Nut Nut's Attempt At A Book About Politics & Society
Dear Forum Members,
Over in the poker threads, they have members who blog about their poker experience. I've been wanting
Nut Nut, most of what I’ve said here hasn’t been about gay issues — you’re the one who keeps reducing me to that. If anyone dragged “tribalism” into this, it was you. You introduced the idea that gay males can be reduced to a tribe which I don’t agree with, after specifically asking me for my personal perspectives. Big crises don’t exist in some vacuum; they’re always felt thro
Bryce, you belong to the tribe of gay men. It's something you were probably born into just as I was born into the tribe of straight men. It's not the only tribe you belong to so I'm not reducing you to that. You probably have a geographic tribe, educational tribe, vocational tribe, recreational tribe and maybe even a religious / secular tribe.
I'm trying with this thread to speak to the common human tribe. We all have a similar metabolism. We all eat food, drink water, piss and ****, breath in air. We all live on this one planet which is being transformed into a different version from which our ancestors evolved in.
This is a space to learn about some things we all have in common. Are you interested in learning about that ?

The above report is from the Potsdam Climate Institute .... it's their annual report on Planetary Boundaries chaired by Dr. Johan Rockstrom.
At this point, most of the boundaries identified have been surpassed and are in the unsafe or high-risk zone.
The 2 areas which are in the safe zone are
1) Ozone Levels ..... improving
2) Atmospheric Aerosols .... also improving
The areas which are not in the safe zone
1) CO2 concentration ..... safe zone is considered < 350 ppm. High risk zone begins at 450 ppm. We are at 425 ppm and growing ~ 3 ppm per year.
2) Radiative forcing ...... high risk zone begins at 1.5 W/ m2 .... we are almost double that at 3 W / m2
3) Human Appropriation of Net Primary Production - refers to the human harvesting of natural resources instead of allowing resources to be receycled and regenerate the natural environment.
High risk zone begins at 20%, we are at 30%
4) Genetic Diversity - background species extinction rates are 10x-100x levels considered safe.
5) Land System Change - Primarily the conversion of forest to human use. In the high risk zone.
6) Freshwater Change - Higher proportion of areas of water or moisture is either too dry (drought) or too wet (soggy or flooded). This is a stability issue.
7) Nitrogen & Phosphorus Pollution From Fertilizers - levels leaching into the environment are causing problems.
8) Ocean Acidification - Newly out of the safe zone. Ocean pH has dropped by 0.1 .... ~ 30% more acidic than a century ago.
9) Introduction of Novel Entities - refers to man made chemicals released into the environment w/o adequate testing.
Why are you hammering us with all this? We're not going to do anything. Instead you need to hammer the 8 figure family dynasties and clue them in on what the 9-10 figure club has in store for them.
Mobilization of the masses is mostly myth. Sure you can mobilize but keeping them going in the face of this level of structural resistance isn't going to happen. And just having a lot of people out there screaming rarely does much: last year was a record year for blacks killed by police. I get you don't like rich people but they're the only ones with the influence and independent means to get things done.
Yes. Yes, I am willing to learn.
I disagree.
Look at Donald Trump. He is the manifestation of massive anger and desperation at a corrupt establishment / system which only serves the wealthy. He is the avatar for an angry and desperate people and is well en route to destroying the system in chaotic fashion.
Revolutions happen ... in France, Russia and India they happened.
The reason I'm posting the information about bleak environmental outlook is to help people understand that they're backed into a corner and desperately need to fight for their survival. In a world in which "fight or flight" energy is inherent, there is no "flight" option. It's fight or die. I'm trying to tap into survival energy.

The famous psychologist Carl Jung warned about the dangers of a mass psychosis.
I think we're in one.
When the central idea of a society becomes "making money" ...... we've lost it.
We have lost touch with the basic distinction between what we NEED and what we DESIRE.
We don't need potato chips or coca-cola in plastic bottles. We desire them. And people make a shitload of money catering to human desires.
There's no money in protecting the environment. There's only money in destroying it.
Today I'm in the mood to write about the basics of humans which they seem to have in common with other pack animals.
Individual Characteristics
1) Survival is paramount
We are programmed by nature to eat, breathe, excrete, seek shelter from the elements and join into social tribes for protection.
Most of have some libido which programs in us the desire to have sex which leads to making babies. Some of us have the natural inclination to care for children which is essential to keep the species and our individual genetic trees and the pack going.
Mate selection .... we choose mates based upon some competitive criteria. Acceptance of male suitors by female is heavily skewed by a man's ability to be a provider. So, a man with good financial prospects has an advantage when it comes to fulfilling any natural urges toward procreation or sexual companionship.
We have a hierarchical orientation. Being high up in a social hierarchy brings survival advantages so we are constantly competing to improve or maintain our position. The exception to this rule is for the class of people who compete at the very highest levels In the words of Cersei Lannister ... "when you play the game of thrones, you win or you die".
Group (Tribal) Characteristics
Groups require mechanisms for making decisions. That means we need a hierarchy. Anarchy doesn't exist in nature. A hierarchy leadership and a need for succession criteria. In order for a group to remain sustainable, the leadership must make decisions which are compatible with group sustainability.
When conditions and the group's sustainability is threated, the members of the group undergo a revolutionary process and reform into a new group. They select new leaders which are aligned with the group's survival needs. In order to become the new leaders, the old leaders must either step down or be defeated in a competitive process. The new leaders must be willing to the fight the old leaders in a potentially dangerous or lethal struggle.
Not until the people became destitute and desperate. I don't see that happening in first-world countries. Instead, what we actually see are capitalist countries adopting elements from socialism, and vice versa. Not surprising, since both systems are designed to counter the weaknesses of the other. I think the tension that creates is a major contributing factor to the current social unrest.
But that's because the major cause of dissent is the view that things can't get better without a complete system overhaul. Back in the not too distant past, that kind of dissent never cropped up in the West because it was blatantly obvious which system was performing better across several metrics. Which is why socialist China and Russia opened their markets up, ie, it became blatantly obvious to the people that their present system wasn't performing as well for them as ours was for us.

I see Trumpism as a type of revolutionary movement. It's a fascist and authoritarian revolution. They invaded the US Capitol on Jan 2021.
Trump now considers me a terrorist due to my anti-capitalist stance.

Through this comprehensive strategy, law enforcement will disband and uproot networks, entities, and organizations that promote organized violence, violent intimidation, conspiracies against rights, and other efforts to disrupt the functioning of a democratic society.
Zuck came to mind when I read that.
Well .... I guess that since I'm technically lobbying for democratic communism, then I'm OK, LOL.
But I'm also lobbying for the end of the form of free-market capitalism which leaves GHG's unregulated and I'm lobbying for a global government entity which we could technically call "America" if we liked. I have nothing against the name spelled A-M-E-R-I-C-A.
For the record .... I'm not a person who feels like anything can be accomplished via violence. The people I'm competing with have far more aptitude and capacity for violence than I could ever imagine mustering.
At the end of the day ..... the thing that would make me feel most at peace is the regulation of GHG's ...... which Trump has declared the need for to be a hoax. I'm a political opponent of Trump's and the people who support his suicidal outlook.
Edit: I'm also a political opponent of Obama who entered the US into a Paris Accord that conveyed no authority to regulate GHG's. I'm not into empty politics as performance art.
I guess that my political orientation doesn't fit any conventional labeling.
I'm simultaneously for both democracy and communism. But I want the result of the democracy to vest all the power necessary in an executive to limit toxic byproducts of industry.
I'm fine with capitalist markets which are free in every other aspect except the freedom to pollute. That view effectively shuts down most present day capitalist activity.
The essence of my policy is survival of our species, and according to the experts I follow, our survival is dependent upon limiting pollution.
I don't want humans to induce an anthropogenic version of a mass extinction event such as the Permian Extinction.
The only real difference between myself and my political opponents regards the freedom to pollute.

That's the whole thing. If most people thought the same as you about the predicament, they'd probably be thinking along the same lines for leadership and societal structure. But most aren't looking at this as 'survival' which might require that type of leadership structure. Instead most people are future 'prosperity' orientated, which is a different sort of structure and candidate qualities.

I don't want people to take my word for it that our collective survival hangs in the balance.
I would like people to conduct their due diligence and engage in a free and open investigation. I want debate with science and math.
I have literally reached out to thousands of people and it slowly occurs to me how averse the average human is to any math which doesn't deal with currency or athletic statistics.
I'm observing the debate as to who should be the MVP in the American League between Aaron Judge and Cal Raleigh ..... the wealth of mathematical statistics that both sides can come up with is stunning. But the relationship between GHG levels and the impact on human civilization ? Sorry ..... no appetite for that.

Let me be absolutely clear: This is not about the climate!
This is about the air our children breathe.
The water our families drink.
The food that ends up or doesn’t end up on the kitchen table.
It’s about working people rebuilding their homes after another flood.
It’s about farmers watching crops burn under record-breaking heat.
It’s about seniors trying to survive blackout summers in 100-degree heat.
It’s about kids coughing through smoke-filled skies.
It’s about neighborhoods without clean drinking water.
It’s about emergency rooms filling up from things we used to call “once-in-a-century.”
And what do they tell us?
They say it’s not certain.
They say we need more studies.
They say we shouldn't “alarm the public.”
They say it’s too expensive. Too disruptive. Too early.
Let me tell you something: That’s not caution. That’s analysis paralysis.
And it’s exactly the script polluters and billionaires want you to follow.
Think about it.
We don’t let our kids play near train tracks.
We don’t ignore strange pains in our chest.
We don’t gamble the rent money on a hunch.
We wear seatbelts.
We buy insurance.
We put on sunscreen.
Why? Because the risk even if it’s small just isn’t worth it.
Don’t let anyone manipulate you into asking: “Will the worst happen?”
Instead, ask the only question that matters: “Why are we even risking ruin?”
And if you want to help, ask everyone you run into that question.
Family. Friends. Coworkers.
Because once you ask it, you don’t forget it.
And once enough of us ask it -- we act.
“Why are we even risking ruin?”

The Government of Finland published a future scenario paper which includes four alternative future scenarios: The World of CooperationThe World of Tech-giants The World of BlocksThe Fracturing World, an environmental and societal collapse scenario. I remember 25 years ago how the world was supposed to be collapsed by now from climate change according to the "scientists"

Please see a neurologist asap. I think you have dementia.
There are certainly people who are clickbait doomsayers ..... but the reputable scientists work on reports like the IPCC.
I'm attaching their synthesis report from 2001 .... that's 25 years ago dude. Doesn't say that civilization will be collapsing by 2025.

What I'm telling you .... is that civilization will be collapsed by 2050. Book it.

By 2050? Maybe in another 100, 000 years, nut nuts like you always overestimate how fast things move. 25 years is nothing.
All the doomsday predictors have been wrong and always have been. Only small chance you have is if the guys @ top lose their minds and unleash all the nukes.
It's nice that you are predicting it but you are a nobody posting on a poker forum of all places.

I think the reason we'll be going extinct in the near term is related to our mating rituals.
Mating is a competitive process. Like lions, mating rights go to the strongest males. And strength in the current version of society is defined financially.
The drive to mate is deeply primitive and apparently, not something we can transcend in terms of female desires to find male providers and male desires to give women what they want.
We don't offer men options to be masculine without destroying the planet in the process.
