Yeah, there were plans to build a Hard Rock there. I am guessing they won't be interested any longer once they get a license for Citi Field, but who knows.

Ballys Blanco from the Bronx got the yes. So we’re waiting until December (at least) for the technical and de facto decision. Truth be told, I wouldn’t mind it if Ballys got it and EC didn’t. And that’s the only way I could see Ballys getting the license, doing the Bronx and Yonkers would be insane

You think RW or yonkers will have poker running that soon?

RW claims they will open 250 tables 6 months from licensing. Ignoring the high probability of general delay, I think it’s possible poker is included, not probable, and maybe not ideal.

250 tables is already bigger than basically any casino on the east coast. So they could easily include poker in the first rollout. But as we all know poker tends not to be a priority.

If they open a huge poker room immediately, dope. If they open a small poker room and promise to expand it with general expansion, dope. If they open a 30 table room and it never grows beyond that, I guess still dope, but significantly less dope.

first time i went to the bronx i was shocked to learn the subway didn't go there and the bar i met my local friends at had this old bronx tradition of you just lay out some money on the table - that lets the staff know your general budget and they just take money as required from the pile on the table as needed

very weird system, no set prices everything kinda just handled casually and occasionally staff will feel like you're owed one and just bring you a drink without taking anything

also very good way to tell who's local and who isn't because those using set prices and running tabs on cards aren't on the in enough to have earned the money on the table trust

Used to be very common in many parts of New York. I know of one bar in Brooklyn where we still do that, and often times the case at Knights of Columbus, American Legion , etc.

That's a buy-back. I used to drink in a Brooklyn bowling alley bar that did things that way in the early '90s.

Let me rephrase that. How likely is it?

It makes as much sense as having both Bronx and Yonkers?

The actual distance between either pair (8 miles RW to Citi, 11.7 Ballys to EC) might not be large, but they're NYC miles. By public transit, they might as well be in four different worlds.

I'm a little suprised that according to Google Maps, it's basically the same driving time for me from central Brooklyn to RW vs Citi and to Ballys vs EC, and it's only 10-15 minutes' difference between the pairs. But it's 11PM on a Tuesday. Any of those times would probably double at a time I actually wanted to go. (By subway, the nearest is Citi, an hour and a half. It's also the only one under an hour from Times Square.)

Queens has two airports, why not two casinos!?

Doesn't make a ton of sense, would've been better to have 1 in Manhattan or Brooklyn, but "sense" and how this process was designed don't always go hand in hand

How likely? Almost certain we will have two Queens casinos. Highly doubt Bally's is getting the license

Is Caesars definitely out of the picture? As someone who looks for excuses to keep his Diamond status and play the occasional WSOP circuit within driving distance of Philly, I was hoping for that.
