Meanwhile, after missing a lot of football trying to troubleshoot Xfinity crap:

tldr: Xfinity fixed it already.

Paul Harvey version: After scheduling an appt to have a tech come out because they couldn't see a problem from their space station, Xfinity texted and said they now see a problem on their network that they were working on and I might lose services for a while.

About an hour later while I was walking one of the dogs an Xfinity lift truck came down the driveway and pulled into the backyard. They guy said he was going to check something on the pole. "Great!"
After a couple trips up and down I asked if he fixed the problem. He said he was only sent to see if there was a signal there before the tech came out and there was. Hoping against hope (because he made more than one trip to the top of the pole) after he left, I checked and I still had pixelation. An hour after that I got another text from Xfinity HQ saying they had completed their work and asked if I was still experiencing problems. Voila'! Everything is fixed--or at least back to normal.

I'm quite impressed that they fixed it so quickly on a Sunday, but still do not understand how their problem detection infrastructure is comparatively so lacking.
