2025 NFL Season Thread: Can Uncle Rico save the Broncos or will they be Nixed?
Greetings friends.
Those of you who know me know me as a Niners fan full of fantastical levels of vitriol and rage. I hav
If you go through Game Winnjng Drives on pro football reference, the QB with the highest % of them in the top 20 isβ¦..
Derek Carr.
seems like a mostly pointless stat. i'd rather just have a guy who wins by 20 a lot
was gonna say that list at least says something interesting about unitas, but i didn't realize he played for like 17 years, so i guess not actually
Crazy Johnny U stat:
Of the top 10 longest "Consecutive Games with a TD" streaks, JU is the only one that started prior to 2002:
Mahommes-31 (2019-2021)
Luck-34 (14-18)
Favre-36 (02-04)
Romo-38 (12-14)
Cousins-39 (20-22)
Brees-45 (12-15)
Unitas-47 (56-60)
Manning-51 (10-14)
Brady-52 (10-13)
Brees-54 (09-12)
Because he is the greatest to ever play the position.
'Twas not a pass-crazy league in those days.
indeed
a lot of 'stablishing going on during his time
I don't know the stats, but as a kid growing up in SF watching Joe Montana, seemed like he was 100% when he needed a game winning drive. I remember at the time thinking it was incredible how he was just automatic, and don't remember him ever not scoring.
his niners also had an absurd rate of scoring a TD on their first drive. supposedly, bill Walsh would script the first drive ahead of time. and they were the only ones doing that
Great job putting the Chiefs at number 1. Most are delaying the inevitable and have them at 5. This offense is already humming. Getting Rice back will make them unstoppable. Their RB room is playing much better. Pacheco is getting his explosiveness back. Hunt is playing well. B Smith will become more and more of a weapon. The Lions and Bucs should be ahead of the Packers, Eagle
I dont necessarily agree with the Chiefs. They're playing better, but they just lost last week to the Jags Whom you label a pretender. Sure it was on the road but its still a bad loss on prime time if they're the best team in the league. The old chiefs dont lose that game.
I think I got to put the Bucs at 1. Evans has been out, Godwin pretty much out all season, Irving hurt last couple games, and they're still doing it. One loss in a close game on the road vs a good team.
I agree with your statement about the 2nd tier except the Rams. They have to be considered as a possible contender-they have the talent. I do like Seahawks, but I just cant trust Darnold.
What is your obsession with Greenlaw?
Uh oh, look out the rest of the league!
"I feel like I've been a little bit too conservative in a sense," Fields said. "Probably just [need to] be a little bit more aggressive. I've always just been big on ball security and not putting the ball in jeopardy, but it comes to a point where you just have to find that healthy balance between trying to maybe fit it in smaller windows and just letting it rip."
in b4 panthers win 37-6

Rice coming back is gonna significantly upgrade this offense. His presence is gonna open things up for all players. I mentioned Pacheco getting back to his old self. It's tough to do a power ranking these days since there is so much parody. I am putting my money on the teams with the mega star QB's.
I wasn't sure where to put the Rams with the Puka injury. I thought he was gonna be out a little longer at the time.
The Broncos have an elite D line and secondary. Their linebacking play is by far the weak link. Alex Singleton is not yet himself coming back from the injury. A healthy Greenlaw would significantly elevate this squad. His presence would put the Broncos into all time great defense territory. He is an elite coverage linebacker and is great stopping the run. When healthy he is one of the top linebackers in the league. If he was playing at the time, John Taylor and Hampton wouldn't have had the great games they did. Denver certainly would have won those games and be undefeated right now. Denver is playing the long game regarding Greenlaws injury. They understood the risks involved in signing him.
I bet the Niners wish they had Greenlaw back now that Warner is out. Dre certainly has an injury history. That being said, Shanahan and Lynch flew out to Texas after Dre agreed to sign with Denver in order to make a last ditch effort to bring him back. That tells me all I need to know about what they thought about him. He is back to practice and might play this week.
The Browns should let Gabriel and Shedurr each play a half on Sunday.
If either looks terrible, they should be cut immediately.

They could have just kept Baker and not be in this mess. Not to mention all of the picks and money they gave away. Not to mention the public relations nightmare of trading for Watson. Not to mention they wouldn't have had to use two picks on QB's this year. Not to mention they are wasting a very talented defense. I'm probably forgetting to mention something.
I'm a little surprised by two of the lines this week
Browns -3 v Dolphins and Lions -5.5 over Bucs.

Heβs damn good but playing next to Warner certainly helped him; same with the guy who played next to Willis.
We can play injury/salary cap whatif games all day & night.

I'll be very curious to see how much he can elevate this already good defense. We haven't had an elite LB for many years. I realize it's a fragile situation. The good news is that Denver has a fantastic training facility and a fantastic strength and conditioning coach. The Walton's have put a lot of money into all of this. Maybe they can keep Dre healthy. I'm cautiously optimistic.
