Well that's not even a slight challenge to do.

U.S. Antisemitic Incidents Skyrocketed 360% in Aftermath of Attack in Israel, according to Latest ADL Data

https://www.adl.org/resources/press-rele...

New York, NY, January 10, 2024 … In the three months since the Oct. 7 massacre in Israel, U.S. antisemitic incidents have skyrocketed, reaching a total of 3,291* incidents between Oct. 7 and Jan. 7, according to ADL’s (the Anti-Defamation League) preliminary data. This represents a 361-percent increase compared to the same period one year prior, which saw 712 incidents.

The preliminary three-month tally is higher than the total number of antisemitic incidents tracked in any year in the last decade, except for calendar year 2022, when the total number of incidents reached a historic high of 3,697. Since Oct. 7, there was an average of nearly 34 antisemitic incidents per day, putting 2023 on track to be the highest year for antisemitic acts against Jews since ADL started tracking this data in the late 1970s.

“The American Jewish community is facing a threat level that’s now unprecedented in modern history,” said Jonathan Greenblatt, ADL CEO. “It’s shocking that we’ve recorded more antisemitic acts in three months than we usually would in an entire year.”

According to the ADL Center on Extremism, which gathers reports and tracks antisemitic incident data, these 3,291 antisemitic incidents break down into the following categories:

56 incidents of physical assault.
554 incidents of vandalism.
1,347 incidents of verbal or written harassment.
1,307 rallies, including antisemitic rhetoric, expressions of support for terrorism against the state of Israel and/or anti-Zionism.

“In this difficult moment, antisemitism is spreading and mutating in alarming ways,” said Greenblatt. “This onslaught of hate includes a dramatic increase in fake bomb threats that disrupt services at synagogues and put communities on edge across the country.”

Of the total, at least 500 incidents took place on college campuses, and another 256 were reported in K-12 schools. At least 634 incidents were reported against Jewish institutions such as synagogues and community centers. About two-thirds of the total incidents could be directly related to the Israel-Hamas war.

Recent incidents reported to ADL include:

Jan. 4 – A high school basketball game in Yonkers, NY, was canceled after antisemitic slurs were hurled at players from a competing team.
Jan. 3 – Antisemitic postcards were sent to the entire Newburyport, MA city council as well as the city’s mayor. The postcards had an antisemitic caricature as well as language saying that “the Holocaust never happened.”
Jan. 3 – Chicago police said 40 to 50 pieces of antisemitic propaganda was found on several cars in the Andersonville neighborhood.
Jan. 3 – At least six Jewish temples in San Diego County were threatened after someone sent a message saying a bomb was hidden in their buildings. The local synagogues were among 91 total Jewish houses of worship in California that were targeted that day.
Jan. 1 – A teenager wearing an IDF sweatshirt was harassed at the American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, NJ. The assailant pushed the victim and said, “you’re a whore,” and “free Palestine.”
Jan. 1 – A Portland, Ore. woman was arrested in Chicago on multiple felony hate crimes and criminal defacement charges after swastikas were found on a Jewish school and multiple businesses.
Dec. 21 – Amazon suspended an employee who slipped a note into a customer’s order that read, “Death to Zionists.”
Dec. 20 – Phoenix police said antisemitic papers were found at the site of an arson fire that damaged multiple businesses.
Dec. 19 – A nationwide swatting spree targeted nearly 200 Jewish institutions over one weekend in what appeared to have been a coordinated effort by an entity outside of the United States, according to the FBI.

why would I read anything from the ADL? they are a spy organization that supported some of the worst people in history.

I could go on, but I think I've made my point.

For the record, I am not in favor of banning Victor.

But banning Lucy while not also banning Victor is.....strange.

It’s not, but ok

Fair enough. Just my opinion.

Just enjoy that you are allowed to post here and worry less about everyone else

He wasn't banned for asking a question, he was banned for being a divisive radical

I can't get my head around this. Radical views are likely to be divisive. Are you just going to ban people for espousing politics that are radically different to the median poster?

I think Black Americans are advantaged by being Americans, something that doesn’t get acknowledged as much as I think it should.

This mirrors what the far right says about the "benefits" of slavery. I think you should reconsider this.

Remember recently when you denied having any right wing views and I said I'd flag them when they appear?

Slavery was not beneficial at all, and I think we are experiencing those disastrous consequences even until today. I don’t deny that black americans have it worse than white americans simply because of their/our history.

But being an American and living outside of the conflict centers in the world is quite a benefit, wouldn’t you agree?

Goddamn, the paternalism is suffocating

You are literally describing having one’s ancestors enslaved as a pathway to opportunity. Maybe in purely the most materialistic of terms that is true, but completely ignores the theft of lineage, language, spiritual practices and communal history. Having one’s identity stolen is not a ****ing blessing no matter how you spin it. That’s colonial logic at best. Everything black Americans have built here has been in spite of slavery, and that cannot be rewritten.

Despite all the trappings of materialism and the perils of malaria, and despite the disastrous and long lived consequences of having many generations of young healthy people removed from their societies, the median west African has had a far happier life than the median black American over the past 100 years, say, ainec.

Fancy a 3/2 on chess.com?

not sure if serious

If you are, then some time sure but I’m in bed right now ffs. Don’t need to be fully awake to debunk some of the garbage written here.

Edit, if you play an open Sicilian and stop wussing out with that d3 and c4 nonsense

Am absolutely serious. And that's "Mr d3_c4" to you.

Maybe later today if you’re around, though I can’t promise to give you a good game because cognitive impairment is kicking in.

the ADL is not a credible organization. its very telling that a left leaning, progressive poster who routinely espouses antiracist views and who I do actually believe is sincere in those views would reflexively cite them.

yes, as geezer quoted me saying, they are a spy organization:
https://www.thenation.com/article/societ...
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/arti...

and further they are just full of ****:
wiki doesnt even cite them - https://www.cnn.com/2024/06/19/media/wik...

and ofc most of these incidents they site are bullshit.

https://jewishcurrents.org/examining-the...

said Jonathan Greenblatt,

Greenblatt has compared the keffiyeh to the Nazi swastika. He defended (then backtracked after facing criticism) Elon Musk's "salute".

Jan. 1 – A teenager wearing an IDF sweatshirt was harassed at the American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, NJ. The assailant pushed the victim and said, “you’re a whore,” and “free Palestine.”

this one was funny in the context of the recent discussion. like, what are we even doing here? hating on people wearing an IDF sweatshirt is not hating on a Jew for being a Jew. tell me which side is conflating Israel criticism with antisemitism.

I don't care what his response is frankly, just pointing out how easy it is. The claim is so asinine it doesn't even warrant a response. I don't actually care about the ADL or its reliability because I don't care about a need to provide evidence for something so obvious. It's like asking for evidence that the ocean is filled with water.

I literally have dealt personally with some of the grossest antisemitism over the past 15+ years when conspiracy theory bs all over the internet. You either have to be completely sheltered and ignorant or just a blatant liar to deny its existence.

Yall can deal with that clown, if you want, I'm not.

this is what I get for a well cited and respectful critique of your source. completely ignores that he was wrong and throws insults. pure toxicity and cowardice.

I absolutely retract this.

Well, I don't think the mods are using the median poster as their reference point. They are using their own political sensibilities and making determinations what views are harmless and can be permitted, and which are dangerous and cannot.

I disagree, but the mods feel the radical leftism that you and Victor espouse are harmless, and are therefor permitted. But the rhetoric Lucium engaged in was more dangerous and should be policed more aggressively. And this is consistent with how liberal leftist authorities at every level (from message board mods to Presidents of liberal nations) have operated for the last few decades.

I personally feel radical leftism and Islamism are well past the thresholds where they are just as dangerous to liberal western society, if not more dangerous, than far right nationalism. But we are going to have to just agree to disagree on this point I guess, and hope I am not right.
