2024 Fantasy Football Thread
Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of Jan
Jakobi to the Jags
I guess it can’t be worse than Vegas. But I’m not sure how much better it’ll be.
Tory Horton szn dead as soon as it started.
ADM has been freed.
I feel like the Jets made a great move, but at the same time, it’s the jets so I have to be wrong (2 1sts + ADM for Sauce)
Ya, I think that's a smash trade for the Jets. The Colts probably overpaid, but I get it. They're competing and their secondary is decimated. Sauce still has the upside.
That is a very nice feature. I try not to reach more than 5-10 spots for QB, especially when my next pick is that close to ADP. I also try to protect myself by almost always giving myself multiple outs. It doesn't always work out, though. I just finished a BBM slow with Bryce, AR, Darnold, and Dart, without Darnold/Dart stacked, so that team is dead lol.Bryce, AR, Darnold,
Or maybe not haha. Just came across this team that finished on 6/1, because I searched my advance rate with Bowers. The bad is that I'm only advancing 6/93 when the baseline is 17.4. The good is that 3 of those 6 are in BBM, including this team. I actually don't hate this team at all, even without much stacking and originally thinking I was close to dead at QB. It might be
I have 6 Darnold/Shaheed teams and this is one of them. Bowers comes back and smashes right as Kraft is injured. It's currently my highest scoring BBM team at 4,586 on the LB. The team of destiny?
I'm only advancing 5/44 Shough teams, but this one has some serious legs if he can be even close to average. Damn Skattebo injury.
Spoiler
20 of my 44 Shough teams are SF. 4 of them are advancing. The only nonSF advancing is a Pom team that has Dak/Tua.
Lol, one of my other Darnold/Shaheed teams. The Darnold/Shaheed stack hits way better than the Shough/Shaheed stack. And this trade should be good for Olave.
No Darnold/Shaheed for me, but I do have 4 Fields/ADM teams.
I don't have any Fields/ADM, but I didn't draft much ADM. 51/1,099 teams. I drafted 93/1,099 Fields teams.
I guess it's possible I have one or two between the MMG Best Ball League and DK teams. No idea, since I can't check those easily.
Have 3 Darnold/Shaheed and 10 Fields / ADM
Poor Garrett Wilson.
Like getting left behind on a deserted island.
At least he got the bag. Poor guy actually said he was happy being a Jet. I think he was just happy Rodgers was gone.
Let's go!
Not much about the injury until practice reports today, but that doesn’t look great.
Me neither lol. But I look at almost all of the players in that range and say no thanks.
I did a 2-6-6-4 yesterday.
Given the fragility of the WRs/RBs past round 8-10 or so, I’ll probably mostly keep hammering early RB/WR and filling QB/TE with volume.
Sucks to see Bowers back in the 2nd.
I think I like one more earlier RB and one less WR, but it has potential.
I have never made it this far in Guillotine before
We’re down to 7 teams and a top team with a bunch of studs lost last week. I was able to bid 115 of my remaining 135 (so 20 left now, started with 200) on Bijan and Gibbs
Is having $20 left at this stage too little? My squad is very strong I think, but wr may be too weak in a few weeks and te is bad, but I’m guessing I can recover
Half ppr
Starters
Qb Lamar
Rb Bijan
Rb Gibbs
Wr Nico
Wr Adams
Te Fannin
Flex Henry
Flex Judkins
Bench qb - Maye
Bench rb - Bucky, Brown, Vidal
Bench wr - waddle, Diggs
I am down to 2 out of my 5 guillotine leagues. It has been a learning experience and I plan to play in these again next year. Way more fun (and strategic!) than normal fantasy leagues.
I lost my first team in week 5 due to a combination of byes, inhuries and poor planning on my part around those byes. Even still I only lost by a point and would have been in good shape had I survived those mistakes.
Then I lost 2 more teams in week 8 becuase I didn't diversify. Started Mayfield in both leagues and he busted hard that week which sent me packing. Both teams had Herbert (who had a great week) and one had both Herbert and Maya and Maye also had a great week. I should have never played him in multiple leagues as either team would have survived easy with one of the bench guys. QB is the only spot where diversification makes sense and I didn't do it and paid the price.
The 2 teams I have left seem pretty stacked with 5 teams still alive in each league.
Team A (only $55 left in FAAB second lowest in league)
Starters
QB Allen
RB Robinson
RB Jacobs
WR Jefferson
WR London
TE LaPorta
FL Jeanty
Bench
qb - Mahomes
rb - Kamara
wr - Lamb, Egbuka, Flowers, Metcalf
te - Ferguson
Team B ($147 FAAB, most in league, next closest has 100 and others barely anything)
Starters
QB - Hurts
RB - Henry
RB - Jacobs
WR - Jefferson
WR - Smith-Njigba
TE - Bowers
FL - Cook
Bench
qb - Stafford
rb- Jeanty
wr - Adams, Higgins, Harrison
te - McBride, Gadsen
Happy with both teams and especially team B since it has FAAB control. Not sure how I feel about starting Jeanty on one team and Bowers on the other tonight? No real faith in LV offense . McBride and Bowers is really a coinflip so I may go McBride? I like Jeanty on the other team as the flex rather than a WR (Egbuka, Flowers or Metcalf) as RBs have better floors and I think high floors are the goal here.
But I have learned a ton here on how to manage the FAAB and manage bye weeks and overall strategy. Both of these teams may very well bust as great players bust every week. But this is a fun format that makes you stay involved and use strategy which I enjoy. I will likely play in a bunch of these next year.
