I have only seen one non-professional theater performance. A friend of ours was doing her PhD in acting (or maybe was still in undergrad at the time? It's fuzzy) and we went to a show they put on. It was very earnestly pretentious, and I don't think it had a plot. When I was 22, I just mentally **** on it. Now I appreciate the moxie it took to get up and perform a show that was just 8 people sitting on stools in a circle, with the audience standing in a larger circle around them.
