who has the final say over all state matters and can block or overrule any and all courts - basically the worst imaginable Trump situation irl.
He's also got a team of absolute stooges who he probably doesn't know about or cant remember to continue to **** things up or get killed on his behalf.
90 million folks shouldn't have to live under that type of umbrella. It isn't a Iran is good or bad, it's a dozen knuckle dragging old school gangsters ruining the potential for millions of people. That is the ****ing problem.
Im very rusty with my geopolitics but I was kinda surprised Iran didn't have more support outside russia and possibly china just to go against Israel or speak of it

Although it can be popular among the Hoi polloi in certain parts of the world, "Death to the USA, the Great Satan" doesn't actually play that well on the diplomatic stage.
And even if you are an Israel hater, unless you are a completely deluded Western leftist with no perception of reality, it is hard to look past how much dysfunction and suffering Iran has caused in the Arab world, to no good end. It would be one thing if all the dysfunction and civil wars Iran caused in places like Lebanon, Syria and Gaza at least had the effect of containing Israel. But clearly they dont even accomplish this. Allying with Iran in their ME misadventures is literally all downside.
As I speculated in another post, IF Iran gave up on their ME ambitions and left Israel alone, and dialed down the anti-US rhetoric a notch or two; they could probably find plenty of allies on the world stage.

I’m quite skeptical that this will come about. And even if it does, does the West have the appetite to support such a regime militarily, economically, diplomatically, and (probably most important) domestically?
People just don’t have the appetite for supporting democracies in the Middle East, including Israel itself. There would have to be a big change in public opinion to accommodate this.
