From what I can tell at their other properties, it does seem like they think poker is good way to draw people in. Never been to their room in Vegas, but everyone says how nice it is. Even in the Catskills, they have a poker room. I remain hopeful about a poker room
If they were smart, they'd open a big one and get a year jump on MGM, who will definitely have a poker room and seem to care about poker again

We can hope that with the possibility of being the only game in town for a year, they'll go big and try to lock down every player they possibly can. But their application materials seem to be 99% redacted, so who knows.
I would say August or September, tables games at least, we're probably a favorite. Maybe not June 1 or July 1 but know knows. It seems at least possible
Next date to watch is October 15 when supplemental application material is due, so hopefully we’re getting a look at more details in the RW proposal.
I forget if we discussed this detail, but it’s remarkably unlikely the licensing gets delayed— they’ve already booked the revenue for the licensing fees.
It’s a fairly good chance RW opens table games in summer 2026, 250 tables is already more than most casinos so maybe poker included but I’d say probably not. The second roll out of tables 150 more, is proposed for Jan 2027. At that point I’d be pre hopeful for poker. The remaining 400 tables proposed to be open by 2029. If they open 800 gaming tables and none of them are poker I will be so very very sad.
first time i went to the bronx i was shocked to learn the subway didn't go there and the bar i met my local friends at had this old bronx tradition of you just lay out some money on the table - that lets the staff know your general budget and they just take money as required from the pile on the table as neededvery weird system, no set prices everything kinda just handled casua

Seems like there is a non negligible chance that they don’t award all three licenses.

I think they're just leaving themselves that out in case something presents itself. Given the lack of federal funding expected over the next 3 years, the chance of that is pretty low. I think they will need the money
It was always going to be Metropolitan Park. Based on how the process was structured, it made it very hard for anywhere else to get CAC approval and anywhere that did was going to be dwarfed by Metropolitan Park

Apparently they cited new guidance that indicates the state is only awarding 15 year licenses and not 30, so they won’t be able to achieve their anticipated return on investment. Not good.

Seems like weird logic because it's unlikely they wouldn't get to keep operating the casino if it went well. Maybe they are concerned that New York will then come back and re-negotiate terms after those 15 years?
Either way, it's kind of weird they don't think it's worth it
