Bad wrist to boot big win

So the USO XD is over already, I’m sure many people (and players) have disliked it to varying degrees, but if I had to change just one thing it would be to add a 5th round.

Add a third day for the 16 matches in Round 1, then the rest is the same . That would be a massive improvement. Too many deserving doubles players missed out on the opportunity to play because it was only 16 teams.

To take it another step, have 16 deserving doubles entries and 16 singles-pairs invitations. Perhaps even have the doubles specialists seeded 1-16 to see who’s better, two doubles players or two singles players.

Happy that the Italians won.

Listening to the Tennis Podcast and have to agree that the final should have been Fast 4 rather than sets to 6. So another change I would make is that the final be the best of five Fast 4 sets.

yeah, i was hoping she'd find a way to deal with it better, but i guess she's just always gonna be like this. really doesn't seem like she enjoys the who pro tennis thing, at all. sad

Biggest horseshit I've ever seen in this Bonzi Medvedev match

I didn't understand what Medvedev was saying to the ump re: photographer entering the court?

Just watched the highlights and am confused. I see comments saying he was trying to distract Bonzi and incite the crowd but what was he complaining about?

Ref ruled that Bonzi (serving on a match point) gets to have his 1st serve because he was hindered by the photograph just as he was starting to serve his 2nd

A bit weird it's based around if you started your second serve or not. Also that it's even a rule at the pro level.

It has been a great match to watch between Shapovalov and Royer.

So Ostapenko was so upset because Townsend didn't give the obligatory apology gesture for getting help from a net-court/net cord? Crazy. I always thought that apology for that was stupid, and as an adult I mostly don't bother with the gesture. Never knew people would actually get pissed off about this.

Gauff is really struggling. The question of whether she can get out of her own head when serving seems like it is going to be the defining issue of her career. I suspect she will, but it isn't certain.

The article I read about this conflict called it a net-cord. Now I have to look up what the norm is...

Apparently nobody calls it a net-court? Wtf. I'm all alone. I'm not referring to the physical apparatus, I'm referring to the play when a ball hits the net and then falls in. I thought that incident was referred to as a net-court. Because the ball hit the net, and then fell in the court. And I've been in tennis pretty much my whole life.

Yeah. It was a fun atmosphere. Felix totally deserved the win. His level of play was amazing. He had fifty winners in a four set match and was absolutely bashing his forehand in the last two sets.. I can't imagine that he has ever played a better match in a slam.

Rublev v FAA will be great. Rublev is so fun to watch, same with Boblik.

One of the strongest last 8 in a women’s slam. First time in almost 45 years that all of the quarter finalists are former grand slam finalists. Three Czech players, incredible.

Naomi Osaka into just her 5th quarter final. The previous four, she won the title.

If Iga wins the title, she won’t reclaim the #1 ranking but she will overtake Aryna in the race.

In the men, of course we’re just waiting for the inevitable final. Surely Novak can’t make the final, can he?
