Maybe don't put him on the feature table

They moved his table off, but it broke and he drew an empty seat to come back. They're also running out of non feature tables.

Am I reading too much into this or does Norm seem really pissed off that Nick Wright is replacing him and calling the Main Event final table?

Will Kassouf and Greg Merson both pretty low in chips going into day 7
meanwhile Mizrachi in 3rd!!!

If Mizrachi makes FT that will b enough to make this a memorable Main event

by monikrazy m

Nah, and not even if we exclude online tournaments. I don't think he cracks the top 10.

5th place in 2010 (7,300 people)
And a potential FT again in 2025 (10K people)?

Has anyone come close to that in the last 15 years?

Newhouse made 2 fts in a row

Hallaert, Afriat, Grinder, Chad Power, Hendrix all in top 9 counts. Shaping up pretty well. This could be one of the better final tables we’ve had in recent years.

My dream final table would be:

Hallaert
Afriat
Grinder
Hendrix
Margets
Merson
Pisarenko
Gregg
One of the Japanese players. I’ll go with Arai since he played some interesting hands on stream

Also interesting for final table:

Sturm
Power
Freitas
Buhaiov (wild player involved in many crazy hands last few days)
Schumacher
Gibbons
Iachan (young kid dreamer)
Ali (older, just $7,000 in career earnings)

Kenny Halleart.

6th in 2016.
64th in 2017

Now chipleader at the last 57

Ben Lamb got 3rd in 2011 and 9th in 2017 (and 14th in 2009)

Surprised that Kassouf wasn't given a one orbit penalty for excessive tanking. He certainly earned one, and it might just be the kind of penalty that would get his behavior to change. If he continued it, then a two orbit penalty could be the next step. And so on.

When his table gets something like 20% fewer hands in per level, it negatively and significantly impacts the other players, especially the bigger stacks, and I believe must be dealt with strongly.

Does Grinder have a chance of winning POY if he wins the ME?

Good list. Is there a notable Brazilian player left, so that the FT rail could be livened up?

The French player Antoine Saout has a really impressive record of going deep in this event in the modern era:

  • 2009: 3rd for $3.5m
  • 2016: 24th for $269k
  • 2017: 5th for $2m
  • 2024: 310th for $45k

He even said out loud when he got to the table late at the start of day 6 that his table shouldn’t object to his tactics because slow play was to all of their benefit.

At one point in the broadcast last night the commentators made a comment that his table had seen half of the hands of the main feature table. This fundamentally alters the competitive dynamics of the tournament, and I really hope some combination of the following rules is put into place next year:

1) Shot clocks, which they already have for the high rollers. I recognize this is not practical for the extremely large field events from the start, mostly due to the fact that they have dealers who can’t make change for two $5k chips and a $6k big blind, but they should be able to do this for all tournaments once in the money, or once 20% of the field is left, or for all day 3’s and later, or once the field is in one room, or something.

2) D Negs had a great idea that once the clock is called on a player [10?] times, the next time the clock is called on them it is a one orbit penalty, then a two orbit penalty, and so on.

The Grinder with his 4th PPC win is a shoe in for the hall of fame next year regardless of what position he finishes in the main. But what if he wins the main? Does he suddenly get thrusted into the conversation of GOAT?

Depending on how tightly you define "15 years" the obvious answer is probably Cada going 1st and 5th in 2009 and 2018

As it stands, he would just pip Glaser for 2nd. Not particularly close to Deeb even with a win

Nothing wrong with making a bet for entertainment, not everything has to be about EV!

Would like to do this kind of thing myself next year

ill be your huckleberry.

Notables to Day 7:

Kenny Hallaert
Michael Mizrachi
Chad Power
Adam Hendrix
Tony Gregg
Leon Sturm
Leo Margets
Greg Merson
Will Kassouf

When do they release the table draws?

This is easily the worst idea I’ve ever heard of

Might be other places but they are in wsop+ now

Ruane 4th in 2016 and 10th in 2017 is another one that I forget sometimes.

Cynn got 11th in 2016 and 1st in 2018.

Alex Livingston 13th in 2013 and 3rd in 2019.

People already mentioned Lamb, Cada, and Newhouse.

Eastgate and Aldemir both finished in the top 100 the year after they won the tournament.

Raymer and Harringon had deep consecutive runs if we go back further.

Kassouf is shortstacked and hopefully he busts soon. I hope $165k was worth ruining everyone's experience you sat with, having every other player, dealer, TD and fan hating you and cheering for your demise, and never having a single friend in this game. You and Martin Kabrehl would get along great. Huge respect not letting severe social skills stop you from living your dream of pissing off everyone you come into contact with.

Absolute prick.

Still 4 Brazilians left. Not familiar with any of them though. But you’re right, one of them making the final table would be crazy for atmosphere.

Edit: looks like Padilha most experienced of them with $1.7 million in earnings

Allah willing, Kassouf runs up a stack today using his speech play

Seems most +ev play is to call clock on everyone at every opportunity.
