The NHL Thread
For the 5 of us who post NHL stuff, here you go. Officially the season starts Tuesday October 11, although there were tw
Joe Pavelski of the Stars was one of the best at it. He would stay after regular practice and do tip drills. The way it was explained to me was that the goal tender is likely to be in the middle of the net or shaded to the puck side and the deflector is trying to change the trajectory just enough to still hit the net and the goalie has no chance to react. I looked but I don't t
It's gotta be out there. I don't know where you'd find xG numbers for every shot, but theoretically you could look at the xG for a few tip-ins (or tip attempts) and get an idea. Surely there's a number of factors that make each tip different, but for a ballpark figure it should do.
Watching the baseball playoffs I think I like this idea of 2-3-2 Home Away thing for the NHL
Habs 4 OTs and 4 wins in OT. They've got so many guys that are unstoppable 3-on-3 that it's not getting to the SO. Caufield especially comes up with absolute highlight reel goals in OT that you don't really see him score 5-on-5. Habs know they'll get scoring from the top line, but it's important to get other lines rolling and the Dach-Veleno line was cooking w/those 2 guys a
Holding leads has been problematic
No. NHL very rarely play consecutive days in the playoffs. The visiting team would be away from home for a week, the Jays will probably be home by tomorrow morning totally ~ 4 days.
Yeah but players are gone longer than that during the regular season as well. I wouldn't want them to play every night but every other . It be less travel for them as well
Id be curious if polling the players what they thought

Not really, they are gone but traveling city to city between games. Not sitting around a hotel room for a day waiting to play. Plus home ice is a bigger advantage than home field, I don't think teams would agree to the possibility of playing 3 consecutive road games in the playoffs.
bad start yet again
1 game today, leafs involved
jays also playing in the ws obv (yes i know they couldn't account for this, shut up, im just sayin)
also, the raps in action
the scheduling has been sick so far this season
Blais scores already!
Ya I stopped watching, Woll needs to get back.
Anybody else notice the Mammoth are leading the central division in the west?
They just extended 21 year old Logan Cooley 8 for 80.
He was drafted by the Coyotes. One of the last things they got right along with selling the team.
Doubt ec_outlaw pays much attention to this thread anymore, but I'm sure he must be pissed.
I can’t remember seeing a 5 on 1 by CBJ
kiefer sherwood on pace for like 55 goals, as we all expected

Cooley is a bonafide stud who turned down a contract with them a few weeks ago. I’m sure Utah is ecstatic right now, especially considering they signed him for less than Necas, and I’m sure that the Cooley deal is going to look way better in a couple years if not sooner than that.
Cooley got his introduction to hockey by going to this dude below’s camp as a child. Seems to have worked out pretty well.

Vilardi looks like he's having a ball.
I would love to have a beer with him.
What in the beep is this anthem? lol
Oh my! Matthews did something!
Wow Leafs winning since me and no one watching, lol
Habs win one in OT? That's unusual.
