Also Tucker Carlson has said he refuses to platform Fuentes. That kind of thing is a mistake. Carlson said he believes that like David Duke that Fuentes is effectively controlled opposition of some sorts. Well he could still sit down with Fuentes and tell him that’s what he thinks.

Here is the blatantly obvious issue at hand. Fuentes is pretty popular now. Any show he does gets massive amounts of views. So refusing to platform the guy is kind of a bad look most especially for people who claim to stand up for free speech and be against cancel culture. That includes Ben Shapiro and Carlson.

Fuentes went on the PBD podcast recently and that video has received nearly 3M views. You look at the other PBD podcast videos recently. They’re getting maybe 300k to 600k views.

Btw I like people like Vivek Ramaswamy who has asked YouTube to unban people like Alex Jones and Nick Fuentes. It’s kinda weird that YouTube is OK with content creators being able to interview Fuentes, but that Fuentes cannot have his own YouTube channel.

Ah that is subjective and actually kind of a coward’s way out. There are content creators on YouTube who have said highly controversial things and they’re still on the air.

I just go listen to Fuentes himself. On Dave Smith’s podcast within the first ten minutes he’s like “oh yeah people are starting to notice and wanting to do something about the Jews”. He’s not shy about his racism or his program.

Now fine you want to make some argument that he shouldn’t be banished to the shadow realm whatever. But there’s really no value to what he says unless you already bought into his racial and antisemitic view of the world.

Any criticism he makes of Israel or leftism or neoconservatism is already made better by others, he’s just really good at rhetoric.

The idea that everyone is allowed to play identity politics except for white Christian men was never going to be sustainable. This guys’ recent popularity is about this truth.

It’s meaningful because it indicates we’re reaching the end of that paradigm.

People who are attached to that paradigm will be in denial about its demise, but like I said, it was never going to last. It was a false kingdom.

Even if this guy flames out, I don’t see the old paradigm being recovered. We’re going to have to start back from the beginning and build on a more solid foundation.

In my opinion, this is not a 'free speech' issue at all. Fuentes is free to spew his garbage as often and as loudly as he wants. Nobody has a duty or an obligation to platform him. It's not cowardly, in my opinion, to refuse to grant someone with dispicable ideas an audience.

For good or bad I listen to nick fuentes, and Except for maybe knights I probably am the most familiar with his arguments.

Anyways, he would argue if you are taking about zonists or neocons or whatever, and refuse to platform him and let him use your platform to argue it is a Jewish problem, and the rest is ancillary, then you yourself are controlled opposition. And the zionists/Jews are the tail wagging the dog and using you as damage control.

I obviously can’t know what is truly in Nick’s heart, but at least the guy he plays in front of the camera seems to genuinely believe Jews are the problem, and need to be sent to Israel where their true loyalties lie. And there really isn’t any half measures that can be taken.

My ONLY point is that nobody has an obligation in any meaningful sense to platform somebody they personally find abhorrent.

Of course CNN or Fox News has no obligation to platform anybody. But from an objective viewpoint, they are hypocrites for platforming people like Ben Shapiro and Van Jones, but not Fuentes. As clearly Fuentes has a big enough influence on the American population that by the numbers he should be on those programs.

And I will say in my view this bizarre idea that people have that well it’s different if somebody is black or Jewish or Muslim compared to a white Christian is just preposterous. That’s why Democrats got swept in the 2024 election because of their cancel culture, DEI and woke insanity. The unfortunate thing some would say is that the traditional Democrat arguments which champion raising the minimum wage, healthcare, a strong middle class even anti-war are being drowned out by radicalism. So for the sake of Democrats becoming electable again, they need to abandon radicalism.

Fuentes as Many already know is banned on YouTube And for the few posters in this thread claiming that “Fuentes has violated YouTube’s terms of agreement”. That is just a cop out. It is subjective and what YouTube has done over the years is they have changed their terms of agreement to suit a political agenda. You can recall for years David Duke had a channel on YouTube. It was flooded with all sorts of nonsense Ideas about Jews controlling the media. Nobody took down his channel. None of his videos were deleted and then all of a sudden around 2017 or so his channel along with a number of other conservative leaning Youtubers were just deleted. Almost out of nowhere. It was clearly political interference. It’s cowardice too.

And for all we know people like Duke and Fuentes are some sort of controlled operation or shock jocks for profit. .. does not matter in terms of censorship just let the viewer decide.

Could actually be argued that we were as a society in America better off socially speaking in terms of race relations in 2016 compared to 2020 the summer of 2020 with the BLM riots exacerbated by the insane left-wing media and lefty politicians. And poor responses by Republicans to it too. So the point is that even though somebody like David Duke had a platform on YouTube in 2016 overwhelmingly the American people rejected him. And I think that he is clearly far more controversial compared to someone like Fuentes. Not that any of that really matters, the viewer can decide for themselves what they think about the viewpoint That is being presented. And one could argue that someone like Fuentes becomes more popular in a society in America, especially in the early 2020s, which was dominated by left-wing radicalism ie the absurd idea that a white homeless guy is privileged because of his skin color. ..All of the BLM nonsense.

Nick Fuentes again like Ben Shapiro Van Jones and tons of other people who go on platforms like fox or CNN has obviously said bigoted things. But because of his current popularity and influence on the American population, it is simply hypocrisy that he does not get a chance to speak on the mainstream news networks. Because CNN or Fox could have them on and then they can disagree with them. But they don’t because they’re cowards and they are hypocrites.

I’m not a groyper fwiw …. I’ve listened to about perhaps 45 minutes of the Dave Smith Fuentes podcast. And one of the points that was frankly common sense that Fuentes brought up is any American who is interested in politics whether or on the left or right really needs to provide a position on Israel/Palestine, whatever it may be. Even the non interventionalists as the US has supplied Israel with billions of dollars and military equipment. And the left needs to get involved, especially those who run around calling Trump a Nazi or racist who support BLM but who out of either cowardice or bc they do not want to be hurt financially say nothing about the Israel/Palestine issue. And there’s people on the left and right who out of financial interest whether it’s work related social media influencers or something don’t say much of anything on the Israel Palestine issue.

I will say I respect the folks who are open about their views on this topic whatever it might be. Because it is a major issue. This is specifically for people who claimed to follow American politics or care about it. They really ought to provide their position on Israel/Palestine, whatever it may be because of the global ramifications it has.

I certainly don’t watch Fuentes anywhere near as much as I watch Carlson, Glenn Greenwald or Candace Owens. Or Pierce Morgan for that matter. I watched Fuentes do a podcast with Adam Sosnick and PBD in full along with more then a few 10-20 minute segments of Fuentes on various platforms.

I will say with regards to Dave Smith and Fuentes …Smith brought up a great point that it was actually many American Jews who back in 2003 opposed the war in Iraq. In response to Fuentez’s point that the war in Iraq was in large part to help out the Israeli government which Smith agrees is a fair point, but he was simply reminding that plenty of American Jews were not on board with that war.

And that lots of American Jews completely disagree with funding the war in Gaza. Fuentes didn’t really respond to that he just kind of went on about his views on American Jews and possible dual loyalties to Israel.

Well, it appears I am much more familiar with Fuentes than you are. And your moral relativism comparisons between him and Shapiro seem very disingenuous IMO. As far as I can tell your main outrage with Shapiro is over something he wrote 25 years ago in his early 20s and apologized for.

Fuentes says several "provocative" things that CNN or Fox would never want on their platforms every 1 hour show he does. His show today he went on a rant about his perspective of Jews is framed by being a Catholic, and his religious conviction Jews have betrayed their covenant by denying Jesus (that isn't exactly what he said, but it was something along these lines).

Again, this isn't really the type of material CNN is in the business of platforming. And it isn't a one off. Every show is something outside their Overton Window. He seems to be doing fine on Rumble, X, Telegram and going on other people's Youtube shows; and saying whatever he wants about Jews, blacks, Muslims, etc. I really dont see a compelling reason CNN should be pressured to platform him.

I would say that from an "objective viewpoint" it is not hypocritical to platform Shapiro and Van Jones but not platform Fuentes.

Certainly from your own personal "subjective" viewpoint you are free to view CNN and FoxNews as being hypocrites.

Fox News platforms people who say outrageous things about Muslims. Possibly worse than Fuentes. Look there’s no way around this It is simply a matter of influence. Nick has huge political influence So it’s just a dumb move by traditional media outlets to not give the guy an interview.

And obviously Shapiro he said many things that folks say is bigoted … of course that is all subjective same thing with Fuentes. I mean, snowflakes are the ones who don’t want certain people to be platformed and not allowed on certain programs. Multiple times a year going on for 10 or 15 years Shapiro talks about things like the threat of radical Muslims. Imagine just for one moment if he simply replaced Muslims with the word Jews. And how even you would react. Again people have a right to agree or disagree, but if people want to snowflake let them snowflake.

I’m not going to sit here and attempt to justify a scenario for fox or CNN to ban Shapiro. That’s not what somebody who believes in a marketplace of ideas and free speech would do. It’s not the American way and it doesn’t really make any logical sense wherever somebody might be from.

So objectively yes CNN and Fox are hypocrites. And objectively from a standpoint of free speech …. and knowing that people like Ben Shapiro stand against the culture of trigger points and safe spaces, the guy is a downright hypocrite for pushing for the censorship of people like Fuentes.

One way to engage him is immediately put him on the defensive wrt the catholic thing. The original nativists/know-nothings(basically 1.0 trumpers) were Far more anti-catholic/papist than antisemetic. He tries to act like he's on completely firm ground claiming he's part of the true American birthright--when that's pretty debatable. MD is more of an example against him from the religious freedom standpoint.

He's basically doing the classic immigrant deflection routine--trying to take the focus off yourself by pointing the finger at other minority groups. As a catholic--his loyalties are just as questionable as he accuses jews of being. And they have the same rights he does to advocate for what they want. His view doesn't hold any special preference just because he thinks so.

And how is Shapiro 'pushing for censorship' against Fuentes? I'm unsure you even know what 'censorship' is. Calling on podcasters to not platform Fuentes is NOT an example of censorship.

There is virtually ZERO 'censorship' of Fuentes. Almost anyone on the planet with internet can view Fuentes' channel 24/7 on Rumble.

It is kind of ironic a Catholic with the last name Fuentes is positioning himself as a "nativist" on a mission to get rid of minorities because of their dual loyalties.
