Got wrecked at plo today versus the action who turned a higher set against me when I flopped middle set open ender. Got outdrawn a couple hands too. Also paid off 3! Pot top pair second nfd versus top set nfd as the preflop 3!ttor. I b/b/c. Decided to change it up and play 1/2 big o again which looks very soft. What a terrible month so far.

I thought I might do an ohm and namaste at 10/25 and internally said a mantra to play tight. I get KK 3! in bb super happy and get stacked on QQ7ss at spr 1 by Q9s. Omh my tush. WTF is going on. I’m going to need to find another source of income soon. My job can’t keep up with this.

Witnessed a funny hand at plo tonight…player pots flop and turn A pots again says need a deuce on river. River is terrible bringing in multiple straights. He tables his set out of turn with his opponent left to act. Then he jams his last $1, 300 anyway. His opponent says “I call! I have straight!” He tables his hand. He does not have a straight at all he misread his hand and AA wins.

Wrapped up a nasty session at 10/25 where AA held in a 3! pot and won some smaller pots uncontested. Undid some of the losses on the day, but still a loss. Ayee. At least played heads up big o a little AJJ94ds held A96 flop in 3! pot. Also got some money back in the game from someone who owes me lifetime...hehe.

Now that I've taken a week off work and gotten thoroughly pummeled at poker well into a record-breaking downswing and losing month I am starting to think sticking to the job isn't such a bad idea. I remember late last year when things were not going that well also and I was seeking more meaning in life than just cards. Well this time is even worse because not only am I breaking even but I am losing a lot and running low on cash because the vast majority of my money is invested in the market. I swear lately everyone gets exactly what they need against me, bottom pair makes trips gutshot you name it.

I’m up over $7, 000 today. Thanks to a very nice player who I had the privilege of playing with. I might get out of this downswing earlier than expected.

Funny exchange, I show the bluff to an unfriendly reg and he says (he reads the blog) “closer to getting out of your $30, 000 downswing now.” I love the fact that he is a follower despite being very mean towards me and not an ally of the mentally disabled community.

Hairy or smooth men?

Some hands from yesterday’s comeback session:

5/10/25:
3! A5dd versus action, call, flop J42dd, cbet pot he flats. Turn 7s bringing bdfd. He x I jam $1, 800 he snaps with A8ss. I get scooped.

3! AQo ds flop T82ss. X/x/$200 from action call. Turn Ks. x/$400 call. River Jx. I jam $1, 200 call mhig versus KT.

Defend 83s in straddle versus open and action caller, 943ss my fd, call flop cbet. Turn 8, x, c action $300 I c/r $1, 200 he flats. River 5. $1, 400 call. Mhig.

2/5/10: 3! 99, get two streets on Q434Q. Raise 87s, flop K88, b/b/jam and get called by ?

B/b/j AJ K75TQ he sadly folds river.

At this point my hourly at 5/10/25 hold em far surpasses my plo hourly due to some adjustments in my game so I am going to be playing much more hold em moving forward when game conditions are right. My hourly in a good plo game may be better than my hourly in a bad hold em game.

“Morning” lattes now on the couch while enjoying seeing the market rebound.

Had some smooth rungood last session at plo no real spots just getting it in well or getting there. Up $2k. Hopefully this keeps up for the rest of the year so I can finish 2025 strong.

Everyone I talked to encouraged me to keep the job and my list of pros and cons slightly favors the pros in terms of number of factors. So I guess for now I’ll stick with it. I did submit a request to telework four days a week instead of two as an accommodation to make things easier on me commute wise.

Ran really good at plo up over $5, 500, just couldn’t lose an all in no matter what I had 76544 AQ532 AAJT5ds you name it, but at 5/10/25 lost top pair to serial bluffer btn v straddle on Q9672cc clubs bricked I had an 8 blocking his best value hands and he chose a polarizing sizing so I looked him up but he had 99. Won 98 on 983 versus J9 all in otf too. Lost T9s to QQ in 3! pot at 2/5 QT8r and AKs to 66 on KK867. At least I checked my monthly results and I’m pretty much unstuck for the month already which was better than I expected. Woohoo! Now to start profiting this month again.

Game selecting well avoiding the mix and bad hold em game and running hot at plo. I already know what works, why change that? If I just grind plo and hold em when the game is decent I can print all the money I need. Do I really need to play the big games and conquer mixed games?

Nope. I'd rather print money 😉

For real! Last night ran good at plo again up over $5,000, biggest pot was top set AAQQ9 holding versus big wrap AT8hh, lost a little elsewhere for a good profit.

Easy to say just grind my best games when I am running good, but when I am not I want a little variety like the mix to keep things enjoyable.

Did ok at plo, got a seat in 10/10/50/100 again and did ok, won KKTT9 in 3! pot on KQ2 versus presumably AA, lost some flips and dramaha hands at the end of the night. Played 10/25/50 a little and got 99 in straddle versus MP open and x/c down JT39A b/b/j and lost to 87s.

The decision shouldn't be between *this job* and no job, right? Is it possible to get another job in your ~area of interest that wouldn't be as taxing and yet you would still find rewarding / purposeful?

Trition High stakes Invitational Cash. That should be his grind. I watch those guys on youtube flick chips around. 1.3 million dollar pot run it twice QQ vs AK all in preflop. Ends up split. He might also be able to help Tom Dwan and others with his legal background regarding mental heath issues for a side hustle.

Played 30/60 limit and ran well, made $2k, made 75432 5 badugi in badeucy to scoop number 2 number 2. Made an 8 in badugi that was good too and scooped AAJTcc on J53ccJ versus A24.

At 5/10/25 had a bad image but got paid handsomely with 97s in 3! pot on A998Q versus Ax. I actually won on my birthday for a change! The curse is lifted!

At 10/10 the other night a funny moment happened when player bet $125 with three left to act with a short stack with $250 in the hand last, the two big stacks had none of it and jammed. I said “he can still reopen the action, ” prompting laughs.

Happy Birthday! Glad it was a winning one 😉

Happy Birthday! Glad it was a winning one 😉

Thank you!

Lost a little the second half of my birthday, had lunch with my family to celebrate, saw my ex. Have to work my birthday weekend which isn't fun and have an early Monday morning court docket tomorrow.

Not a ton of interesting hands, got AAQJTss in pre against AAK42ds and chopped, iso'd AQJ83ss and lost to AK766ds at a very low spr on 763r. Got KJQ99ds in three ways and scooped that one. Lost a bunch of waterfalls and wrapped up losing around $1k at 10/10/50/(100) plo5. At 1/2 plo5 got stacked in 3! pot with mid pair nfd to top set but made it back with AQJ42ds against presumably AA in a 4! pot on AK9 both my fds.

Trying to keep my spirits up but I think interacting with so many of my clients has taken a toll on my mental health as I have started having suicidal ideation, something I have not experienced in a long time. The suicidal clients are especially hard to handle emotionally. I understand why my predecessor quit after a year and started taking antidepressants.

As I say Dumbo, is there any other work areas which you'd find rewarding / purposeful and yet not be so stressful / poor environment for your mental health / something you could easily leave behind after you clock out every day?

Play poker full time 80 hours a week even. Become the best cash game poker player.

I won the dramaha tournament last night, icm chopped as dominant chip leader heads up. Ran very good, getting dealt a lot of trips and two pair and AA. Ran meh at 5/10 running AKo into QQ btn v bb and A5s against an obvious bb squeeze from same player and ran into JJ. Won at plo at least. Up several thousand on the month but not as good as I would like by now.

I've been looking for other jobs but none I've seen look interesting.

You should get a job where you try to get as many mentally Ill people running free on the streets as possible. Make America Crazy Again.
