Looks like some decent tables on the stream after dinner - and that Brian Hastings is shaping up to be my major anti rail, would love for Blom to bust him on the FT bubble.

I wonder if there’s somewhere else this fascinating (and latest) rumination on the death of NLH, the explosion in popularity of PLO, and the allure of fix-limit games can unfold.

Where were you when the Hot Fun In The Summertime thread started in The Lounge and we really could’ve used you?

Zeebo’s Theorem holds once again - one hell of a call by Chen there.

Notables:

Brian Hastings (6x bracelets)
Michael Mizrachi ((legend)
Will Kassouf
Greg *Merson (main event champ)

Chipleader came back from dinner and was eliminated in back to back hands versus same opponent

also Seungmook Jung who was on Netflix's Devils Plan

and Rene Charles Angelil, Celine Dion's son

It was brutal. Michael Hawker lost a big pot to Sebastian Schulze in first hand after dinner break. On board of 44A95 with four spades, Hawker went all in with 99 and Schulze called with AA. Then the very next hand, Schulze flopped a flush and Hawker made a straight on the turn. The money went in and Hawker was eliminated.

Schulze is now the dominant chip leader with like 230 BB.

3 of the 4 you mentioned were 1 hit wonder fish who ran super hot.

The current structure makes that a lot harder to happen and creates less fairytale stories though there should be some, but repeated fairytale runs by lesser skilled players are just so unlikely

With the significant increase in skill level and GTO, it's extremely difficult for true fairy tale amateurs to make the main event final table. At last year's final table, Jordan Griff was the only true amateur. We're not going to see another Gold or Yang.

Stack depth wasn't obvious on the Poker News reporting for the 2nd hand, but it seemed a bit punty. The board was something like 8c7c5c9x and Schulze had Jc9c and Hawker just had a 6 with no club redraw, and he 3-bet shoved the turn.

Lol Afriat goes on a rampage

I think he's had a few and cant handle it yeah. The clue was when he shouted at the player next to him "I wont put my dick up your nose".

Bellagio doesn’t spread 15/30, 20/40 anymore?

They spread 4-8, 9-18, 20-40, 40-80, and 80-160.

by SootedPowa m

I thought the coverage yesterday was pretty poor overall, except for when the Haxton/Locquet and Kassouf/Merson tables were on.Yeah the thread will hate but idc, dropping Norman Chad from the broadcasts is a mistake and has made it go downhill. His jokes made me laugh and brought colour to the broadcast, he also loves the game and approaches it from a different angle than gto

He's awful.

by ScotchOnDaRocks m

Yea 15/30 and 30/60

Riveting derail though boyz

Wrong again!

No they don’t

It’s 15/30 and 30/60. They would spread it higher or lower but haven’t seen it

by AlanBostick m

People really despise me so much they reach and look silly

When I was there yesterday, it was 20-40, 40-80, and 80-160.

It’s been 15/30 and 30/60 for at least a year

It’s 15/30 and 30/60 on bravo now

The thread doesn’t care about your butthurt, stop derailing

lol that guy on feature table just did the teddy kgb i stick it

Used a chair as his prop for it, its a long clip and only the last 15 seconds or so that are really relevant.

Hawker’s chips must’ve really pissed him off during the break.

Merson
Grinder
Esther
Haxton
Is Patrick McKelvey Carl’s son?
Some wiseguy named Frank Flowers

Liquor mighta been speaking for the 4b in that spot too. Wonder if he calls if grinder jams.

Kassouf almost almost got him to put it in there, ridiculous speech play. Maybe if he had just jammed instead of 4bet to 3m.
