Grok thinks Trump and Elon are murderers, so maybe it's not so bad:

Yeah, socialized medicine sure sounds great.

You have lost your rabbit ass mind.

This is a picture of a tweet from someone named James Cat with an @ saying Tesla fan.

FYI if your child has heatstroke COOL THEM DOWN for the love of Christ. The emergency room is for emergencies. If you can sign in, it's not an emergency. Put the kid in the tub with some ice and a popsicle, count your blessings, and stop trying to undermine scientific socialism with propaganda.

If you get wheeled in with your arm in an Igloo cooler they'll see you right away.

Finally there is a cat I have a bad relationship with.

lol. It's fun to dream.

I recommend you avoid the comments.

hmmm.... you might be right about that. when I initially said "rich" I meant like pretty much anyone who doesn't struggle to pay bills. so I didn't mean extreme wealth necessarily. I just thought the extremely wealthy felt the same things, only more extremely. but maybe this 100k-5 million a year class would be mostly benign if it wasn't for extreme wealth pulling the strings.

In my adult lifetime, I've gone from "the only groceries I can buy for the week is this loaf of bread" to what you call rich above. I can pay all my bills, and when I lost my job for 3 months it wasn't an emergency. I've been very lucky to get here - a combination of good parents, teachers that paid attention to me, being a straight white man, having an affinity for software development & being born at a time when I was able to get into & thrive in the tech industry when it had jobs available, and some bosses that gave me a lot of time to fail & learn. I don't consider myself to be rich, because I do still need to draw a salary to survive over any reasonable timeframe. I think the key difference between the middle class and the rich is that need to keep working.

At some point, many rich people lose their connection to reality (or they earned their money because their sociopaths with no compunction against ****ing over other people). Their life is easy, every hard thing is handled for them, and nobody ever disagrees with them. They start to believe they're better than everyone else, and their money proves it. Those people will absolutely destroy a functional society because they've stopped seeing other people as people - they're just tools to achieve their own goals.

but maybe this 100k-5 million a year class would be mostly benign if it wasn't for extreme wealth pulling the strings.

Pulling this out specifically. The gap between 100k / year and 5 million / year is unfathomable.
At 100k / year, you can't buy a house most places.
At $5M/year, you're renting private yachts for vacation and flying first class to get there. $5M is about how much money somebody who makes 100k will make in a lifetime. You can afford full time staff.

Counterpoint: That kid will get looked after quickly enough, everyone has access to that care, and it won't cost the parents thousands of dollars.

basically agree with all you said zurvan.

to me 100k and 5 million is kinda on the same tier. maybe that's just me though.. and probably cuz I won't really spend more than 100k a year even if I made 5 million. but yeah you're right. people who make 100k live pretty different lives than those who make 5 million. 50x lol... I'm stupid. I was just thinking you have all your basic needs met on 100k, and don't have to worry about money(if its just you, and you're not supporting a family)... and over 5 million a year is where you start to get into absurd wealth

first time I made over 100k a year, I was living off 8k a year lol. so maybe kinda like the difference between making 1 billion and 50 billion a year for most people. it's just more money than you need.

I know a lot of people who make around 5 million a year, and none of them rent yachts.

a nice yacht can go for like 1 million a week.

Finally there is a cat I have a bad relationship with.

I've known some mean, selfish cats, but never a kind one. maybe I just got unlucky though. I stopped making an effort with cats early in life.

cats hurt me physically and emotionally. dogs were so great! I just figured why bother with cats?

In Cannes, you can rent them for EUR 40k lol. Anyway, it's all well beyond us. **** those yacht *******s

I think another relevant point here - it's always people who make more than you that are rich, until you're living that Bruce Wayne lifestyle and can't deny it anymore.

wat

40k yacht rental... lol poors

by filthyvermin m

lol poors

A sentiment we can all agree with.

you have utterly no clue what you speak of, your entire basis here must be from cartoons and movies

agreed

and no, you're not rich, if you require a salary to survive rather than earing passive income off savings/investments then you're not rich

by rickroll m

Oh, you're right. How foolish of me not to have seen it before now. All hail the rich

by Zurvan m

Oh, you're right. How foolish of me not to have seen it before now. All hail the rich

childish binary characterizations of either side are equally foolish

overwhelming majority of wealthy people are born wealthy - even famously "self made men" were often children of very well placed millionaires and/or usually have parents and grandparents with their own wikipedia pages

so you're basically arguing that they are born evil - which opens an untenable can of worms of attaching morality to fetuses - which if you truly believe in, begs one to ask how you think about the poors, the blacks, the jews, etc

lol rick, I'm pretty sure zurvan didn't say anyone was born evil

by filthyvermin m

lol rick, I'm pretty sure zurvan didn't say anyone was born evil

he essentially is

and there's zero chance he knows any personally, well enough to make an informed statement like that anyway

cats might be born evil

If you are referring to the musical.

there is a rumor that the cats movie originally had the anuses of all the cats in it. but then they edited them out

I thought that was a fact

Chat gpt says half true

I once read a book where the guy saw Cats and it sent him on a quest to find the worst entertainment in the world. So he goes to see Barry Manilow (which he liked a lot) and goes to Branson Missouri and watches all the most terrible acts like do you remember when John Tesh from Entertainment Tonight had a music career?

So it ends up he goes to see Cats again and he's like well at least now I know for sure, this is the worst piece of entertainment in the world.

Big fan of Jesus Christ Superstar, though. I used to jam out to the vinyl in my childhood bedroom.

back when I was in acting, i'd go see some of my friends community theater, and it was AMAZING!

I love theater that is so awful it's fantastic. but honestly even the "awful" theater had tons of heart in it, which was a treat to watch
