but regardless, Holocaust education is mandated in many if not almost all places in the USA. I was taught about it in 6th grade for weeks and multiple times thereafter. my schools spent more time teaching about the Holocaust than any other thing. not slavery, not the genocide of the Native Americans, not the genocide in the Congo, not the British conquests that slaughtered millions all over the world. there were no Jews at my school incidentally.

Estimated somewhere between 60-400 million, which given the total Earth's population wasn't particularly large during this time period is really mind blowing. And that is not even counting Partition, where 7-10 million Hindus and Sikhs were murdered and displaced from their ancestral lands by Muslims.

The number killed during Indian Partition in 1947, though unknown for certain, was up to 2 million, which was a lot in just those few weeks, and most of the victims were Muslims expelled from their homes and attempting to flee to Pakistan, murdered by Hindu and Sikh mobs. There were also Hindus trying to move in the other direction who were murdered by Muslim mobs, but these were a minority of the horrible toll.
