He should play $11 and $5.50 mtts (no satties) with 2.5k if he is serious about MTT play. Put time in to study as well. playing $11 satties its just -ev.

He should also consider if he's plus ev in those mtts and consider even playing at all if he doesn't know where he can improve so he is +EV.

Really he's gambling degening with the worst of it playing $215 mtts and finishing 8th for a grand or so. He just ran good in a single mtt. Most of the time he won't cash even the best in the world in $215s ain't cashing a majority of the time in that mtt and even if a crusher in high stakes aint cashing a majority of the time in a $1 mtt.

Satties are -ev fullstop in a majority of cases and shouldn't even be played if hes going to get serious about mtt play.

if hes going to play cash instead which is what he should be doing if he wants to be a pro and not play any mtts at all he will want to play 50NL but should play 25NL or lower instead to see if hes a winner.

he should put away 2.4k for savings and play 2nl with $100 and get a full time job. mtts are for losers. some tables he should leave the table even at 2nl to find fishes.

The only advice punt big punt often bink big bink.often. thats how winning is done.

I really dont know what your deal is. I mean you seem to give bad advice to a guy with an obvious gambling problem and other psychological issues for your own amusement.

But when it comes to poker and what one should play i think you are not intentionally giving terrible advice you just dont know wnay better.

What is whole thing about?

satalites are -ev. 1 they favor the house with more rake (satalite rake + target mtt rake). adds ton of variance to game which has huge varience to start with. (MTTs). if they are hypers satties roi is tiny if any roi at all.

He should only maybe play satties if he is bankrolled for the target mtt which he isnt. and then its probably just worth just playing the target mtts and not play satties.

Some satties on other sites have overlay so they might be worth playing. stars didn't when i played on there.

I reckon he's better off trying to bink big on a sunday on stars and then go and party. He should take that 2.5k be willing to lose the lot on a sunday in hopes of binking 10s or more thousands. Playing satties just dramatically decreases his chances of binking big and takes a few hours and brain power focus which could be directed at playing a $215 or $109.

He should prolly learn other skills like mindset and not be so upset if he busts all his money. Just accept that losing the money is most probably going to happen and if he binks big thats a bonus. Be grateful for everything (He had a chance to play in big mtts) and tell everyone he had lots of fun.

Really he should be playing $10 mtts and aim to win $2 every mtt he plays. But a desire to get rich quick greed just leaves him with nothing. play 20 a day and make $40 a day and play 6 days a week earning $240. with all the variance as well and playing against bots and players who are getting better at poker.

If he does this most likely he will be rolled for 33 avg buyin within a year and have a roll of 12k+. Earning $400 a week with a 10% roi if he plays the same amount of mtts.

If he worked at it he could be pro within a year possibly earning $1000 US a week. thats if he could play on mutiple sites.

Your logic about satellites is flawed when you say you pay rake twice.

It doesn't matter if you bink a 10$ tournament and take the winnings to higher stakes or bink a satelitte.

Satellites are also usually super soft. I am not sure if its a thing anymore but back in the day you could unregister from the target tournament for tournament dollars on stars.

The Sunday Storm and Sunday Million satellites were one of of not the best way to run up a roll from close to nothing because of how soft they were and the flat pay out structure.

The idea about double rake also really doesn't make sense. You have to look at the satellite and target mtt as separate tournaments. You play a 10$ and a 200$ mtt whether one of them is a satellite doesnt really matter.

I also dont get why you say he should just take a shot but that satellites are dumb. Satellites are a great vehicle for shot taking.

OP should quit all forms of gambling not try to run up his roll using one strategy or another. The end result will always be the same. Op will go broke no matter what.
