Yeah, I'm way late to the party. I never really dug into their stuff, but after coming across this video, I started to realize how cool they are. The vocals are great, but what stands out to me is the performance. I know they're just lip-syncing, but whatever. It's mesmerizing. Getting so down in such a laid back way.

This week The Ventures popped up on the old ipod. Damn! These guys are 100% awesome and every track they ever did is ultimately listenable. All covers, nothing original but if you like guitar instrumentals nobody ever did it better or at least more prolifically. These guys were guitar Gods! I choose this track because that drummer could hammer it out too!
Mel Taylor, replaced broken back Howie Johnson, who in turn replaced a future 4-star general who had to quit because too young for night clubs
no doubt the Ventures were guitar innovators, especially affecting special effects, specifically fuzz and 12-string combos
