Sorry was on a temp ban 😀 Nope and have no intention to

Then maybe you shouldn't make claims about what isn't in it.

I can only make claims I guess about what I’ve seen and heard . Yes I guess saying she does not criticize herself could be proven untrue but sadly the fact she is a bigot comes from her own mouth .
Her political career at a national level is done with the democrats is my prediction

Here's a young Democrat with some promise

James Talerico is running for Senate in Texas. A progressive and a Christian.

He was just on Rogan . Not a chance he can win a primary

Huh? Why would that be? He's the only very religious person I've ever heard who I would be happy to support.

I listened to that podcast and I thought he himself said he could not win a primary because of his strong faith . Joe loved him and said the same as you a great candidate for president. I thought so as well

I think you must have misunderstood something; why would he run if he didn't think he could win?

Oh sorry I thought you were talking President not the state senator

He's not running for state senator. He's running for US Senate.

Sorry that is what I meant in the last comment

Personally ..... I don't see his faith as a disadvantage in a Dem primary. Bernie got beat on because he's secular while people like Biden and Buttigieg are effectively bragging about their religious faith.

He's young and he's anti-billionaire / oligarchic control. He's optimistic and doesn't get bogged down in blue vs red polarization. He's just what the party needs ..... we don't need a white version of Obama in Gavin Newsom. A slick rich dude with rich friends who is oligarch friendly and capitalist through and through.

Talerico is a progressive ...... or so he represents himself. Fetterman and Sinema represented themselves as progressives too before they showed their true stripes after being elected. Same **** that Bill Clinton and Barack Obama pulled in their campaigns ..... campaign to the left, govern to the right.

That's kind of a disqualifier for me but it will play with the evangelical crowd. But who knows what the landscape will be like in a few years. So I really don't know what I'm looking for outside of what could win. That's job one for me. So my range is anywhere from AOC's Squad to Sinema's Blue Dogs. I prefer the latter but it's just going to depend on what things look like near election time.

What does a Blue Dog embody that attracts you ? Which policies are they associated with and who do you see as the demographic constituency that they appeal to ?

I'm as anti-religion as they come, but he says specifically that religion has no place in politics. You should watch one of his short speeches on YouTube, they're truly great.

Sometimes it seems like there is a Pavlovian response to the word "left". Like the dog who was trained to start salivating at the ring of a bell.

Which policies of the "left" do people fear so much ?

Does it bother people so much that neighborhoods without a grocery store will have the government provide them one ? Does it bother people so much that we would guarantee our citizens access to medical care, hearing aids and eyeglasses ?

What is it about the left that triggers people to such contempt, fear and anger ?

It's interesting that I wouldn't consider any of these policies leftist. My view of leftism is strictly through an economic lens so our views on health care, hospitals, prisons and big pharma are a natural fit.

As a leftist, let me say that I would be happy to agree with you on all of these.

The things that bug me about the far left isn't their interest in universal healtcare or workers rights or more govt protections because I personally want all of those things. More of those things, and for those things to improve and get better.

What I don't like about the far left is their elementary takes on how they think they can accomplish those particular goals. Their lack of understanding of how labor markets work, what causes inflation, comparative advantage in trade relations, how to accomplish innovation and how to fund it. How to allocate funds successfully and how to grow those funds.

...And of course, the unwilling acceptance that they me not know what they know about said things and want to completely dismantle said things bases on, often times, ideological emotions over correct play.

You've stated multiple examples of major errors that is encompassed within that group - and haven't and won't change you opinion, because you're too ideologically driven. It would behoove you to accept that multiple minds outside of your inner circle may know more than you about similar things.

Yeah there are people on the left who don’t understand those things, but there is nobody on the right who understands those things, so not sure why you would be so indignant towards a subset of lefties while not holding substantially more contempt for the right for objectively ****ing all those things up administration after administration

Probably because everyone seems to be getting fleeced towards two extremes and there is no shortage of posters willing to pile on why far right policies are a disaster.

But you and I arent talking about left in here. The most succesful economies in the world, the Nordic model is way left of US but that isn't what Nut Nut really wants other than a few snips of talking points like UHC or better workers rights.

I'd prefer to not swing from one stupidity to the other and I am talking to those who are much further to the left than someone like Mamdami or Bernie - both who'd be better than the status quo, which I've said... to Republicans.

by formula72 m

First .... let's celebrate what we have in common and the fact that we both want some of the same very important things like universal healthcare.

..

So tell me .... based upon your understanding of how all of these things work (and claim that leftists don't understand) ..... how would you expect universal healthcare to become practiced in the USA. What force would make it a reality ?

It would be pretty much the same response the last time you asked me this.

I would initially increase the marginal tax rate progressively for people who make over 1 million at 50 instead of 37% and increase it to around the range of 70% for 5 million and 80% 10 million. Similar to what took place in the 40s at lower income levels.

I would use that to jumpstart to program and gradually build it over years of implementation. Because we can't just wave a wand and make it happen overnight - just like we can't go from coal to 100% renewables overnight.

I would also again keep the largest corporations private, let them make their money and tax the ever-loving **** out of them and allocate that money towards a funded healthcare program.

I wouldn't take your route of nationalizing them, taking an immediate chunk of profits, implement the impossible UHC overnight and then cross my fingers that Amazon jsut continues to magically generate revenue at the same rate or that the healthcare changes work effortlessly without any issues with no backup plan.

Also. what I am proposing is horrendously left leaning so I should have reworded my earlier statement that I am not against left wing politics. I just disagree with those who seem to find "some" left leaning policies as "not going far enough" or still under the umbrella of "something bad", without giving any half way intelligent ideas of their own to attempts to remedy those things.

Do you realize that every industrialized nation on Earth has managed to tackle this issue with one conspicuous exception ..... the USA ??

What is it about this policy that makes you so anxious that you anticipate that it takes years of implementation ?

There are a multitiude of national models for us to emulate. All we have to do is choose which one suits us best and make it happen.

The displaced health insurance employees .... we'll either find them a job in the govt healthcare program or subsidize some training to get them a job in a new field. We can retire the high paid executives and the pharma lobbyists and their advertising budgets. That will have the nice result of putting an end to for profit corporate news which caters their reporting to suit their advertisers instead of the public. The media will no longer have a conflict of interest between their advertising revenue and public welfare as it pertains to health care policy.
