Yeah, just scoring a 0 seems fine for a miss at any stage.
The risk/reward scoring will go like this
Getting it on word 6 = 1 point. Missing on word 6 = -1 point
Getting it on word 5 =2 points. Missing on word 5 = -2 points
Getting it on word 4 = 3 points. Missing on word 4 = -3 points
Getting it on word 3= 4 points. Missing on word 3 = -4 points
Getting it on word 2 = 5 points. Missing on word 2 = -5 points

Successful guess on word 2 = 5 points
Successful guess on word 3 = 4 points

Unsuccessful guess in any spot = 0 points
Ok Let's give it a shot with Match 1 (10 days) starting Monday Oct 27th
The guessing words are predetermined.
You start like this, and in this order (with the game set to hard mode OFF)
GLENT
BRICK
JUMPY
WAQFS
VOZHD
You can decide when you want to break away from the above and make your guess. The game ends for you at that point as you will either have guessed correctly or missed. If you don't make your guess sooner, then you must guess on the 6th turn.

The scoring
Successful guess on word 2 = 5 points
Successful guess on word 3 = 4 points
Successful guess on word 4 = 3 points
Successful guess on word 5 = 2 points
Successful guess on word 6 = 1 point
Unsuccessful guess in any spot = 0 points
DNP = 0
Match 1 starts on Monday Oct 27th and ends on Nov 5th (10 days)
I'll keep score for the 1st match and suggest that the winner of the first match score the next match, and so on.
Based on early practice it looks like there will be lots of ties each day, but we'll see....
