1/3 Grinding and Bankroll
Hi all,
First post in this specific forum. Normally post in NL Strategy. Hoping for some feedback about bankroll manageme
Everytime I sit down at a casino game all the mother ****ing nits move over one by one to try to catch me. That’s predatory even if there weak ****ing nits
That’s a blatant lie. Nits like you are actively following specific players around with your 13 table transfers a night. You think we too stupid to notice?
You sound like a weak person - instead of complaining to random internet posters why not figure out how to beat the "nits"? In life when you face challenges do you just cry about how unlucky you are or figure out a solution? Good life lessons made in the poker room.
What do you think makes top players tough to play against? Open to everyone’s thoughts!
Really did well at 5/10/25 making a quick few grand tonight. Game got bad mostly tight young regs trying to build their rolls joined so I left for plo5 but itÂ’s a snooze fest. The edges are not as great because there is more luck in plo than hold em. I feel like I give up too much edge when playing plo instead of hold em sometimes.
PLO was terrible so I went back to 5/10/25 where I splashed around a little more than usual to get involved with some fun players, was losing until right before the game broke and coolered my friend heads up T9 v. ?? on 86574 runout.
Someone running good at 2/5 came over at one point and encouraged players to leave 5/10 to play at his table (class move) and I said no bring your stack over here and run it up. He said he wouldn't because he'd be over the max. I said no one would care. He says in front of several players "I'm not a cheater and liar like you." I go ok, I walk up to his game and say "since you just called me out in front of everyone why don't you state the basis of your comment" to back it up.
He goes "you jump tables and won't admit it." Lol @ that being cheating...then someone at his table even says that isn't cheating and lots of people do it. If someone wants to quit a game and play a different game there's nothing unethical about that. Same thing with table transfers. All well within the rules. Gimme a break dude. I then told him, again, to bring his butt over to our game with all those chips and he did not take me up on the challenge...put up or shut up.
I won around $5k today and a nice rebound from the loss yesterday.
Finally found an equity calculator for mixed games! Thank you badugiwrap.

Found the nit defending the biggest nit in the casino. Unlike you I do well for myself outside of poker and don’t need to chase around fish who hate yo ass and don’t want to play wit yo nitty ass
I call out parasites when I see them. Just because it’s within the rules to table change 13 times a day to hunt down players doesn’t mean your not a scumbag to do it
Let’s all shame the scumbag nits and make poker great again
Session was sorta a snooze fest, not a whole lot happened. Mainly practiced my folds for 10 hours. Early on win at 2/5 with ATs in 3! pot, took a second to table my hand and got berated for “slowrolling” by a rude reg. I would have value bet river IP but I really just wanted to see what he squeezed with.
At plo AKQJ6ds got it in pre lost, at 10/25/50 QQ lost to a triple barrel on a terrible runout, at least I played 25/50/100 for 10 minutes before the game broke and won the 7-2 game once for $200 a player. Flatted pre and stabbed IP versus a check, a lot of people 3! to win this game but I took a lower variance line blind on blind closing the action.
Ended up losing small on the uneventful day. At least a 2/5 player said the dude the other night was out of line for calling me out like that over such a trivial thing as changing tables.
Back to community hospital work for the next several weeks. My comfort zone.
Tonight lost in the big mix again, 6/8 lost to 5/7 at Badacey and t low got outdrawn by 86 draw in 2-7 dramaha. Left for hold em made some back now plo to close out. Someone asked how I consistently win. I said it was hard. It’s not as easy as it used to be. You gotta keep getting better to maintain your edge.
At this point this year I’ve lost about as much as I lost over last year in the big mix so I’m done for the rest of the year. I’m still within a normal swing for that game lifetime but given how infrequently I win it’s likely I’m a losing player although with such a small sample size it’s hard to say with a lot of certainty. Now that I have an equity calculator hopefully the sims I’ve run and will keep running will help me improve further.
Tonight won good at hold em lost small at plo and 20/40 mix. Sold another guide and getting home for a good nights sleep. A bump on my lower back is not cancerous according to the dermatologist I saw today which was a relief. Just a small cyst.
Looking to maybe buy another place and rent it out in the area, will see if it makes financial sense.
It’s so weird how well I play at hold em and plo compared to the mix. Funny.
I’m pretty sure I just developed some undisciplined habits in the mix that have held me back. Anyway, moving forward I am going to just keep running well at 5/10/25 and put in max volume there. Such a bigger edge than at plo at this point ainec. The game is just bigger and more profitable. Realistically I think I could make $500k a year if I grinded that game full time.
Honestly in plo it’s just too easy for fish to win.
Lost some at hold em but won at plo, no hearings in court today and we get off early for the holiday…my schedule is light for the remainder of the week too. Yippie!
The market is rebounding well from the recent dip.
Talking five card. The reason is preflop equities run much closer in general and especially multi-way. It’s hard to outflop five other people. My games are very loose. That compounds the problem. Book is still useful. It will make anyone who reads it better at the game in some way. Just get ready for some swings!
Thanksgiving lunch was delicious and good company. My uncle was in town and so were some family friends. Nice to all be together and catch up. I didn’t say a whole lot but that’s just my nature. My sister made orange olive oil pound cake. I had two slices. My dad made apple pie with homemade crust and apples from their trees.
Now I’m surrounded by slot machine sounds and getting slowrolled. Thankful.
Thanksgiving session was annoying, at 2/5 55 got outdrawn by A9o on T95, AK ran into KK in 3! pot at a low spr on K54dd, and 99 ran into whale’s KK pre for 59bb. 88 lost to whale’s T9s pre as well. Plo was similarly sorta runbad although less so. At least the stock market went up today again. I found some more mixed game articles by Kevin Haney that helped too. Seems like I was playing 2-7 dramaha pretty well just getting f’d by the deck.
This weekend I’m not working which is great. I can just enjoy. Like right now, enjoying lattes in the sun by the window on the couch.
Played 25/50 mix (which is just one level up from 20/40) and hold em most of the session, at hold em got TT in pre against an action short stack for $900 in a late position battle and held but then got 99 in against him blind on blind for $1, 300 with the $25 straddle on and his AJs got there…!
At the mix lost with KK nut flush draw to an inside wrap on both runouts as an 80% favorite in plo and AJT96ds ran into AA pre. AA ran into top set at a low spr as well. Ran decently in the non plo5 games and booked a small win. Game ran very late until 6am as a new player who I normally see play plo kept rebuying. A bunch of new players actually joined tonight out of the blue so the game was very good. I guess they were allured by “25/50.” It was nice not to be the worst player anymore and actually notice mistakes others were making.
Put up Christmas decor around the place today, enjoying caramel lattes on the couch in the sun. Pretty delightful!
My old support social worker from my recovery program reached out to find out how I was doing and to connect me to a peer she is working with now. I can’t wait to help them!
This was my view as I left the parking lot to play:

Running bad at plo so far in a really good game, nut straight lost to backdoor fd (nothing else…!) and nfd nut gutter lost to worse fd pair and same gutter. 4! 97654ds against high cards and whiffed. I guess I’m lucky I ran as well as I did in the beginning of the month.
At least I don’t feel depressed, which is great. Even though I only got 7.5 hours of sleep I feel fine. I bought a bag of salted nuts to snack on before dinner arrives, I ordered kung pao chicken.
I am in a financial position where I am in really good shape for retirement. But not wealthy enough to feel like I’m set for life yet. Oh I need to buy milk.
Edit: ran better with dsAA and AKQJ2ds. Up now!

Please quit posting crappy photos. Also stop with the lies. Thanks for your attention in this matter.

Just don't have a family/kids - money will disappear quick!
Finished strong, winning AKs v AQ all in pre at 10/25 and JJ won a pot too. Ended up $1, 100. Happy for any win at this point. Got 10 hours of sleep or so which was really refreshing, other than the sedation I always feel from my meds.
I was discussing what makes the best players hard to play against with a friend. He said using polarizing bet sizes with value and bluffs. I said it’s hard to know what they have.
Played 25/50 mix all session and ran and played well, folding all marginal spots pre and getting value with my strong hands, won over $3, 200 in a few hours. If I can replicate this session all of the time I can do quite well. I got dealt a pat 5/6 in badacey which was nice and made a 4/6 in the same game against a 4/8 and got three quarters of the pot. I raised river and thought he called and announced my hand incorrectly by mistake as a “5/6” and then realized he raised again and double checked and saw I had an even better hand. Rather than unintentionally angle I just called the river raise even though my hand strength warranted another raise. 3! my 257s and 234s in 2-7 triple draw and got good run outs, unfortunately in big o got quartered with AQ873 on A828 versus another A8 and 63.
The game broke a little earlier than expected because an incompetent dealer sat down prompting one of the few remaining players to quit. The rest of us agreed to one more down but then the dealer made too many mistakes and we quit too.
Wrapped up with a little plo and flopped top set nfd in a 3! pot with AKQQ7ds and turned nut flush rivered top boat. What a runout!
Ran good yesterday at plo and hold em. Won 96 during stand up game against K8 on A976 facing a jam from an aggro action player. Made around $2, 200 on the day. Lost the state hospital case which is why I didn’t want to do them to begin with, didn’t get a good judge and all my efforts over two weeks of prep were for nothing. At least when I lose a community hospital case the prep is much less involved.
