General TV Discussion and Thread for Shows Without A Thread Thread
OOTV doesnt like family comedies much huh? Raising Hope and The Middle are two of the best(possibly the best outside of
I'm watching it, it is entertaining enough.
It feels a bit more scripted than Season 1 at times.
But I hardly remember Season 1 because things like this immediately leave my memory when I am done watching them.
Only 4 episodes posted so far, more post tomorrow and then the last one next Tuesday.
Spoiler
About 2 episodes in, I thought Steven Jones had already been eliminated (after the 5 legged race because I started watching for his number 183 and didn't see it), but he starts getting some screen time late in episode 3.
Task was good but not great I'd say, didn't blow me out of the water. Solid watch and it is nice for a show to actually take a good half to almost full episode to close things out fully. Don't need every show to wrap every single loose storyline thread with a bow, but it is refreshing to get proper closure.
Show felt like a miniseries version of A Place Beyond the Pines. Very similar vibes and feel of multiple characters. Robbie reminded me of Gosling's character, and also that of Llewelyn Moss from No Country For Old Men. Someone you root for and is also gone from the story before you really want them to be.
Is Stranger Things any good?
I remember thinking the 1st two seasons were ooook but immediately lost interest during s3e1.
I saw the S5 trailer and the visuals looked sick! Strong looks can make up for other flaws.
Maybe I'd rewatch and end up in the same spot though so someone gives me their thoughts on the show.
All's Fair - not sure how I let this Kim K legal drama get by me for so long.
Highly recommended!

From one of the, I think, nicer reviews:
I did not know it was still possible to make television this bad. I assumed that there was some sort of baseline, some inescapable bedrock knowledge of how to do it that now prevents any entry into the art form from falling below a certain standard. But I was wrong.

I loved S1, im a sucker for nostalgia, but for me its been diminishing returns with every season.
Prime example of bigger isnt always better. Its gone so big in scale, they ofcourse have to go and save the world now, it lost all the fun and charm of the first season. I lost all interest and didnt finish S4.
Pluribus is both horrifying and hilarious....gonna be interesting to see where it goes
In for Pluribus.
Breaking Kim 🍿
Vince says he wants the show to go 3 or 4 seasons. They built the entire cul-de-sac of homes for it.
About a week away from the new season of Landman.

Thumbs up.
I'll read the chatgpt summary when it's over and be satisfied with that!
Death By Lightning was a pretty good watch. 4 episodes and an incredibly stacked cast. It's hard to tell what it is from time to time since it's a drama one second and an absurd comedy the next. Tom Wambsgans is the highlight!
Im really curious in what directing they are going with this. They have established alot these first 2 episodes, but what now? After the 'finding out' phase?
I have no idea where the story is gonna go (for 3-4 seasons?) Great so far though.
Slow Horses was a weird season imo. Not bad, but weird. Not sure why they turned River into a big joke
Finished Task which was great and started binging Mare of Easttown. Phenomenal actors throughout this show.

Other reviews:
“I did not know it was still possible to make television this bad”
the show felt like it had been written “by a toddler who couldn’t write ‘bum’ on a wall”
“It’s so stilted, artificial and awkward not even a glass of wine and leftover Halloween candy can make it remotely enjoyable to view.”
"You will also find yourself wondering if this is supposed to be a joke that we are meant to be in on"
That looks so bad it might be good
rewatching goliath and season 1 is really good!! I vaguely remember it falling off later.
several great performances. Billy Bob is great. the lawyer/real estate agent who brings him the case is great! and the girl from the Netflix chess show who's a big star now. I forget her name. she's in it, and she's great too.
Carol does not appreciate that she finally has the chance to realize the libertarian dream of having recreational nukes.
i listened to thread hype, caved and watched that trailer
jfc, who on earth do they think they were trying to appeal to?
that looks career killing for the serious actors involved
Last Samurai Standing (Netflix)
Its Squid Game with samurai. Great visuals, pretty amazing choreographed action and its has some hearth for sure.
Its not high art or anything, but a really fun binge imo (6 episodes) if you're into that kind of thing.
For some reason wife and i also put on True Blood (i saw mabye till second season when it aired). Those are some wild sexed up vampires. How did the creator go from Six Feet Under to this show lol
