to be clear RFK is a *lifetime democrat radical activist* that was an environmentalist lawyer , lover of nature, the usual hippie stuff.

yeah so .
u agree the majority of anti vaccine was mostly liberal decades ago ?

Did some research and moved on to just believing the Earth's flat.

The Flat Earth Society has members all around the globe.

Nice.

Me and my buddy joined it ~20years ago when it went online. Back then it was clear everyone was joking, trolling each other, writing ridiculous theories and proofs on a forum like this.

Sadly, now it seems some people didn't get the joke...

A snippet from a Time article about the history of anti-vaccination:

As mainstream medical opinion crystallized in favor of vaccination, the combination of liberal political values, holistic ideas about the body, and alternative health entrepreneurship shaped vaccine resistance after the Jacobson ruling. While the movement failed to discredit vaccination to the government or the scientific establishment, it achieved more modest gains, as many states began to allow for conscientious objection, limiting the compulsory element of the mandates.

Except many decades ago it was mostly liberals who were anti-vaxx.

If that's true it's even more damning of conservatism and shows how much both sides are not the same despite the mindless middle claiming they are.

General themes were still pretty much the same across the different eras. Which era are you thinking about--50s/60s or early 1900s/1800s etc.?

So, you'll miss me when I go extinct?

Well, iirc in 2021 the two biggest people-groups who were at least hesitant to get the covid jab were:

1. Right-Wingers

2. People of Color

That is to say, anti-vaxx isn't necessarily tied to political ideology.

Huh?

I was pointing out that POC typically have higher rates of alcoholism and obesity. It's not a political-axis issue. It's more economic than political imo.

Did you actually read the post I was responding to?

Looking forward to you giving even one an example any 'homophobic' post I've made.

And if you find one, then I will be permabanned, so you should be happy about that.

If it were economic, you would have specified that and not POC, so GTFO with that bullshit; if you're going to be the bitch, be the whole bitch and own that racism.

Maybe you missed the smiley face in both my post and the post I was responding to?

We were making semi-serious points with a measure of jocularity.

I would like to encourage you to stop being ridiculous. (I say that knowing that there is almost no chance that will ever happen, but thought I'd suggest it anyway.)

Looking forward to you doing your due diligence and showing my 'homophobic' post that apparently (according to you) I posted recently.

more people in the USA believed the earth is 6000 yeras old in 1991 than in 2019, so what's your point?

That would seem to be a normal logical progression. Folks who thought the Earth was 6,000 years-old in 1991 would obviously believe the Earth to be much older by 2019 (6,028 years-old obv).

Since you don't have a clue how to be funny, I'll give you a quick comedy lesson.

Here is the chronology:

1. Somebody (Lucy?) suggested that 'free' healthcare should be denied those whose poor health was a direct result of bad life choices.

2. Lozen responded with "Should we do that with smokers, obese and alcoholics."

3. Wet Work wittily answered Lozen with "Are you trying to destroy the entire right in one shot? πŸ˜€"

4. I (hilariously) answered Wet Work with "More like destroying POC in one shot πŸ˜€"

Part of the hilarity of my response to Wet Work was that the structure of my response closely matched the structure of Wet Work's response, which is: "Destroying X in one shot." For the joke to work the 'X' in my response has to be markedly distinct from 'X' in Wet Work's sentence.

The near perfect choice (I humbly submit) for a humorous contrast is 'POC' which is markedly distinct from 'the right.'

See how this works?

Hopefully this brief lesson in professional-level comedy writing will help you (and others) to be more entertaining in posting.

I'm glad I could be of service.

Thank you and good knight!

You don't get to dissociate from your older account just like that.

I'm not dissociating from it at all, dummy.

Land'OLakes claimed I recently made a 'homophobic' post.

Lol at you making like five indignant posts in a row.

Now you're trying the "Trump was just joking" line out on yourself. Hint: banned racists don't get the latitude to hide their racism behind a smiley emoji.

My take is a little different. It's blatantly obvious that subsidizing bad behavior is morally horrific. But you can't easily determine when and how much healthcare problems are caused by that.

Which is why public subsidized healthcare simply shouldn't exist at all

So you'd basically rather get bent over at full retail rather than getting the benefits of buying as a giant group? Because you have the perception some small amount of people might abuse it somehow? even if the savings were still much greater? No dice?

Luci just wants to get screwed on principle. Sexy πŸ˜€

In the USA there is no monopsony power at all, it's rather the opposite. Which is why paying out of pocket is often dramatically cheaper than the insured rate (have you checked that?).

And it's not "the perception of a small amount of people abusing", given i don't want to subsidize bad genes either. Behavior and genes explain the vast majority of all diseases, especially the expensive to treat ones.

Luck exists and plays a role (and it's why you can easily insure actual accidents anyway) , but if you don't believe that chronic conditions (which are the lion part of healthcare expenses) and reaching old age in good shape (which is the rest of healthcare expenses) aren't overwhelmingly determined by behavior and genes i don't know what to tell you other than "check eastern asian life expectancy in the USA vs actual natives (indians) controlling for income"

Well we'd be planning on bringing all of the people with bad genes along for the ride too--have you seen all those trump rallys? πŸ˜€

I don't really feel like getting into a protracted discussion on insurance here. Things are very much a mixed bag ime. And I have tons of experience with interfacing with our healthcare system from all angles fwiw.

Government is for the people .
Luciom: government shouldn’t help people in needs

IMO a healthy workforce creates a higher gdp then a unhealthy workforce.
I’m suspecting 1$ dollars spend in healthcare from
The government get some monetary multiplier benefits in gdp to have a healthy workforce .

Surely a health person working 5 days a week is more beneficial then a sick worker barely able to work 3-4 days a week ?
