Las Vegas Casual Dining Thread
We have the fine dining thread, but everyone needs some good casual places to eat, either on the strip or local. I'm fi
Any delis doing Taylor ham egg and cheese on a bagel or a roll?
Missing north Jersey /Jersey shore right now and hope someone sells it here.
I can't buy it at home because my girl is vegetarian and I keep meat out of the house.

I haven't seen a Taylor Ham in over half a century. ProTip: it needs to be on a hard roll. The chances of finding a decent hard roll in Vegas are zero.
For awhile they had pork roll (I said it) at (my former) smiths at rancho and Charleston.
Agree about the hard roll. But we make do.
It's a pork roll. No reason to talk around it.

Yes, Lifeβs a Bagel had it on their menu when I went last weekend in the bagel sandwiches portion of the menu.
Love your taste in movies but Iβm not sure about this. Is thatβ¦..macaroni salad on top of spam? With rice to boot
Macaroni salad and rice comes with everything. Las Vegas is known as the ninth island. Give a Hawaiian restaurant a shot next time you're in town. Portuguese sausage and/or spam and eggs is a very popular breakfast item but it's missing brown gravy or some kind of sauce to mix with the rice IMO. Loco Moco is my go to.

Haha I had no idea, thanks. Will check it out for sure
Large population of Hawaiians there then?

Maybe you can answer this for me. There used to be a Hawaiian BBQ place way way north on Rainbow. They had really good musubi. I think they disappeared during COVID. Do you know where they went? What their name was?
I'm not trying to offend anyone. I find the north jersey and NY thing with south jersey so odd. I'm from north of Philly, so maybe I shouldn't have chimed in.
Eating a South Jersey/ Philly hoagie, and learning that I could have a Sub w vinegar and oil and fresh veggies was a life changing event for high school phat mack. Smooch.
I can't find it but I once did a loco moco survey post. The winner, I think, believe it or not, was the egg & I on Charleston. I don't know if they still serve it and I don't know if I'm hallucinating.

Sorry I do not. I have lived on the complete opposite end of town for over 20 years now.
Morning News had a good loco moco. I liked the bite I tried of my friendβs when we went back in May. Loco moco is only an βokayβ dish for me as I get tired of the flavor profile pretty fast and donβt want more than a few bites, but that one looked and tasted good.
Been to Morning News but can't remember what I had. Theirs has spam so I would have skipped it. If it isn't a recent addition to the menu I'd like to think I ordered the chorizo poutine. Pretty sure I got a chili loco moco at the Babystacks in Chinatown. I've had Zippys version of that also. I prefer the standard brown gravy.
Just as I'm posting this a news story pops up about today being national spam musubi day. Get out there today Phat Mack.
Still not sure how I feel about Hawaiian food. I never crave it but it's normally good when I have it, but I also don't need rice and macaroni salad.
Went to Pacific Island taste last time I was in town and it was good and had interesting ambiance. There were a couple guys doing Hawaiian tunes up front.
Also a huge menu.
sexy cross section
100% support this take
love the taste but sometimes it can start to feel like an eating competition after the first couple
I'm not trying to get myself thrown off the forum but the only loco moco worth seeking out is made in somebody's kitchen with Lipton's powdered onion soup mix. I've heard that the dish was invented to fill up hungry teenage boys. Sounds plausible.

I am (was?) from the shore in Monmouth county so we were NY-centric media and sports. Was still pork roll for us, so the lines for these divides arenβt always consistent. My mom was from haddonfield, clearly on the Philly side of the state.

A-****ing-men. My first job was on a short order grill in the morning and making subs in the afternoon. One gets opinionated in that line of work π
