New fast food discussion/review thread
OK OOT, it's been a while since we had a devoted fast food thread around here and I think it's time we had a new one.

The NADC burger they have going rn is a tasty cheeseburger, will get a pic. ~ 15 bucks iirc.
hell of a burg dmatz
these two sandwiches added together is my go to JM order

by random happenstance i found myself adjacent to a Jersey Mike's today around lunchtime so i decided to visit an old friend. ordered my standard #99 and was pleasantly surprised to discover my mike's points made it free even though i haven't visited one in at least two years. also turns out i have another free one waiting for me upon my next visit. i would have taken a cros
or be like dmatz and have both the portobello version of that and a 13 in one sitting to total 112, which fittingly is the euro vision of 911
lately around these parts jm has the ff sandwich game on lockdown
will also sometimes dabble with eating pig meat at potbelly but only when forced to make a snap call and after ample use of vinegar
Thanks, everyone! Ha, looks like I picked good according to newguyhere. 😀
Really good!
My rankings
1. Club Sub
2. Club Supreme
3. Tuna
4. Mike's Famous Philly (add mayo and bacon)
5. Turkey and Provolone
6. The Number Four
7. Chicken Salad
The pepper relish is awesome, and I hear the hot honey is great as well, but I haven't tried it yet.
Also like Jersey Mike's best of our selection of sub shops, but I don't go for lunch much. Prefer the Italian.
Wondering if Red just orders a #99.
my mikes opportunities are so far and few inbetween nostalgia makes the order for me
do not doubt the 13 with pepper relish is top notch
I order the Big Kahuna with Chipotle Mayo on the side. It's an improved #99. You get more controlled mayo per bite.
Oh and last night I got the Red Robin $9.99 deal. Fantastic. Includes drink, unlimited side and burger.

Meanwhile last night I went to Dick's (Seattle fast food chain): got a deluxe (1/4 lb (total) double cheeseburger), a cheeseburger (1/8 lb, like a mcd's OG cheeseburger), fries (mcd's small size) and coke (mcd's small size); came to $17 even. That did include ~$1 for condiments (they charge 20c for tiny cups of ketchup and tartar sauce, I got 2 of each).
Shoulda gone to RR.

Do they call the deluxe double CB "The Big Dick"?
If not, they're missing a great marketing opportunity.
tbf I don't know Dick's.
LOL
Good enough!!!
Damn, now I want RR. Maybe I'll go tomorrow, but I don't know if I want that bottomless deal or if I'll try the Chicken Caesar Wrap (haven't had a chicken caesar in ages).
Probably just flip a coin.
A Jersey Mike's is opening here this week. Does anyone know if they are good? It looks like they have a couple of subs that I'm interested in, such as the club sub.
I don't do Mike's way (sin cebolla FTW!), but I did get a #13 this weekend. It was damned good, too.
What bread option do people get at Jersey Mikes? I almost always go rosemary parmesan.
Never considered not going white for my OG #13.
But I could see doing RP for turkey or ham, say.
I tried RP once with the italian and regretted it, went back to white. Have only done white with cheesesteaks too.
RedEye's non-white-bread #99 above did absolutely catch my eye, can't tell if it's RP or wheat. I could imagine RP working well with a standard cheesesteak, I'm intrigued to try. That said it doesn't seem like it would work with chipotle mayo or jalas.
That looks suspiciously devoid of both juice & mayo?
I regret never getting to Dick's in the summer I lived in the Seatac area. I don't think there was one particularly close to Lakewood back then.
#9 Club Supreme for Mikes.
Dick's is 100% worth trying as it's a local institution, however, a lot of people who didn't grow up with it don't like it much. I like it myself despite being a transplant but I'd guess it's 50/50 or I'm maybe even in the minority.
It was first described to me as "Seattle's In-n-Out" but that's way off IMO. For INO a big part of the appeal is the freshness of the veggies, whereas with Dicks there are absolutely no veggies on site except for: a) shredded iceburg lettuce; b) diced onions you can ask for on the side; and c) the pickle bits in the tartar sauce. Dick's is just a pretty-greasy fast food burger, with the cheeseburger (mustard + ketchup + onions if you ask for them) is probably closest to what the original McD's burger tasted like 70 years ago or w/e. I myself can really appreciate a greasy fast food burger, and I also am way behind the local thing of putting tartar sauce on a burger. But I completely understand why someone would be unimpressed. Their boardwalk-style fries (fresh cooked in peanut oil, with a limp/almost soggy texture, similar to 5G but thinner) are again right up my alley, but I know many people who don't like non-crispy fries.
Thread legend and Seattlite BigHurt (who looks to have abandoned 2P2 entirely a year ago?) thought Dick's was pretty trash as I recall.
Anyway I do like it a lot, but holy hell $17 for a big-but-not-huge fast food meal is hard to swallow. I don't know how high school kids are supposed to afford this. They're locally famous for paying above-minimum-wage to their employees and donating to charities, but I strongly suspect they're still earning some fat ass margins (on the backs of fat ass customers like myself).
Back in the day, as an underclassman at ASU (Go Devils!), there was a spot off-campus called Dick's University Drive-In (now lighted rail tracks). I always just assumed (look out!) it was related to the Seattle franchise. As I recall, it was very much like described above. Greasy burgers and similar. Between that and Greasy Tony's cheese steaks around the corner, our late-night drunken staggers back to the apartment were pretty well covered, food-wise. Good times.
