The last iteration of the moderation discussion thread was a complete disaster. Numerous attempts to keep it on topic fa
3 operas, actually
I have ten days to commit the first one to memory
Which ones?
Tosca, Cavalleria Rusticana, and La Traviata
Puccini is legendary. Most other opera is average for me. I guess the Verdi is fine. I don't know the other.
Cav is by Mascagni, he won a contest lol
You may have heard the intermezzo, it’s by far the most famous from the opera
I'll check it out.
A lovely piece that I'm not at all familiar with. Melody is gorgeous but has quite a few leaps in it. I can imagine it being difficult to sing melodies like that (I'm an instrumentalist, so not a great judge of what's difficult for a vocalist?) if that's typical for this composer?
Difficult and doable are different things. Most things are doable with the right range and voice types.
Coloratura, Lyric, dramatic, and spinto are all different voice types. You get cast in whatβs appropriate for you.
What do you play?

Most wind instruments but specialize in brass. Trombone was my primary in school. I was originally a music major before going into medicine and actually finished my undergrad degree in music education. Haven't ever used it.
Ah the sackbut. Good on you :p
Guess who wasn’t intelligent enough to give up music for something that pays well lol

LOL I am actually seriously considering becoming a teacher. I got certified in science this summer and part of the reason is I've become really good friends with the band director at the school where I teach a 9 week course every year. I wouldn't be surprised if I wind up teaching science and donating my time helping the band. I miss music pretty desperately.
Not the greatest financial move, I can assure you.
Also ftr, I assumed rococo was born between ‘75 and ‘80, just based on vibes
The chances of a deer attacking your dog if the dog is off leash are remote, although it certainly can happen. The chances of a deer attacking your dog if you are walking the dog on a leash are very close to zero.
Not in the town of Kimberley we have had o off leash dog killed and a lady sent to the hospital this year with her dog going to the vet dog on leash . Thatβs in town as well . I have bear sprayed deer 3 times this year myself
One cat is the max for a male. Two is bordering on cat lady territory, and when you add in the strays you take in/care of, well...Cliffs:
Spoiler
What did you mean by "the max for a male?" Can you explain what my sex has to do with how many cats we own? That doesn't make any sense. Especially when you consider the cats are owned by not just me but my whole family.

Wow. Sounds like your average deer in BC would kick the **** out of your average American deer.
There keeps being elk attacks in the mountain town near me because people approach babies like idiots
I'm kinda surprised anyone would label you a misogynist. Jerk yes, but not misogynist.
Do you think the term "cat lady" is kind to women? It betrays a level of disdain as it was meant as an insult to me. Think for a second about that: he is displaying disdain for women for the benign act of owning cats.
It isn't healthy. Pair that with the toxic masculinity displayed by stating that men can't own more than 1 cat (without...what, exactly?)
It was quite a revealing couple of posts. Crossnerd is good at sussing that crap out quickly because (I assume) she has a lot of experience with it.
